A true variety store they have a little bit of everything from pet supplies and hardware to spices and bolts of fabric all priced reasonably. The floors creak in just the right places and you can still buy candy by the piece. We always visit when we're in town but Christmas time is just magical. Decorations and the hustle and bustle of the season just can't help igniting a festive feeling. The employees are kind and engaging. Finally no visit is complete without bringing home a pound (or more) of the chocolate covered peanut brittle. They just don't make shops like these anymore, what a treasure!

Hobby Recycling is located just west of Grand Rapids. Besides having new merchandise they have gently used trains and scenery too. I have assembled an almost complete Amtrak Empire Builder and Santa Fe Chief. I also have a good start on a UP passenger train and Sound Transit's Sounder.
