Haven't visited Room for Molly in a while and was lucky enough to return during their holiday pop-up bar. Milly's is a cozy little bar that has been noted in Westword's 100 Bars in the past couple of years. I love a place with fantastic decor. I walk out of there wanting to go buy furniture and attempt the same style in my own home. It's very cute, quaint, and comfy. For the pop-up, the theme was Apres-Ski, which is trending heavily right now. The holiday design and decor was perfect for Milly. While they had a holiday drinks menu donned with mulled wine, buttered rums, and egg nog, which is what I ordered, the regular menu Milly offers was also available. This menu consists of several "throwback" cocktails from previous decades. You can't go wrong with a gimlet. Milly's is always busy but the servers are fantastic and are very knowledgeable about all their drinks and are happy to help with drink recommendations based on your preferences. If you're in the area, definitely get a reservation and head here for a drink or two. Milly will take great care of you! read more

I attended an event at Room for Milly the past Wednesday night and had a wonderful time immersing myself in this charming cocktail lounge/bar that had stood the test of COVID time. Per one of the owners, Fiona, who greeted us the attendees upon arrival, this place hit Denver's bar scene in February of 2020. Only three weeks into their newborn phase, the pandemic shut down literally everything. To hear the story from Fiona as to how the business had survived was so hard to fathom (if I was a business owner going through the same situation, I would miserably fail.) We had to remove our figurative hats to say our sincere accolades for her success story. Let's get into the main ingredients of my dining experience, shall we?? Elegant or classy? Yes, both are present in everything I saw while I spent a good 1.5 hours here. Their teal-colored menu books contain a large selection of high-quality craft cocktails. I got intimidated by it because I didn't know which one to get. I had somewhat late-night side gig shift I was obligated to work after the event so I chose to go with one of the non-alcoholic one (Calistoga at $12 that consists of Raspberry Thyme Shrub, Lime, Honey and non-alcoholic Prosecco. Lightly sweet with a bit of sourness; I absolutely enjoyed this N/A drink ). As a matter of fact, this beautifully reddish cocktail caught some other attendee's attention; she was compelled to ask me what I was drinking so I told her it was one of the non-alc ones which was suggested by one of the bartenders. Due to the event (the place was closed for the regular public), the lounge had several large dishes for us to munch on (hummus with fresh veggies, cheese, nuts, olives and potatoes chips etc. And all those things are listed in the "Bites" section of the menu along with other items that weren't included in the dishes they served for the event attendees. It certainly is not a place where you can have a filling dinner meal. For that reason, you can have a nice cocktail here before or after a meal (so you have to go elsewhere to do so.) You can book a table if you would like but their website says, "walk-ins HIGHLY encouraged"! Love that welcoming attitude of this absolutely loverly (Eliza Doolittle way of saying) place! Adorable cocktail lounge with a great ambiance. The inside is decorated beautifully and they offer outdoor seating as well with large umbrellas. It rained during our visit and we stayed dry under the umbrellas thankfully. Drink selection is impressive and everything our party tried was tasty! Fun selection of small bites including stuffed olives, truffle popcorn, hummus that was so fresh and delicious and cheese plate, sausages, etc. Service was great and we were even given a complimentary champagne to celebrate a birthday in our party. Decided to come here with a girlfriend that was in town for the weekend, and absolutely loved it. We walked in on a Thursday night around 8:30, there was plenty of seating available, I initially chose this place because I was also very hungry and we wanted to be able to snack on some delicious appetizers while enjoying cocktails, so I chose seating that had an upright table. All the tables had really ornate, modern style, with comfortable couch's and armchairs. The bartender Guillermo was amazing, he made great recommendations and steered me towards the Delta Royale but with Mezcal instead of tequila for my first drink, which I really enjoyed. I was really impressed by the menu, the comprehensive descriptions and literary allusions blew me away, it was like reading a catchy novel and really helped set the mood for each drink Unfortunately, the food menu was much more sparse than the Yelp photos lead on. I guess they must have made some changes and stopped serving as many dishes and geared more towards a cocktail bar. They had stuff like nuts, popcorn, hummus and chips and the like. This is the only reason I'm giving it four stars, because this really was not obvious before I came, and I ended up having to go get food somewhere else after I left. I even showed Guillermo the Yelp page, and he thought for a second that I was looking at an entirely different business because he did not recognize any of the dishes. The truffle popcorn was delicious, the nuts were OK (The flat ones had a little bit of a sweet roast which were delicious, but the other ones were not as yummy, but very healthy I'm sure) For my second cocktail, he recommended a hibiscus Mezcal Rita, which was not on the menu, and was so perfect to complement my first drink. Stopped by Room for Milly during date night as it's located on Platte St where you can find a variety of bars and cocktail lounges so we headed that way and Room for Milly caught our eye. When you walk in, you are greeted by a friendly hostess. We went on a Wednesday night so it was not very packed but be aware that the place is small so I would recommend making a reservation- there is about 5 tables plus the bar. However, I was so pleased with the ambiance! It was apres-ski decorated which made the place feel cozy. The drinks were delicious as well, I got a spicy marg with mezcal that they did not have on the menu but agreed to make. They were attentive of our drinks. I recommend stopping by for a date night or grabbing drinks with a girlfriend as it's very aesthetically pleasing- including the bathroom! Do want to mention there wasn't a drink in the menu that was less than $14 besides the happy hour drinks. However, I would go back as drinks were delicious! read more

Walking down Platte, you are met with tons of options for drinks and food, most of them fairly average if not at least interesting. What you might not expect is to stumble upon a too quality cocktail bar with a unique menu that should have you coming back to try more and more combinations. I saw a recent review of Room for Milly that said "a New York vibe with a Colorado setting," and having spent most of my life there, the past six years in Chicago, and now a frequent visitor to Denver, I can honestly say that rings true. The decor and music certainly give off that vibe, though the staff are far friendlier than just about any cocktail bar you're going to find back home. I want to highlight the My Dearest Pike, a cocktail that comes with the warning of "Not for a first time visitor." Well, I was never one for reading directions, and I'm glad I laughed this disclaimer off because I've never had anything like this before in my life. The aroma is straight scented candle, which yields to a delicate yet complex coconut balanced with agricole and tiki bitters. The spiced pandan cordial elevates this to unexpected brilliance, just an exceptional cocktail that stays balanced and intriguing until the last drop. Even today, that aroma is still whispering in my brain, really something. The point off is the food. Not the quality, that's there, even something as simple as the sourdough is done very well. But, for the prices, the portions are a bit off (hey, New York vibe!). The burrata dish was delicious, however it was deconstructed and to be eaten with essentially a toothpick, pretty much impossible given the drops of burrata and pine nuts. Room for Milly left little to be desired! The ambiance is dessert for unsatisfied eyes. I came with a girlfriend to take advantage of The Denver Passport (bogo free drinks at many Denver hot spots). The Passport said we'd get bogo free Signature Cocktails, but we were told that instead we could only order Spritzes. This was a bummer, but the Spritzes were pretty tasty. I started with the Hotel National and liked it despite missing the taste of the rum. I finished with the Sangria, and it truly was the perfect mix between traditional sangria and a spritz. This is the cutest place to grab cocktails to celebrate a special occasion! This spot is 1920s inspired but feels so modern. We went here for my birthday and it did not disappoint! Atmosphere is 5 stars, drinks are 5 stars, small bites are 5 stars, and service was awesome!! Note that they don't have full plates to eat so don't come here starving. This would a great spot to have pre-dinner drinks or a dessert/drink after dinner. (I saw at least one sweet item on the menu.) I assume their menu changes seasonally so I'm looking forward to seeing what they offer as the seasons change! They offer gluten-free, dairy free, vegan, and vegetarian small bites! Ok - I love this place! One of my favorite cocktail bars in Denver for sure. It strikes a vibe balance between retro quirky bar and classy speakeasy. I'm digging it. I've come here on several occasions, and tried different cocktails each time. The standout favorite for me has to be the Penwoman Daisy. This seriously tastes like a creamsicle. We ordered the tiki of the week which had rum, an aloe Vera liquor, and pineapple which was tasty! We also ordered the SS drink, and due to it being one of our birthdays, our waitress bought one of them which was very sweet and unexpected! We then ordered the popcorn (large) and the burrata. This was kind of the downfall for me, the popcorn was tasty, but LOADED with kernels and under popped pop corn which was really disappointing. The burrata was also not what I was expecting based on ordering burrata elsewhere in Denver. Usually you get the whole ball of cheese and lots of bread, but this was little clumps or cheese and only three pieces of bread (I hate when restaurants give you an odd number of something because it makes sharing so hard). On the menu it also said it only came with peaches and balsamic but there were numerous tomatoes in it and neither of us like tomatoes and likely would not have ordered this had we known that. The food quality was eh and I felt overpriced for what it was, but I was pleased to see on the check the burrata was $12 opposed to the menu price of $14 which seemed more accurate. Based on all the other positive reviews, I am guessing I was here on an off night. We had a reservation on a Friday for 7pm but had to wait another 15 minutes before we were seated. The hostess was super kind and apologetic which was appreciated- especially since the wait was partially due to tables being sanitized. Our server left much to be desired. She was not super knowledgeable and didn't seem to know the menu well. We interacted with some of the other waitstaff and they were great, so she seemed to be an exception rather than the rule. We got the coconut old fashions and they were decent. We also got a few little bites of food- deviled eggs and some other nibbles- and they were delicious and came out quickly. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. The interior of the bar is beautiful and well designed, making our time inside enjoyable. We ordered two cocktails (a mojito and a south side) and one mock tail (can tab). All three were very refreshing and well made. The price point is a little higher than other cocktail bars in the area but worth a visit from time to time. Woah! Where do I start. The food, the drinks, the story/vibe? Everything about this place was on point and exactly what I expected. I ended up reading about this place early in quarantine times and was bummed I wasn't able to try it in person. I ended up skipping their virtual drink tastings but wish I didn't in hindsight. The overall vibe of this place is great. It's well decorated and really makes you feel like you stepped into a well thought out and unique comfy environment when you walk in (also the bathroom has the coolest light haha. In addition, their menu itself has a bunch of drinks and themed stories behind Milly, who I'm not sure is a real person or character. The menu has a good selection of drinks and I can't remember exactly what we ordered, but I got an old fashioned which was so well done with their own unique flavors which were accentuated well. The other was the Parker Cinemas, which based was an alcoholic coke that was phenomenal. As far as food goes, I think they have a rotation of menu items so it changes but everything we had was well thought out and great. Honestly, the cheapest and best bar snacks I've had for the price. Also the truffle popcorn was my favorite thing, couldn't see my self spending that much on a bowl of popcorn but it was so worth it. Overall everything about this place is on point.
