I have been here several times and it has consistently been a nice experience. The staff is generally friendly, helpful, and welcoming each time I visit. The space itself is clean and comfortable. It does lean a bit darker inside, but that seems to be part of the aesthetic they are going for. It gives the place a relaxed coffee shop vibe that works well if you want to sit, unwind, or get some work done. The coffee is solid. It is good, just not the best I have had. Still enjoyable and worth grabbing if you are stopping in. Their snack selection is where they shine a bit more. When the pastries are fresh they are really good. I have tried a few items like the banana loaf and lemon loaf and they have both been tasty and satisfying with a cup of coffee. Overall this is a great place if you are looking for a clean, generally quiet, and relaxing spot to enjoy a coffee and a sweet treat. I would definitely recommend stopping by. read more

My wife and I were recently in Stamford, and Modern Love came up as the highest rated nearby coffee shop. They actually had a publication on the wall praising them for their high quality. Modern Love roasts their own beans. I bought a house blend and another bag of beans. I also had a Black Cold Brew and it was definitely well above average and balanced for a coffee shop cold brew. The shop is nice. Service was reasonably efficient. We arrived about 20 minutes before closing on Sunday during Memorial Day weekend, which seemed to make the one person working somewhat anxious because she presumably wanted to get her weekend going. I obviously get that, but she could have been a touch less obvious about it as her 5 minute warning was a bit intense. In any event, I would definitely return. 4.25 Stars read more

Looking for breakfast options, I stopped by Turning Point after hearing some rave reviews. The small storefront is cozy and seats up to 3-4 groups, with a counter next to the window with individual seating; it looks like you can get work done here if you'd like, but client turnover was pretty frequent as well. I ordered an iced vanilla latte with oat milk and their avocado toast with eggs and bacon (toppings cost extra) on sourdough. While I liked the coffee, the avocado toast was a definite win for me; the portion was sizeable and perfect for brunch. Combined, the two items were almost ~$20, so I'll definitely have to save this option as a (worthwhile) treat for every now and then. Parking is plentiful with a lot in front and an adjacent unused lot, which is also a plus. read more

This was my first time coming to Turning Point and I would definitely come back! The heirloom tomato toast was by far the best of the things I tried, it was topped with really fresh ingredients and the smooth cheese with the crunchy toast was delish. I was less impressed with the quinoa bowl-- the peanut lime dressing was just really acidic and didn't taste that great. Everything beneath it was not dressed at all which makes sense but it ended up being pretty bland spinach, quinoa, and bell peppers with an overpowering dressing on top. I also found the cold brew to be really acidic but had a spicy of my friend's horchata and enjoyed that much more. Service was friendly and food came out fast! Terrible stomachache after drinking the matcha latte with almond milk. Perhaps the cups/pitchers were not cleaned in between making drinks. Nowhere to sit because there were single remote workers sitting at every table of 2-3 nursing their drinks probably for hours on end. One of the padded chairs open up but it was filthy and soiled. Great little cafe to work in and unexpectedly amazing food. I thought I would only go in for a drink and to study, but after seeing their menu, I decided to give the avocado toast a shot. I was very pleasantly surprised at just the look of it. It was a huge cut of multigrain toast so not only was I getting my fill of avocado, but I was also getting some multi grains in there too. Win win. Besides it looking huge, it tasted great. Whoever their chef is was not playing any games when it came to delivering on their lunch menu. It had flavor coming from whatever seasoning they used along with the cut up radishes. It was just great, but not big enough for me to not eat the whole thing. There's always enough room to finish a tasty meal. The drink was also very well made. I had the chai tea latte, and it was just right. Usually I like mine sweeter, but this seemed to do the trick. If you're studying or working, this is a great place to do it. It seemed to be pretty quiet with lots of outlets. With 4 tables each seating two and a nice decor, Turning Point sources and grinds their own coffee. The service has been uniformly excellent. They have a Rewards Card giving you a free coffee drink every so many. Their sandwiches (their food service closes earlyish in the afternoon) are excellent too. This is an excellent spot here in Stamford. The Vibe: The vibe feels like as if Ikea had a cool, older (non-pretentious) cousin (let's name him..Ben.) that moved here from San Francisco and was frustrated he didn't have a no-fuss coffee shop to easily ride his bicycle to that made him feel calm, focused and glad that also offered great beverages, to work out of so he opened this place. IF that makes sense to anyone else. (If not: It's well decorated, fresh and modern and clean with more industrial vibes than Ikea vibes (Hence the cool older cousin reference). This is a great place for Ben to work alone out of, meet us with a client or partner, a friend, or even bring a date for coffee and/or wine. But if anyone isn't into coffee or wine, they have really great extra options. Kombucha on tap, and my favorite: the turmeric latte..yum! Location: While this is located in a very busy area in Stamford, I love that it isn't directly downtown. I also love that they're in a location with parking (even though it can get a little chaotic in that lot, it's still nice to not have to "find" parking) If ever I have to bring something to the UPS in that strip, I'm excited because it means I'll plan to stop here too. Talked into trying this fine coffee house out by a daily patron and let me be the first of many to tell you that, this place is short of amazing. It's small like a Starbucks without all of the hustle and bustle. The staff seem to be very friendly and didn't rush me as I was a-little indecisive on what to get, I finally went with the chirozo eggs and cheese on sour dough ( you read it right SOUR DOUGH BREAD ) which put the icing on the cake for the sandwich for me. The coffee as I was told is all roasted in house and it shows in every sip you enjoy. As a treat I had the almond Croissant which blew my mind once I respected-the fact that the slightly hard exterior was protecting the amazing inner workings of a masterpiece. A much needed addition to the Stamford community. We have a lot of coffee places here (Dunkin, SB, Donut Delight, etc.), but not that many coffee shops where you can sit and do work or catch up with friends. The atmosphere is super cozy and the staff is extremely friendly. During my studying at the shop, it seems that there are a lot of regulars that stop by. It made my visit feel very neighborhood-y. I ordered a vanilla latte and it was hand delivered to me. The art was on point, which is appreciated for the insta :) They also have Cross Culture on tap, which is super convenient for when I need a refill of my jug. This spot became my "Cheers" during covid ("Norm!") The whole team is fantastic and a great part of my day every time I go by. Coming from Brooklyn I was concerned about the coffee game in Stamford, but Turning Point is fantastic coffee - I am fully addicted. But wait - theres more! Their food is deadly too. Finally! Competent coffee comes to Stamford! This is a move that is long overdue + I fully expect the area to benefit from the friendly new addition of Turning Point Coffee Roasters. To be clear, when it comes to GOOD coffee, there are typically two ways to go: (1) the first is a gallery-style coffee experience, where the establishment essentially CURATES quality coffee options from other worthy roasters; (2) the second is the fresh-roasted coffee experience, featuring coffee roasted in-house by the same team that serves it. Stamford is already home to another quality coffee destination (Lorca), well-known to be a worthwhile gallery-style experience; but the area has been utterly lacking in a GOOD-QUALITY roaster experience... until now! THAT'S where Turning Point steps up to bat - and confidently knocks it right outta the park. AMBIANCE Stepping through the front door, you can expect to be greeted by the warm glow of vintage-style Edison bulbs dangling softly from the ceiling like incandescent stars. Chillhop-style music thrums energetically at a volume that makes for enjoyable listening without getting in the way. The textures of the interior are soft + hint of home. One entire wall is dedicated to a gorgeous display made up of mirrored windows, floating shelves, potted plants, and stacks of books - all set just above the primary seating area which is neatly organized against the backdrop of a long, plush blue bench. The wall opposite this is brilliantly styled after a minimalist reading nook, featuring mid-century modern chairs you could comfortably spend a whole day in, a cute little coffee table, more floating shelves, popular magazines hung on a ladder rack, and rows of vinyl records. The bar itself is spacious + packed full of goodies. There is room for at least 5 guests at the main bar alone. The equipment behind the bar is sparkling clean. (You can find another bar-style seating area at the front window if you prefer more light + a view.) Top to bottom, this coffee shop mirrors my best vision of what a coffee experience SHOULD be. I wouldn't change a THING. COFFEE + FOOD Just as one would expect, the coffee experience itself is utterly delicious. The menu is diverse + creative without becoming overwhelming, and the baristas are sure to be even more excited about coffee than you are! An ultimate tasting experience would include the Pour Over and/or Siphon Pot options - both of which do a spectacular job of highlighting the unique roasting notes + flavor profiles of the different beans. The pastries that you can find neatly stacked (and covered) on the main bar feature a local baker, who has even created a special macaron just for Turning Point using their own espresso (yum!). Sitting here in the reading nook, I can see those impressive custom macarons, giant cookies, muffins, croissants, a blueberry cake of some sort (looks SO good!), and more. Needless to say, no part of the menu disappoints; in fact, QUITE the opposite - I want to taste every last item right away! Haha! HOSPITALITY Walking through the front door, I was immediately + warmly greeted by Alexa, who smiled invitingly at me from behind the bar. She was working alongside Josh (Josh positively EXUDES a sincere love for coffee-as-art), who shook my hand + asked my name before excitedly introducing me to Chris, the owner. Chris took the time to learn about me and even gave me a casual tour of the shop + roasting station, demonstrating a seriousness + competency that has been sorely missed in the area until now, especially in the area of small-batch coffee roasting - although he attributes the interior design ideas to his wife (smart guy!). CONCLUSION All in all, I couldn't possibly be more impressed with this shiny new establishment than I already am. Turning Point Coffee Roasters promises to become a well-loved addition to the Stamford coffee scene + has already managed to fill an important void worth addressing. If you haven't yet been to Turning Point, don't feel badly: they only JUST opened this past Saturday (9/8/18). But when you DO decide to swing by for a visit, plan on staying awhile to enjoy the bright + welcoming atmosphere. I was quite excited to experience the coffee at Turning Point. I have been wishing for a coffee spot at this location for years. Unfortunately, I do not think I will be returning. The cold brew I ordered was not good.. at all. I was expecting fresh, well roasted coffee, but instead I recieved a drink brewed with burnt and unpleasant tasting beans. We also ordered a Matcha latte, becauwe we were advised that the matcha is too powdery as a plain tea. This drink too was unpleasant and felt gritty. I found this little gem of a coffee shop looking for a cool WiFi "satélite" space to work next to my ups drop off. I was taken in right away by the decor & aroma of roasted coffee beans. I've been back 3x solo & with my love to work, relax & day at the bar for a lazy Sunday morning muffin & brews (pics). Free WiFi, delicious coffee, alternative milk choices (oat & almond) & fresh muffins, loafs, scones & such. Good music on the pipes and comfy seating with plenty of charging points.
