Cozy indoor sitting area and really nice outdoor area that had live music on the Friday night we went which really made it. Ordered their mule that was really good
Always love coming here. Feels like I'm in a real time piece with all the cool decorations and everyone is always so friendly! Food is yummy, drinks are soooooo good!!
My sister was in town visiting and I had never checked out the Bible club so we made our way there on a Monday for my birthday. We were there when I first open and it got a little crowded by the time that we left. We both opted for two cocktails, a piece and both were delicious. The aesthetics were very fun and true to the prohibition era. Overall, definitely recommend
We had an awesome time at Bible Club. Such a fun and unique speakeasy with a variety of drinks. This is a lovely local gem with cozy decor and a lively crowd. The service was great and we will be coming again!
A prohibition era theme speakeasy inside an unsuspecting older house that borders residential neighborhoods and commercial area with the shops, cafes and other restaurants. Located in Sellwood-Westmoreland neighborhood. Lots of good drinks for both alcohol and mocktails. They also serve food and snacks. Fun place with decor that and design that brings you back in time. It can seat about 30 people inside. No more than a party of 6. In the backyard is another bar there also serves food. But it is a different establishment. Street parking and that can get tough in this area.
This place is so much fun! The environment is classy low key with amazing signature cocktails. All the cocktails are twists on classics that are just phenomenal to look at let alone delicious to drink. The food is good, but the drinks is really what it's about. The waitstaff is engaging and seem to enjoy their job as they never stopped looking after their guests with a smile.
About a year ago, I randomly found out that one of my favorite jewelry designers / artists moved to Portland and opened a Speakeasy... and I finally got to visit it! and What a name! Bible Club! A huge shout out and congratulations to Ryk Maverick (and the Starlingear team) and his not-so-new-ish-anymore speakeasy bar! From outside, this place just looks like an old house. There is no sign either. The doormat does say "Bible Club" and there is an outdoor patio with some lighting next to it though. That is just about all the hints you get that this place is a bar. Once you enter... omg... I know Ryk Maverick is a huge antique collector, so it does not surprise me one bit that he created this amazing venue that mimics what a speakeasy would have looked like from the Prohibition era. The venue is filled with antique furniture, memorabilia, and decorations. I am attaching several photos of various areas inside the bar. I feel like other photos of this place already posted don't do justice! I used a wider-angle camera feature of my photo to capture as much as I could. My group came here after eating dinner so we did not order any food. We did order cocktails. I got to try at least a sip of each and they were all excellent. Our server was extremely knowledgeable about all of the cocktail offerings. This place was everything I expected and more. Highly recommended!
This is a cute spot to hang out with friends. The idea of it is fun and they've been here for 9 years. I think that having traveled the US and hunting down speakeasies has turned me into a speakeasy snob. I was quite disappointed in this place with their drinks and their service. The guys were nice. Both Joe and Nick were friendly. But service was meh. I don't think I have ever sat with an empty glass for as long as I did there. The drinks were over sweetened and premixed which was a letdown.
I went to the outside back patio of the Bible Club on a Friday night and had a lovely time! There was good live music, good ambiance, and a lively mixed crowd of all ages 21+. While it was a bit chilly, they had fires and heaters going which made it pleasant. There is also a good selection of hot cocktails to keep you warm! The presentation of the bruchetta plate I ordered was also beautiful! The cocktails were served in cute glasses and were also delicious. Would absolutely recommend this restaurant/bar!
I am a huge fan of this speakeasy. Old house that houses this amazing Speakeasy and drink and food local. I am not a beer fan, but I am all in for a great cocktail, of which they did not fail to meet my expectations!!! The quaint fun location is a must! I will always have the bible club on the must visit list for friends / family who come into town. (Already have) and enjoy a special cocktail and enjoyable spot to chill. The staff here is attentive and always focused on ensuring you get the right drink for the evening! We ordered food and it met my expectations (which very high). Will I be back. Behind the little Sellwood treasure Bible Club you will find a lovely little patio, Revival. No need to go inside, just head to the left side of the house. They have their own bar serving up draft beverages, craft cocktails and select food items from the kitchen. Patio heaters all around to keep the chill away in winter! Look for live music on Friday and Saturday nights!
We popped in here for some cocktails with a group of 5. Had to wait a little bit for a table, but it was a Saturday night. We all loved our drinks and had a great time. We liked the charcuterie board we ordered. We stumbled on the fact that there was live music outback and relocated there.
On the outside it looks like a normal house. Going inside, it felt like another universe, 1920s vibes with a Harry Potter feel. The drinks were tasty and you would know what you'd like based on the spirit. Definitely would come back to try other drinks. Fun date spot! The staff was also nice and welcoming.

If you're not sure if you're at the right place, you've made it there. It just looks like every other Portland house from the outside, but on the inside it's super classy speakeasy vibes. Some of the best cocktails I've ever had -and they're pretty generous with their alcohol. Overheard one of the bartenders saying they had been bartending for over 20 years, and it shows. Didn't get the chance to try any of the food. Seating looks pretty limited due to the size of the house, but I heard there's a patio out back. Definitely will be coming back soon. read more

"Praise the Lord and Pass the Booze" is the welcoming statement here at this prohibition style speakeasy. While vacationing in Oregon, we stopped to visit some dear friends and they brought us here to enjoy some cocktails and light bites before dinner. After we parked street side (the only available parking), we walked down what appears to be a residential street located in the Sellwood Neighborhood in Portland. My friend headed up to this random house. At first I was taken aback wondering where she was going. She asked us to follow her, and we entered the fabulous Bible Club. Here you will step back in time (1920's) into a very intimate setting. Lights are dimmed, and the Ten Commandments hand-crafted cocktail list awaits your selection. The atmosphere makes you feel like many people probably felt back during the Prohibition. Sneaking into an illicit drinking establishment, grabbing a drink and hoping you don't get caught. Accompanying this whole vibe is live jazz music. Could not ask for a better environment to imbibe. We ordered the Underwriter and the Aerofizzicist. Both cocktails were really tasty and a bit on the strong side but we enjoyed. We all shared the Caprese Sticks and the bomb Baked Meatballs. Both dishes were so savory and it was just enough food to hold us over for dinner. In addition to the speak easy, they have the Revival Patio out back that is open year round and is covered. It also features heat during the cold season. There is live music each Friday and Saturday. This was truly a memorable experience and I will definitely return. An old timey speakeasy located in an unassuming yellow house. The moment you walk in you're instantly transported back to the prohibition era. The decor was very cool to check out. We decided to sit at the bar and enjoy some delicious cocktails. I had the fever dream which was refreshing and light. Their version of an espresso martini reminded me of an Andes mint. We ordered the Beecher's grilled cheese and the pretzel board. Both were cheesy and good. The service was attentive and accommodating. read more
10/10 speakeasy spot! I love how unassuming it is on the outside, just a regular neighborhood house, but then when you open the door you're transported to the prohibition era. The inside is super cozy with old furnitures and dim lights. They got plenty of seatings there but there's also an outdoor section. Their drink menu is super it interesting. Everything sounds tasty (and strong!). We enjoyed all the drinks we ordered and can't wait to come back for their food, and more drinks, soon. read more
This whole time I had no idea this gem of a speakeasy was so close to me - and I guess that's kind of the idea. It looks just like a house and it almost felt uncomfortable to walk on in, but I'm so glad I did. The drinks were a 10/10 for me. I thought I was going to like the Sweet Sayonara the best considering I love passionfruit and matcha, but I thought I didn't quite feel the drink worked. The separate parts were delicious on their own, but I wouldn't choose to have a matcha coconut foam on a passionfruit drink again. However, the Wicked Garden and the Dreamcatcher really saved it. The Wicked Garden is similar to a Mai Thai. It was a beautiful pink color and tasted of pineapple and orgeat. I love a good Mai Thai, so this was up my alley. The true star of this whole show was the Dreamcatcher, though. I have never tried a clarified milk punch because, honestly, the concept freaked me out. I didn't realize this was a milk punch when I got it and it opened my eyes. It really felt like a London Fog in cocktail form and I'm obsessed with it. I came specifically for the drinks, but the food didn't disappoint either. The bruschetta was essentially what you expect solid bruschetta to taste like. Next time I would go for the Caprese salad because I saw it at another table and it looked so fresh, while the bruschetta was just solid. We also ordered the shishito peppers and they were so delicious. They're in a caramel sauce that gives them a sweet flavor that pairs so well with the savory of the pepper. My only hold up is that it's a lot of peppers to just eat, so maybe order for more than two people. We were even pairing them with the smoked formaggio, which was so special we thought about ordering a second one. The cheese was perfectly salty and smoked. It was gooey and soft and I wanted to crawl in it and sleep there. Whew. I will probably never come back without ordering that cheese. To finish, we got the passionfruit mousse cake, that had such excellent passionfruit flavor. There was some kind of citrus in the middle that had an odd texture and not much flavor, but it was well worth the experience of the rest of the cake. read more
Fun lil Prohibition-themed speakeasy in Sellwood. Definitely got rainy/winter date night vibes from this place. The only indicator out front that you're at the right place is the branded mat at the door. Service was attentive even though there were only 2 folks front of house. My husband was not feeling food so I can't speak to that, though the menu looked pretty good! I got the Coco Laredo and it was very unique! I loved it and would get it again. read more

I went here on a Sunday, of course, as the name suggests. The place is very unassuming outside, so it can be easy to miss, but it is basically a house. It gives quite a speakeasy vibe, especially when you open the (unlocked) door at opening, since the inside has a bunch of cool artifacts that you can take a look at. There is a separate bar in the outside patio, but the OG, speakeasy experience is inside the house. From what I hear, wait can be long, but it was a slow Sunday - I didn't need to show up 30 minutes before opening (3:30pm) as I've heard otherwise, as it was not a full house until we left around 5:30pm. I tried the Wheeler's Bane which is very smoky (the bartender holds the smoke in for additional flavor and effect), and it is quite strong. My friend got the Underwriter that is more fruit forward and tiki-like. We then shared a final drink, the Forever Antique, which is more of a lighter, fruity, cool drink. Overall, the drinks are fairly solid for the price, a bit more emphasis on the dark liquors in most of the cocktails. read more

Shhh, don't let them see you come in. The Bible Club is Prohibition era speakeasy, and they are committed to the bit (as committed as they are to providing you great service and even better drinks). Transport yourself to the 1920s and grab a libation or sacrament to quench your thirst. From "repeal the 18th" amendment posters, to candle lit table settings, everything about this place SCREAMS flappers night out. One of the only places in Portland you can find a good clarified milk punch- don't knock it til you try it (and don't knock on the door either, just come right in!) read more

The Bible Club is one of my favorite bars. I love the ambiance. It takes you back to the prohibition era with lots of fun pictures and references. You have to see it to understand how cool it is! I love to take my book, order a yummy cocktail and read. The food is delicious too - if you're a fan of cheese, come here. The service is always so nice and welcoming. read more
Cute place! I had heard some no so positive things about it, but I thought it was great. Drinks were good. Service was good. We had some dietary restrictions that were accomodated with no issues. Try the charcuterie board with the burrata...so good! Also do yourself and favor and visit the back yard too. Whole different environment...equally good. read more

Really great ambiance! The drinks are great, I got the Fever Dream and it was delicious. The bartender was really nice and it was a great space to hang out with friends and catch up. The Lyft driver on the way back asked us how Bible study was, we laughed and said it was great. Definitely recommend! read more

Had another delightful evening here while enjoying a fabulous cocktail, The Martyr. I love everything about this place. The atmosphere is amazing. It is easy to feel yourself going back in time. And the drinks are top notch. I always forgo my usual when I come here, trust the bartender, and order from their menu. There's no sign advertising this place, you just walk up to an old Victorian house that looks like all the others and open the door. Just remember to knock once, wait one second, and then knock twice. When the doorman opens the door, shake his hand with your left, not your right hand. And then you're in! ;) read more
