Been taking my paraplegic corgi boi, Archie, here for the last two years. Dr. Portie, all the vets…read more& the vet techs, & this clinic are a model for veterinary practice & care in 2023 (!!!!). That's a fact, jack. They go above and beyond your standard vet care, and are very reasonably priced. Dr. Portie performed my Archie's neuter surgery, & made himself available right away to see Archie in-person when Archie had a bad reaction to the surgery (which is resolved / Archie is fine!). Dr. Portie cares a ton, has a hyper-level attention to details, plus the tenure, top education & knowledge that make him a well-respected, bonafide expert in his field, and the best vet (care) an average peasant like me can get! I drive us all the way out to Dripping Springs from Austin, when i have a vet literally less than a 5 min drive from where i live...This team & clinic are worth every drop of gas and second of time spent coming to/fro here! I know they also see horses & snakes, in addition to dogs & cats. I trust them with the special needs care of my precious Archie, & there's very few doctors & teams I can honestly say that about. Super grateful for this special crew & care!

I experienced zero empathy and a very condescending attitude while trying to schedule an appointment for my pet, who has complex medical conditions. As a pet owner, I was simply trying to ensure my pet would be matched with the appropriate veterinarian who understands this condition and could provide proper care. Instead of feeling supported, I felt dismissed and talked down to during the interaction. Compassion and professionalism should be the standard, especially when dealing with worried pet owners and medically complex cases.

I was concerned that I would not be able to…read morefind someone willing to care for non domesticated pets(even though our chickens and donkeys are very tame and friendly) . I found Jennifer on a website called Thumbtack. She answered my request in a matter of minutes. Jennifer was willing to handle all o the details associated with the very specific needs of each set of animals.... Her communication was amazing and she was very detail oriented and had us fill out a sheet for each animals needs/vets/feeding/routine/specifics. She came out a week prior and did a complete and thorough walk through of the entire routine for each animal's A.M. and P.M. care. She followed up with texts and emails the day before her pet sitting time to make sure we were all set. Jennifer had to let chickens in/out of the coop, feed, gather eggs and make sure they were tucked in safely in their coop at night. She fed, brushed and even scooped manure from the donkey stall and pen and visited with the donkeys. She fed , took care of litter box, talked to and won over our shy kitty in 3 days time. Jennifer updated us every evening with a text to let us know how things were and even snapped a photo of our kitty and sent it to us. When we got home, Jennifer had picked up all of our mail and left us a detailed note on the pets and followed up with an email making sure we arrived safely and the pets were ok. We could not have been happier with Sunset Canyon Pet Care. We are already working out the details for a week long trip in July to use her services again. Jennifer is more than reasonable with her pricing and goes the extra mile to make sure she understands all of the needs of the pets. So happy we found Sunset Canyon Pet Care. Kay SW Austin 78737

The doctors at Sunset Canyon are good, kind people whose passion is helping us keep our pets up and running. They have many years of combined experience. I was a valued employee there from 1999-2011. As this part of Hays county continues to grow in leaps and bounds, so do the locally owned businesses, I feel the core values that began with Drs Amber and Lamar Crossland are carried on in the hearts of the doctors and staff at Sunset Canyon today. Thank you, Gary and Erin, for keeping my girl feeling good this weekend.

::Just a note: I am a personal friend of the owner, Catherine O'Donnell::…read more That said, this is one of only three trainers I will recommend in the Austin area. Having seen Catherine interact with not only her own dogs, but client dogs, I can personally say she is knowledgeable beyond belief and you can completely trust you are in excellent hands (and paws) with The Ranch For Canine Training and Behavior. This facility is immaculate. There is plenty of parking and her indoor facility is well lit and very well cared for. Catherine's knowledge extends way beyond basic training. She has handled and titled multiple dogs in conformation, obedience and protection work. This is a very big deal as many trainers have not successfully competed with and titled dogs to the level she has. She knows canine structure and behavior very well. These qualities are very hard to come by in a trainer. Not only the above, but she is great with communication on the human front. I challenge you to meet a more caring, loving, detail oriented dog trainer! She is fantastic with communication on the human level. Great lady, fantastic training space and a solid place to take your pup for schooling.

I am also the proud new mom of a pug puppy (11 pounds at 6 months-LOL), so we hired Catherine to train our pups for the AKC S.T.A.R Puppy certification. I was blown away by Catherine's knowledge, communication with our puppies and ability to train we humans to be better leaders for our dogs. Not to mention we had so much fun!!! Catherine recently opened a lovely new facility on Hwy 290 just off RR12 and not only does she do private instruction, but also group classes and she brings in experts for training on pet massage, etc. I look forward to taking my puggy back for further certifications and classes with Catherine. She truly is a "dog whisperer" and her patient, yet commanding methods will ensure dogs (and their owners) of all ages, shapes and sizes can learn to be the best they can be! Thank you Catherine!!
