The Hey Love space just oozes celebration. It's like a Mexican Tiki bar, covered with plants, tiger and lion sculptures, and pottery. I got the Mule cocktail, and it was one of the best cocktails I've had in ages (admittedly, haven't had many cocktails these days). The wife and I split a squash blossom machete, like a very long quesadilla. It was delicious, stuffed with fresh cheese and that delicate, vegetal flavor from the blossoms. It just so happens that on thakday the upstairs bar was closed for a party so we hung out down stairs and it was fine. Although the wait for sleigh love is long during December it really is worth it! We tried to get in last year on a Saturday night and was told the wait was over 2 hours . We knew we had to plan better this year and came on a Thursday evening the first week of December (which will now be a new tradition). We were told the wait was an hour but really we only waited 35 mins. The vibe here is definitely festive. I especially love all the funny Santa's littered around the room. Went on a Sunday morning and got sat immediately without a wait. The inside is very pretty and there's a lot of attention to detail with the decor and artwork. Everything was reasonably priced for the high quality of the food and drinks. The frozen coffee cocktail I had was delicious, and so were the crispy loaded jojos that I had for brunch. The jojos were very filling too! You can choose to either get up and order at the bar, or you can order and pay via the QR code at your table. I got the Heart of Gold and Utah Gimme Two. My date had Let the good times Roll and Toki Highball. I couldn't have the Let the good time Roll due to gluten but the Toki Highball slapped. Ordered nachos and the fiesta forever cocktail since its a seasonal drink. My friend ordered the Oaxacan Sunrise which gotta be strong since it says you have a limit of 2 with that drink. One of my favorite bars in Portland. Featured on the World's 50 Best Discovery list. Located inside the Jupiter hotel downtown. Walk in party of 3 at 3pm right when they opened. Happy hour from 3-5pm on weekdays with $10 classic cocktails and $2 off most house cocktails, bringing most drinks to around $11-$15 which is honestly a steal compared to cocktail prices I'm used to in SF. Walk in and you'll be seated by the host. Atmosphere is very tropical, with plants everywhere. Order directly at the bar or use a QR code on the table to place your order and the drinks will be brought to you. Friendly service. Opted for two drinks we've had before - Oaxacan Sunrise (limit 2) and Secret Life of Plants. The first is strong and comparable to a mezcal margarita with passionfruit and strawberry. The latter is a refreshing mango mai tai. Also tried a new-to-us cocktail - Let the Good Times Roll slushie. We started with the Oaxacan Sunrise, it was especially yummy on a hot day. Second drink we had was the secret life of plants which tasted super unique and refreshing. I'd get either drink again in the future! We also loved our food. We had the shrimp ceviche and one machete with carne asada and mushrooms. The ceviche was very refreshing. I loved the coconut broth it was in, such a nice sweet complement to the sweet shrimp. The machete was delicious and I wish we had gotten two. It was a great size for two people to share if you're getting apps and/or eating lighter, but if I was hungry enough for a full meal I could've eaten one all on my own. We got the mule, life of plants, and a slushie. The drinks are very good, funky, and well balanced. The only thing I would change is requesting no sprinkles in my slushie. It was weird drinking a strawberry margarita with sprinkles haha. Some of the decorations are still up from the holidays and I will have to check it out again next year- I am sure it gets festive. Hey Love is a restaurant that I'd like to spend more time in. It is unique - it feels like drinking in a greenhouse with the number of plants that are quite literally everywhere. Some places are basic, but not Hey Love which oozes character and ambiance. Ordering is easy through a QR code menu. Everything is very fast. I have never had the chance to eat here, but drinking here is amazing. This is a true craft cocktail restaurant with fun drinks including the best gimlet I have ever had. Surprisingly despite it being a QR code menu the servers were still very engaging. Most places I go to that relies on QR code ordering systems are very hands-off. People largely are there to drop off food and that's it. Not here. Every time someone dropped off a drink they'd pause to check-in or give recommendations. It really was great! read more

I don't know if it's because I had more coffee and alcohol than food in me at the moment, but it was the best dish I've tasted in a long time. Very spicy, but flavorful. Every cocktail unfolded in layers of flavors. (I tried a sip of my friends' drinks, and I had the Jazzy Aperol Spritz.) Very unique and complex combinations. Seriously, vegans--don't sleep on the tinga. I tried to order another one for the road but there was a snafoo, maybe they saw it and dismissed it as a dupe. It got figured out but was a little awkward. We had the steak ranchero family feast, the steak itself was absolutely delicious, however the meal didn't really read feast, on the menu it said it was for 2+ and it wasn't really a full meal for two, it would be nice if they could make it more feast like by adding maybe chips or beans and rice or something and more meat. We ordered it with extra tortillas the first three were blue and fresh and yummy, the rest were so hard and dried out and they weren't blue which suggested they were completely different tortillas. You order via a QR code or you can go to the bar. We needed more utensils and water and because you don't have a direct server it's hard to get what you need.
