A great spot for studying, a coffee date, or catching a quick bite. Roost is pretty small and cozy, but I haven't had trouble finding a table. The coffee is fantastic, with an awesome pastry and savory item selection. I can personally vouch for the quiches, strawberry cream cheese bread, and chocolate chip cookie, though I'm sure you couldn't go wrong with anything!! Finally, excellent coffee in Pullman! My fiancé and I have been living in Pullman for about two years and this is by far the best place for coffee! We have both worked in the coffee industry for several years and we appreciate a good cup of coffee. Unfortunately, Thomas Hammer, The Daily Grind, and Cafe Moro have all provided less than good coffee experiences due to poor coffee quality and marginally-helpful employees. The Roost had awesome coffee, friendly, knowledgeable staff, and a hipster, warming atmosphere. First, the coffee quality was so much better than anything we have had in Pullman. I ordered a traditional macchiato and my fiancé ordered a vanilla latte. The shots were pulled properly for my macchiato and did not taste burnt or bitter. The latte was Excellent!! The homemade syrups really made a difference! Although her latte was a little sweet for my tastes, the milk was steamed very well and she enjoyed it much more than any other latte in Pullman! The atmosphere is a hipster, cute, cozy feel. The shop is quite small, making it kinda crowded during the peak hours. It very much so has a small, local feel. I cannot wait for winter so my fiancé and I can go visit this tiny shop and enjoy being warm inside with a quality cup of joe in our hands! After talking with one of the knowledgable staff members, we found out that they make their pastries and sandwiches in-house, in addition to their syrups (with seasonal flavors!). They change their drip coffee roast blends on a monthly basis with new beans from different, local roasters. You know a coffee place is classy when they only serve up to 16oz (no, a 24oz white mocha frap is not coffee). We will for sure be returning for more delicious beverages! read more

Love this place! My first time trying their coffee was when WSU ACADA had them cater our coffee and breakfast. IT WAS DELICIOUS and I've been hooked since. So hint hint, they cater! When I walk in, I usually get a Cubano flavored latte, caramel or vanilla depending on my mood, and a scone or salad. I absolutey love the savory scones (ham and cheese) and their chickpea salad! All future trips to the Palouse will include at least one stop at Roost. I just enjoyed a very flavorful baked egg and veggie dish which proved much larger than it appeared -- likely in part because it followed a warmed cinnamon roll. The cinnamon roll. Typically cinnamon rolls are a food neutral for me. I am just as happy passing one up. This, however, may have been the best I've tried, and one of the only ones I've completely polished. It was soft without being gooey, and it had a very slight salty hint that tempered the sweetness perfectly. The cream cheese frosting was generous without being copious and the frosting tasted like my mom's cream cheese frosting! My latte was very good and typically I love a coffee place for its coffee beverages far more than for the food menu. But I would absolutely come back just for the food. Service was friendly and the wifi has worked great. read more

Unfortunately I found the cold brew too bitter but perhaps that's a trait of cold brews that I didn't know about. Excellent coffee shop that offers everything a shop engrossed in true coffee shop culture could offer. 1. They make their food and pastries and they happen to taste amazingly delicious--I think it's family owned as evidenced by a family sharing resemblance always tending to their place of business--I like that, they care and it's obvious. 2. Cold brew they serve is amazing. The tea is meh, but the coffee products make up for what is lacking in their tea offerings. 3. Vibes are sexy, rustic, northwest kind of vibes. I've been my most productive at Roost and I appreciate the atmosphere created by the staff who happen to really care about their jobs and also know how to real social cues in that they aren't in your space too much, but are the right amount of friendly. I mean, who really wants to chat about meaningless small talk when I could be sipping my cold brew and eating my homemade biscuit.... That they will warm for you if you wish. 4. It's the best coffee shop Pullman can offer for the quality of products, location, vibe AND I can't forget... Their CONSISTENT INTERNET.... That one is really important.... Love the staff, the drinks, and the atmosphere. I have an espresso machine at home and got their espresso blend. It's some of the best coffee I've ever put in the grinder! They also serve machiatos traditionally instead of adapting to the retarded Starbucks version (which such shops will never see my face again). This is a very cute coffee shop/cafe! I traveled here from New York City and Roost reminds me of some of my favorite artisanal coffee shops there. Best latte I've ever had! Even though they were very busy, they took their time with my order and ensured I received everything promptly! Outstanding Orange Mocha made with homemade orange syrup. Coconut cream pie I had yesterday was to die for with a layer of dark chocolate on the crust. Today my coconut scone had a topping a delicious lemon curd. Service was perfect on both visits with two different employees. Outside patio is great for relaxing and watching the world go by. This is a wonderful place with incredibly nice staff and absolutely delicious food and great coffee. Seriously, all the ingredients are of high quality. What a great place for lunch! I'm staying in Pullman for a couple of weeks and always looking for a great coffee shop, nice place to sit, central to other things... This place was a perfect fit. I'm from Seattle and am a daily coffee drinker. I prefer smaller coffee shops than the larger world wide ones, as I enjoy supporting the locals and more times than not, they put more effort into the quality of their roast and overall experience at their establishment. I enjoyed a 16oz dark coffee of the day and a ham sandwich with additional herbs and cheeses added, to make it one of a kind, rather than a typical ham and cheese. I scored with this place, no doubt you'll enjoy it too. The 2 girls, I would guess College students, had great personalities and were hopping because it was busy. It's a tiny place, but sometimes those are the best. Simple, a few sandwiches and salads to choose from and of course pastries available too. :) Cheers to this wonderful small business... Best Bistro I've been to in the upper Northwest. The coffee, baked oatmeal, and atmosphere was wonderful.

Out of all the coffee places in Pullman, this one is one of the best. The staff are friendly and professional, sometimes chatting up patrons and always greeting you with a smile. They once forgot my order and the man running the counter apologised profusely and gave me a card for a free drink, which wasn't necessary but greatly appreciated. The food compared to the other coffee places in Pullman are the best, specifically their quiches and ever changing display of buttery baked goods whose aroma is ever present. The only thing the other coffee places in Pullman have on roost is their later hours and they have more seating available, which isn't that important. At least, to me. Definitely worth a visit. read more
