I wanted to be a fan of this place because it's a small business, my love of coffee and of course their SUPER cute macarons. We ordered two drinks and a half dozen of assorted macaron flavors. Every single macaron was so stale. The chew was tough and the flavors was lackluster. It was probably one of the worst collection of macarons I've ever had. I was super bummed because they had some classic flavors (pistachio, salted caramel, etc.) as well as some unique flavors like their white rabbit candy. However, you really had to concentrate to find the hints of the flavor. I'm not sure if it's because they were stale and the flavor was not as strong but for almost $3 you would think the quality would be decent at best, not what we got. The drinks were SUPER sweet even though we modified. I know that other people are having different experiences due to the amazing reviews this place has but I was not one of them. If you've had quality matcha, you would know by the color and the taste that this was not a good matcha spot. Personally, I did not enjoy the banana matcha latte or the matcha cloud. The banana matcha I expected to have a banana cream top, instead it had floating bits of banana and it was warm. The matcha cloud tasted like water and had no true taste of coconut water. I also tried the pandan coconut egg coffee, the coffee was Vietnamese coffee, it was strong. The cream top was sour, no taste of pandan at all, it was just color. Looks were definitely deceiving. Personally, I do not recommend this spot for matcha, but you are better off getting an iced coffee. read more

I'm not sure if I just didn't pick the right drink or flavor of macaron, but I was sadly underwhelmed from what I had. I ordered a taro milk tea with boba which is a standard drink that I usually love. However, the taro milk tea I had from here had such a weird after-taste to me! I don't know how to describe the taste but it was different and I could only take a few sips before being done with the drink. I noticed it didn't take long for my drink to be ready--it was ready within 10 seconds after I ordered. I'm guessing it came out of a machine. I figured that the macarons would taste good at least, but the crème brûlée macaron I tried was way too sweet! I like sweet treats but this was too much for me. However, it had more milk than coffee. I like a more strong Vietnamese coffee. It had coconut bites on top not a fan of the coconut bites. Banana Coffee was tasty and better than Pandan Coffee. However, the coffee base and banana base didn't mix. It kept separating. Ube Tiramisu and Durian Tirismisu were alright. It had way too much cream but not enough ube and durian. The best part was a dozen maroons! I loved how all of it was soft and chewy. My top three were the creme brûlée, strawberry cheesecake, espresso, and salted caramel. This is my second time here, and I am still very impressed with their drinks! I love the variety of flavors and drinks they have here, and my favorites have been the black sesame latte and durian matcha latte (although I heard the durian egg latte is more popular--will have to try that next time!). The first time I came and tried a few of their macarons, I was disappointed because they were a bit tough, hard, and overall not that great. However, I gave their white rabbit macaron a try today, and it was so good! Today's experience definitely redeemed the previous times'. The flavor wasn't a super heavy white rabbit taste, but it still was delicious, creamy, and chewy, and most importantly not too sweet. They have plenty of tables inside, many outlets, and free wifi, which makes it a good place to sit down and chat or do work. It was a tad bit chilly today inside, so I recommend bringing a jacket if you plan to stay long. Parking is also easy as it is in a plaza. So far, both times I've been here, it hasn't been very crowded. Despite the drinks being on the pricier side, I'd still come here to try their other flavors since they advertise many delicious lattes! Location was pretty cute and spacious. We came 30 minutes before closing time, so it was pretty empty. Service was bery quick and simple. The staff was very helpful and patient with us. This was our first time, so we took a moment with the menu. The staff made sure we were aware of their Happy Hour, love that for businesses. We order a few of their macarons and two drinks. For the macarons we got the Fruity Pebble. Coconut Pandan. Strawberry Matcha and the Girl Scout Cookie. My personal faves from the selection were the Girl Scout Cookie which tasted just like the Samoa, and the Coconut Pandan. The service is inconsistent and so is the prices. I've been here multiple times and today the service was terrible and unprofessional. To top it off I was also charged more for a drink when it's supposed to be a "happy hour special" price. The girl at the register made up a price and charged me more than the Friday special price that was supposedly incorrect because it was ringing up as $5.44 instead of $6. So in her head me paying $7 was fair. Definitely not recommending to anyone again nor coming again. 2nd time here--Good place to study it's spacious and clean. However, I am not quite a fan of their latte since it's too strong for my taste (as a non coffee drinker, but my partner enjoyed it). Very trendy, cute, clean, and relaxing little shop. The service was excellent because everyone is so patient and friendly. The milk teas I bought tasted bland but looked tasty. We all love durian but thought that the durian egg did not complement with the Vietnamese coffee too well; nevertheless, it was still very delicious. They use real durian and you can taste the durian bits in the egg portion of the coffee. Because they use real durian, it does take about 15 minutes to prepare. We were not complaining as we're were thoroughly enjoying the biscoff coffee. It was so delicious and not too sweet. The tiramisu macaroon was also very good. The fragrance (or odor, depending on who you ask) crept up to me despite being at a distance. I was shocked and impressed at the same time. They currently have a happy hour deal for a milk tea & macaron for $5 on Mondays & Wednesdays from 4-6PM, so I got that today. They also have a deal on Tuesdays & Thursdays (also from 4-6PM) for BOGO 1/2 drinks, and Thursdays from 1-3PM for 10% an order of a dozen macarons. Today, I ordered a Vanilla Lavender macaron and a Taro Milk Tea. Lavender is one of my favorite flavors and this macaron is perfect for me; you can actually taste the lavender! Taro Milk tea wasn't my favorite; it had this weird thick texture that I didn't really enjoy. I previously had the Black Sesame Matcha, which was a much better drink in my opinion. With that drink, they asked me how I wanted the sweetness, so I requested it to be less sweet. This worked out well since I didn't want anything overly sweet since I'd be eating macarons. The flavor of the drink was subtle, but I could still taste the nutty flavor of the black sesame. Service was welcoming and friendly, like last time. They did seem to only have one employee working, so just note that the wait time can build up as the number of customers start to increase. Love this place when it's just me and my oldest and I want to pick up a treat with her for bonding time. The macarons are a treat and taste good. They are always on point and not too sweet. It's a cool spot. It's been getting a lot of attention on social media so I had to try it out. The menu has a lot of interesting flavors to choose from but unfortunately we didn't like any of the drinks we got. My group had the Banana Matcha Latte, Salty Plum Soda, Taro Milk Tea, and Durian Matcha Latte. All four of us thought our drinks didn't taste good. I made the mistake of getting Salty Plum Soda even though I don't event like salty plums that much, and it tasted just like salty plums so that was probably my fault. I'm happy to share that Rooftop Macarons definitely satisfies that dessert craving for me with its wide colorful array of high-quality macrons and a great variety of drinks to go with! Located on Vintage Park Drive, Rooftop Macarons is located in a small plaza with its own dedicated lot, which makes parking simple. I arrived late Tuesday afternoon and entered the dessert shop to find a clean and aesthetic interior as well as plenty of indoor seating should you chose to enjoy your dessert in house. I got their tiramisu and lemon raspberry macarons. The staff was super friendly and encouraged me to try their MACamisu, which is essentially a tiramisu dessert, but instead of lady fingers they use their house-made macarons in place. I love tiramisu, so how could I possibly say no? Since I already got a tiramisu macaron, I decided to get their cookies & cream MACamisu. They advised me to wait about 10-15 minutes to let the macarons warm up before enjoying since they came straight out of the fridge. They also provided a little palm-sized macaron care guide, which details their recommendations on how to best enjoy your macarons. I decided to take a seat in the store and waited the recommended time before taking a bite. With that first bite, I fell in love. The macarons were perfectly made, with slight crunch and overall chewy texture. The flavors though clearly present were not overly sweet. The tiramisu macaron is an instant favorite, it was so well made that it really does taste like biting into a slice of tiramisu, just with the texture of a macaron. The MACamisu is a very unique treat as well, with the macaron shell providing more texture and body to what is traditionally soft dessert. I thoroughly enjoyed the cookies & cream flavor; however, now that I know how delicious their tiramisu macaron is, I need to their their original MACamisu. If you're in the Elk Grove area and in the mood for a drink and some sweets, then I highly recommend giving Rooftop Macarons a try! read more

I am loving the coffee drinks from Rooftop Macarons. When I get the chance to swing by this part of town, I indulge in an egg coffee: a strong Vietnamese coffee topped with a sweet egg cream which is almost custard-like in flavor. This past weekend I tried something new and got the marble coffee and it is now my favorite! It's basically the same delicious and strong Vietnamese coffee with a little bit more richness. So good! They also gave me a complimentary macaron during this visit so I tried the vanilla lavender one and it was tasty. The lavender was subtle and not overpowering, which was perfect. I wish I visited this place sooner! I'm not a big coffee nor macaron fan, but they have such a diverse variety of flavors that it's hard to not find something you'll wanna try. We got the black sesame matcha and toasted coconut to try out. The black sesame matcha is exactly what you'd expect, a great balance of matcha and black sesame -- but gets really heavy with the sesame flavor towards the end. The toasted coconut had a rich flavor with a dense coconut? cream on the top. There wasn't much flavor of coconut since the coffee seemed to overpower it, but it tastes lovely once you mix it all together. I'd love to come back and try out their other drinks, there are just so many to choose from! Their macaron selection was great. It's a bit pricey, but makes sense for the quality of them. Each flavor was rich and stayed true to it's name. My favorite was the toasted almond, but that's one of my favorite flavors for everything. Service was speedy and everything came out in a reasonable time. The macarons are chilled, so we were recommended to let it sit for a few minutes before eating. I've been a major fan of Rooftop even before their brick and mortar store. Their macarons are not only aesthetically pleasing macarons with great flavors, you must give this place a try. I've tried almost all their flavors and some of my favorites are: coconut pandan, Oreo, birthday cake, white rabbit, Nutella s'mores, creme brûlée, and pistachio. The filling is always the perfect ratio of sweetness and their colors and designs are also beautiful. They also custom make macarons for any event you need and they are masters in creating exactly what you envision. Their crafted drinks are also delicious. My favorites are the toasted coconut latte (and I don't even like coffee), their passion fruit lychee tea and their herbal tea! So many things to try and such a cute little spot to study, read a book, or catch up with some friends. Not only is this place awesome and delicious, the people are great too. I visited in February specifically for macarons so I haven't tried the drinks or sitting in. I got a box of the lunar new year macarons. The flavors were listed as Strawberry Cheesecake, White Rabbit, and Vietnamese coffee, but I can't say that the flavors were very present at all. They were stored and sold in a box on top of paper shavings, which I think contributed to how hard and stale the texture was. I also ordered a few other flavors to try, and they were packaged individually and had a slightly better texture.
