This review is only for the soft serve and macaroons. First off, this store is very nut heavy, so for those with tree nut allergies, beware of cross contamination. This place has indoor and outdoor seating. There were plenty of tables available. I like the decor. Service was very nice. The servers with are super helpful and upbeat. Now for the food reviews. The macaroons are light and airy. I like mine with a bit of a bite, but that's just me. The flavor is nice, but on the sweeter side. As for the soft serve, it is also on the sweeter side. It comes with a macaroon wafer. They moved away from the mini macaroons. I am not a big fan for the macaroon wafer, mainly because it gets stuck to my teeth. Otherwise, it is soft serve. They're still known for their chocolates and macaron ice cream which is what originally brought me in all these years all but now they also offer other items like cake slices, pastries, and even affogatos. It's located in Midtown on J, between 24th and 25th and while the location is small they do have some indoor and outdoor tables to enjoy your items right away. Inside they have some of their shelf stable gift items like jams, hot chocolate kits, and gift boxes. Once you reach the counter you'll find macarons, gourmet chocolates, fresh pastries, and cookies. They also sell hot chocolate and coffee. Their hot chocolate has been rated some of the best in the country. It is very decadent and delicious and the small size is a perfect indulgent treat. I also love their coffee options and their rose option of coffee and hot chocolate are my favorites. On my latest visit I bought some gifts for a friend and a slice of their Salty Caramel Chocolate Cake along with some hot chocolate to bring home for my husband and I. It was overcast and chilly and friend recommended we check out the hot chocolate as it was supposedly rated #1 in the country. I love dark chocolate and the sipping chocolate was recommended. There is the option of topping it with marshmallow or whipped cream - mine was topped with both. The small size was plenty - very rich and not too sweet which was surprising given the marshmallow and whipped cream topping. Quite decadent. Also ordered a 6-piece chocolate box. Can't remember all the flavors I ordered - only that I went with all dark chocolate. Can't say any of the flavors in particular stood out - maybe the almond one and the one with a dark chocolate ganache. I love getting ice cream and hot chocolate from here. Everything is delicious. I have not been disappointed once and I have been to this location quite a few times. Least favorite however, was chocolate (sadly). I also had ordered a hot cocoa from here and it comes with cute little marshmellies (kid size) and it was very rich! It's such a cute little fun shop for a quick dessert and to grab a few gifts for ppl. I've yet to try their chocolates but I assume they're very good! Finally made some time to visit this weekend after I had a taste of their salted caramel ice cream macaron years ago! I had no idea they had such a large variety of sweets. I ended up trying their salted caramel affogato and some macarons instead (and so I can come back a second time for the ice cream). They are definitely on the sweeter side, or I am just not a fan of affogato I guess. The macarons were great in small bites to savor the flavor. I loved the light crunch of the outer shells and then the soft filling. The girls were super sweet and offered complimentary samples of their Madagascar (?) chocolate when I first came in, and gave me a run down of what they offer! Interior was cute and had plenty of seating inside the shop, outside in the hallway, and even outdoors. A warm sweet scent will greet you as soon as you walk through the doors into the pink decorative Pâtisserie shop. Hand crafted chocolates in fun flavors and various other sweet treats. Had to come try their pistachio Dubai chocolate sundae and wow wow wow!! I stopped by on a Thursday before noon and there was no line -- score! The staff member who helped me was very pleasant and nice. She answered all my questions and was very patient while I decided. Ultimately I decided on just the sundae. It took about 2 minutes and wow, what a beauty! The ice cream was creamy and perfectly sweet. They were pretty generous with the pistachio shredded filo dough concoction and the crushed chocolate crumbs added the perfect texture and crunch. Surprisingly, I think the highlight was their whipped cream -- fluffy and definitely housemade. The cherry on top was a very nice touch. Although I love the indoor seating vibes, I took a seat outside and enjoyed in the sun alone -- it was delightful. Absolutely the best macarons I've simply ever had. Worth the parking stress to grab a couple for the road. It's located in the downtown area of Sacramento and it's a small little shop, you might miss it a couple of tries but once you spot it, you'll be back for more. They have a couple people who help grab all the goodies you want and bag them up in super pretty wrapping and or bags. I typically get the vanilla and pistachio as the basic, always available flavors but my absolute favorite holiday flavor is the peppermint. I miss the L st store for nostalgic reasons, but I frequent this store often because I'm a huge fan of just about everything Ginger makes. Time update my review since Ginger Elizabeth has changed since my last one. Now the shop no longer has pastries but, now sells things like cupcakes, cookies, brownies, slices of loaf styled cake etc. It's more dessert centered. It still has chocolates, macarons, and chocolate bars. Anything you buy here is delicious and the best. I'm personally not a huge fan of macarons but, the ones made here are the best I've had. The hot chocolate is rich, decadent, and special. They make their own marshmallows and whipped cream to top off the hot chocolate. You can also add an espresso shot to your hot chocolate for an additional charge. My go to is the Oaxacan spice hot chocolate which, tastes like Mexican hot chocolate but, more decadent. Now they have soft serve ice cream which is awesome. It's rich and creamy. The flavors have been rotating to one new flavor each month so far. But usually the vanilla and chocolate have been available along with the rotating flavor each month. There's an occasional sundae special too with the rotating flavor which is posted on their IG page if one happens that month. I just tried the coffee hazelnut brown sugar chocolate bar and it was to die for. It wasn't bitter at all or overpowered with the coffee flavor. It was smooth and delicious. Located across the hall from Ro Sham Beaux wine bar. I returned to Ginger Elizabeth for their current seasonal flavors and my sweet tooth ran wild. In one sitting (with two friends as witnesses): a cup of frozen peppermint hot chocolate soft serve, one salty caramel cupcake, one gingersnap macaron (LOVE), one peppermint macaron (OK), also a bite of their gingersnap cookie (yum), and finished off with about half of a peppermint hot chocolate drink (vanilla marshmallow, chocolate pearls, hold the whipped cream). Why did I even bother with a box and a bag? The soft serve was not too minty for me, but that's just me. I'm a sucker for salty caramel anything by Ginger, and the chocolate cupcake delivered. The gingersnap macaron was the best, and I somehow missed the other seasonal macaron flavor, apple cobbler. The just-peppermint macaron was just okay. The actual ginger cookie was bigger than my hand, and just-right chewiness with the molasses. The hot peppermint hot chocolate drink was also the perfect seasonal holiday sip! This was our first time coming to the new location, and we were delighted by all the treats that were available. There was a nice selection of chocolate truffles, of course, which were exceptional as always. We also couldn't resist getting the box of caramels and have already eaten 3 or 4 - so far, the salty caramel is my favorite flavor. The really exciting thing about this location, especially in the summer, is the frozen treats on offer. My daughter got the s'more frozen macaron sandwich, which was intense - a bit too intense for me since I do love chocolate but am not a huge fan of chocolate flavored cakes, cookies, or ice cream. I got the Dubai bar soft serve sundae, which was absolutely delicious - imo, the combination of chocolate, pistachios, and crunchy bits really can't be beat. Ginger Elizabeth hosts an abundance of sweet treats but by far it seems the patrons go for a mad dash on their freshly made macarons and hot chocolate drinks. They do also have gift boxes of their chocolates, hot chocolate mix, and other treats. Their glass case of macarons is clearly labeled with all of their flavors and if you're just looking for a taste, they do sell them individually (with small individual boxes to carry the precious cargo in).
