Been following Mellobun on IG and was finally excited to try their baked goods that was in store at Ca Phe Haru. Since I was in the area, I figured it was finally the time to make a stop to try their salt bread that I've been seeing all over their IG. From what I know from IG, Mellobun typically has their baked goods available in Ca Phe Haru for purchase on the weekends only at this time. Walking in, I immediately saw the glass case with the breads. My goal was to try their salt bread and Korean garlic cheese milk bread bun. Sadly, they only had the salt bread available the day that I went, which means I definitely have a reason to come back again for their Korean garlic cheese milk bread bun. The salt bread had a hard, crunch layer on the outside and was soft in the inside. You can definitely taste the salt of the bread which I enjoyed. I can't wait to come back to try more of their baked goods!

I went to Ca Phe Haru to try Mellobun. Even though I like matcha, I wasn't tempted enough to pay $9 for a cinnamon roll or $10 for a slice of cake. I just went with the banana matcha cookie. The cookie was good, but needs more matcha. The banana and chocolate flavors were more dominant. I think I can move on now that I tried something from here.

Not a cinnamon bun. There is barely any flavor of cinnamon in this sweet potato cinnamon bun. At most it is a roll of bread with cream cheese topping. Such a disappointment and not worth the money.

Cottage bakery business based in Elk Grove that attends local events from time to time. I caught the business at The Creative Space Market: Aloha Saturday in Elk Grove and, yeah, the sourdough brioche cinnamon rolls are quite special. Very tender with a nice subtle tang. I specifically got the ube black sesame roll one and the brown butter ube frosting on top is delicious. A little disappointed on the ube halaya milk loaf though. Tastes mainly of ube extract and not much of the halaya. Not the softest milk bread that I've had either. The garlic miso butter milk bread tastes just like a Korean garlic sweet bagel but without the cream cheese lol a satisfying little savory treat. Matcha lovers (like me) would really enjoy the matcha strawberry milk mochi cookie because it has a fantastic bold earthy matcha flavor to it. Not much mochi presence though. The baker was really sweet when I met her at the Elk Grove event. Check the Instagram account @mellobunbakery for up-to-date upcoming pop-up showings. She sells out pretty quickly at events for walk-up customers; check the business website to have a chance to do pre-ordering!

Was excited to try this place-however it was a bit of a disappointment. The buns were pretty heavy and doughy with pretty mild flavor-size was definitely on the smaller side, hard to justify the price . The matcha cookie was just ok as well.

Everything Salt Bread Plain - $7.80

Review is just for their salt breads. Had purchased a plain salt bread and an everything salt bread plain. They are very pricey for six-inch sized bread rolls. The plain salt bread was $7.20 and the everything salt bread was $7.80. The bread rolls are a bit dense and the inside texture was a bit mushy. Personally, not my choice for tasty bread rolls pastries and the high prices don't make these a good value.

I got to try Mellobun at the new Ca Phe Haru shop. I know I've tried Mellobun before at various pop up events, but finally putting in a review for them. I love the Asian inspired flavors and the fusion themes. The cookie itself is very soft and flavorful, it's perfect. You can tell by the quality that they put in a lot of effort and thought with their baking. I'm excited to get to try more items!

Everything I got to try was absolutely stunning both visually and taste! Out of the cinnamon rolls the strawberry miso carmel was my favorite ( but the matcha went crazy too). I love the use of the unique flavor pairing and the perfect texture of the pastries. The coffee toffee cookie was my favorite of the two but only by a slim margin. The one savory item I got to was buttery and great flavor. Slightly warmed it was * chefs kiss*. The baker/owner was super sweet and I loved the setup at the popup! Giving rustic bakery and with the pop of the pink of the boxes it was perfect to stand out in comparison to other bakery pop ups I've seen. Overall 11/10 and can't wait to try more items... the Ube cinnamon roll and pandan butter cake are calling out to me hehe.

I went to ca fe haru to get these! It was such a cute cafe and everyone there was so nice! The cinnamon rolls were pretty good! I do wish that they were taller and fluffier for the price. Nonetheless they were delicious and unique flavors! They were also not too sweet which I really liked!

Dual review for bakery and Haru Cafe add Mellobun has no store front. The matcha was good, the coffee was ok. No flavor issues with the Cinnabon or salt bread. But $12.50 for a room temp Cinnabon and $11.50 room temp salt bread isn't really justifiable on the flavor to satisfaction rating.

I decided to go for the chicken and mushroom congee. (rice porridge.). I also got a green onion hotdog roll to take home with me. To drink, I had a green tea with lemon. The congee was amazing. A rich complex flavor. It had a little bit of ginger in it, you could definitely taste the ginger, but it did not overwhelm the rest of the porridge. The chicken was good, and for the mushroom, they used black mushrooms, which have a deeper flavor than regular mushrooms. So very good. It looked like a small bowl, but I couldn't finish it. Some came home with me, and it reheated very well. It also came with Chinese donuts to put in the porridge. Chinese donuts are a little bit different. They definitely taste like a doughnut, except they are not sweet at all. They are savory donuts, and are perfect to use as a crouton, so to speak. The green tea was very good, and they didn't overdo it with the lemon, and that hotdog roll that I had later, the pastry was delicious with just a little bit of a "chew" to it, they were definitely high-quality hot dogs, and it wasn't just green onion. They had something mixed in, I'm not sure what it was, but it didn't taste raw like green onion can. Just a great lunch. I'll be back. Thanks.

My fave was the Ube Coconut. The mango ones were good too; the mango flavor really came through. They both tasted pretty much the same - just that one had sticky rice and the other had sago. The donuts were soft and not too sweet. If you like chocolate, you'll love the Dubai Chocolate donut. The chewy Dubai cookie is like a stuffed mochi - quite sweet.
