Rookies Cookies is located on Pearl st. in downtown New Albany right where Federal Hill used to be. Easy enough to find but you'll be lucky if you can catch them open. I've gone to their store twice and the only reason I caught them the second time was because it was Harvest Homecoming. Follow the link for their posted hours. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/beWNSz4-LBw9_BRngEuPjw?select=QCDjWAyrz-HcpAdmPzSBhQ So, little known fact, I am easily bribed with cookies. I will eat any unattended cookies. I love cookies almost as much as I love beer. Cupcakes can kiss my ass. Cookies are where it's at. Rookies Cookies is indeed worthy of seeking out. Seeing my chance to finally purchase the sugary objects of my desire, I grabbed a box of butter cookies with one hand and a box of peanut butter patties with the other. The peanut butter patties are great. They remind me of the Girl Scout peanut butter cookies... but homemade. They simply taste better and I bet if you looked at the ingredient list it might be four items long. No preservatives. No flavor enhancing. Just peanut butter, chocolate, cookie - done. The butter cookies were also stellar. They were light and fell apart in my mouth. The only thing I was missing was a mug of coffee. Or a pint of stout beer. Rookies Cookies, I like you. I really, really, like you. I want you to have operating hours that are actually useful. I'd also like to see what other varieties you offer... because your booth at a small town festival isn't cutting it for me. I've sampled your goods and I'm guessing I've only hit the surface.

My first time in, a couple of days ago, I bought the peanut butter patties (omg) and the Mexican wedding cookies (not so much).

If you're looking for a cozy spot where everything is made from scratch and served with a smile,…read moreLeavin Bakery is that perfect little neighborhood gem. The baked goods here are irresistible. I'm obsessed with their cheese danish (honestly, you can't go wrong with any of their pastries). Whether it's a muffin or a fresh-out-of-the-oven cookie, you can taste the love and homemade quality in every bite. On the savory side, the chicken and waffles is a must-try! And don't get me started on their biscuits and gravy--pure comfort food that hits the spot every time. Leavin Bakery is more than just great food... the atmosphere makes you want to stay a little longer. It's super cozy, always friendly, and the perfect neighborhood hangout. I can't wait to come back and explore their lunch menu--if it's anything like breakfast, I know it's going to be amazing.

The bakery and bread items were plentiful and everything looked delicious. The cinnamon roll was our favorite and it will be the reason to return. I also loved my lemon lavender scone, eating half there and taking home the other half for dessert. I wasn't as happy about the sides from the grill. My eggs were extremely peppery and I gave up eating them because every bite was overwhelming. My two slices of bacon were hard and pitiful, definitely not worth the cost. My friend noted her sausage as "interesting". The space has seating at the grill and two rooms, with one being crowded because of the incoming crowd. However, we were so happy to be there that we didn't mind the visitors and no one was rude to us as they walked along the ordering counter. The owners are a husband and wife team. She was friendly and talkative and we loved her the pride she took of the shop. We left with more pastries and bread. Such great selection and pricing. This is a reason to promote this shop. I've paid more for less quality but now know to come to Leaven Bakery.

If you visit Louisville and don't stop here for a bite to eat, I feel sorry for your taste buds and…read morebelly. All of the reviews about the Danwich are TRUE! True people! Because it was bigger than my head (ok, maybe this is a slight exaggeration but not by much) i had to disassemble it to eat it in stages. First off were the waffle fries and I found them to be tasty, crunch and fluffy in all the right spots. Once the taters were off I cut that biggie baby in 8 'Oh My Danwich' slices. Y'all, I rarely find myself at a loss for words, even my high dollar, 10 letter ones, but I can't fill this space with all the adjectives I would want in describing this sanwich that would make you want breakfast for every meal. The sausage had that savory salty pork taste that makes you happy you're not a vegetarian with an egg slice that was fluffier than my German Shepherd's downy fur. The cheese even had a nice pull with the topper being their chive aioli. And that sandwich was just the beginning because I also ordered a Strawberry Cruffin, Bourbon Peach hand pie and a raspberry Danish to have as late night snacks. The handpie didn't do it for me. The peaches lacked flavor that I found myself asking bestie if she wanted it because I was jiat going to toss in the trash after just 2 bites. The strawberry mascarpone cream in the cruffin was silky smooth and berrylicious with the croissant being flaky and fluffy. It was almost like a sweet and savory after school snack. The kind of bakery item that keeps you coming back for more. And more. And the piece de resistance was the raspberry Danish. I've lived my 61 years learning to never turn down raspberry anything and today, my raspberry research paid off. One hundred percent tenfold. Even though the glaze drizzle was super sweet, the flaky danish offset it with that light crunch but fluffy innards. Y'all, with each bite I just fell more in love. The Danish was so good that when I came to my last bite not only was I sad that it would soon be gone but I wanted to cry. Cry y'all. Over a Danish! Yes, do it. You only live once. Order the Danwich & the Danish. You won't be sorry. You can pay me in Butchertown gift cards. Or Bourbon. Hubby's brother lives across the Ohio so, next time he goes to visit them I'm going with him. Just so I can drive over here and try their lunch items and grab more danishes. The folks were super friendly, the place both clean and quiet. Which, kinda surprised me because the food is so good I couldn't understand why there weren't lines around the block. That changed the longer we dined in as folks just started roaming in. I said to my friend that the Louisville folk must get started late in the day.

Haha) as a good choice along the way that fit my criteria. And I have to say, my virtual assistant wasn't wrong! The place had a historic feel, located in 19th century building. With big deli counters but also with heavy wooden shelves with bourbon/liquor! How'd that for a one stop shop! But more importantly, the food was very tasty and service - excellent! We tried The Butcherblock and The Wag sandwiches - each great in their own way! (They did forget to put the cookie but when we prompted about it - they handed us 2 instead!) ah and coffee was good too. So, if you are in the area - absolutely worth the stop!
