Family owned. RSVP suggested. Ed was super nice, informative & generous with the pours & coffee. Kind of a "trek" to get there; gotta drive up a 1 lane, shared road. Good luck! But worth it! Hands down, Kona coffee is SO delicious! They put so much aloha into it. You can tell! Literally this place is a "hidden gem"! Sweet view of a black sand beach.

Wonderful tour, we called day of to see if we could drop by and they were great at accommodating us. We arrived a little later than expected so the guide just started a new tasting and tour for us as soon as she finished the last. The spot is super cute with open air windows (not sure what the correct term is) and beautiful views. Would love to drink a cup of coffee there every morning. As part of the tour we got 2 tastings and then we got to see the farm, where the coffee is roasted, and also learn about some of the other plants they grow. The neighbor's dog also joined us for the tour which was adorable. The road to get there is a little bumpy and it can be challenging if there's a car going the opposite way but they texted us directions and Google maps also was spot on. We bought a bag of Kona coffee for I believe 65 dollars. Since the tour was free (unlike some of the places our hotel advertised) splurging on a bag was fine! I am currently enjoying my Kona coffee at home wishing I was back there still.

They do complimentary coffee tours and it's amazing! They have medium and dark roasts that are incredibly smooth and the aroma is exquisite. The farm grows all sorts of stuff like turmeric, elephant taro, papaya besides just coffee. They drive up was gnarly but doable with a 2WD. Highly recommend checking this place out and supporting a local coffee farm.

What an amazing learning and Kona coffee experience. The owners of Rooster Farm are a breed of authentic one sees rarely, anywhere, let alone a small, grounded (coffee joke) family running their highly acclaimed 6 acre coffee plantation. Avoid the larger more corporate-like operations which promote bespoke, curated and lifestyle-y offerings. Rooster Farm warmed my heart, my palate and my mind, infusing (another coffee joke) it with more knowledge about Kona coffee, its economics and employment issues, indeed the very nature of fruit itself! Coffee like all fruit ripens in waves. If you want only the best, you can't machine harvest. You pick one bean at a time, and only when it's at its peak. That's the type of remarkable dedication to excellence the lovely owners at Rooster Farms share, and that's why you should support them.

Ed was awesome! This was a very intimate and unique tour. He made us two types of coffee and talked us through the whole process. The view was absolutely amazing. Getting there is a little tricky, but maps is taking you to the right spot (keep going!).

Seriously awesome tour! They ward you beforehand about the road! It was quite the one lane hill to get up to the coffee farm plus it was raining! We were glad we had a Jeep! Our coffee guide was wonderful, very knowledgeable about the farm and the coffee, we all learned something! We got to sample two different coffees then a short walking tour. It's a free tour and definitely worth it! We bought some coffee at the end, it was very good. 100% recommend this tour!

Amazing experience! If you want to have an intimate coffee tasting and farm tour... this is the place to visit. Things I would have wanted to know before heading over to Rooster farms: - wear long pants/tights. They have mosquito repellent at the farm but those bugs are relentless. My friends and I got bit quite a lot! - call ahead. Make a reservation! They will give you detailed instructions and be prepared for your arrival. We felt bad because we just showed up; luckily, another couple made reservations and we were able to tag along - this tour felt very "homey." If you like just chit-chatting and not being on a strict tour schedule, this place is definitely for you! If you want a commercialized tour/tasting of a Kona Coffee farm, id find another place - to each their own. - the drive is a little bumpy on a tiny road. We were in a huge Ford Expedition so our car was fine. It may seem like you are in the wrong place, but trust your gps. It got us there! All in all, I would recommend visiting this place. There are tons of roosters, a cute dog, little chicks to play with and delectable coffee samples (we tried two different roasts). It was all free! My friends and I tipped; the other couple ended up buying coffee. I learned a lot about coffee and had a wonderful time. Thank you, rooster farms!

Great tour and great view!! It's not your typical tour, it's way better and more personal!! We had a great leader, Axel. He was very knowledgeable and so friendly. The tasting is done in the actual house. It has an amazing view!! It's a must visit when in Kona!! The drive up is really narrow so just beware.

Rooster Farms is a great place to visit to learn about how coffee is made, see where they grow and roast their coffee. The place is literally off the beaten path. To get up to the farm, you'll need to drive up a steep and narrow winding partially paved road... which is all part of the adventure. Once there, you'll be greeted by Ed, Tara, and their two dogs. The tour is free, but you will need to call or email for a reservation. Youll have an chance to try a couple of their coffees. After the tour, you will have an opportunity to purchase their coffee as well. They are also incredibly accommodating. I use an electric motorized scooter to get around and have difficulty ascending stairs. Their demonstrations are usually done on the 2nd floor. They moved everything down to the 1st floor so that I could participate. Additionally, several of my family members speak Chinese only, so my wife and I was prepared to translate. Though his mandarin isn't quite fluent, Ed did most of the tour in mandarin.. that was very appreciated! It is certainly worth a visit, and their coffee makes for a great gift for friends. I would highly recommend Rooster Farms!

Don't order from them online at etsy. They forget to ship your order, they apologize, you forgive them, they mess up again, after waiting for almost two months, you request a refund and They become very rude and argue about everything and anything just to try to have you the a blame for something you didn't do, it's soo sad they won't apologize even when they were wrong. It's horrible customer service and unprofessional. It could been a simple fixture but instead they decide to go on and on.

We visited Rooster Farms as avid coffee lovers curious about Kona Coffee, as well the farming process of Organic Kona Coffee. Tours are done by appointment only, but we were able to be seen same day, quickly. Drove through a gorgeous farming community, with detailed directions given to us by the owners. The roads are narrow but easy enough to drive through and the path up to the Farm is well marked. Once there, we were greeted by one of the farmers/roasters, Axel, who was also our tour guide. We were delighted to meet the people working and living on the farm, as well as the owners of the farm. They are all incredibly friendly and lovely people with a passion for their coffee - and it shows. Axel brewed us a cup of both the Medium Roast Estate Coffee and Dark Roast Estate Coffee using the over pour method in a fancy contraption, but we were informed that brewing any conventional way is fine. I was wary to drink the coffee black as I typically drown my coffee in cream and sugar, but wow - it was delicious. To my inexperienced palate, smooth, sweet, with hints of chocolate. I couldn't believe I was enjoying a cup of "plain ole black coffee", but this coffee quality is anything but plain, speaking for itself, and needing no fillers. We then toured the farm where we learned about the coffee plant itself and how each berry/bean is hand picked from the tree when it is ready, ensuring the best quality coffee. Also learned that the Kona designation is limited to coffee grown in that particular area of only 650ish acres. Often times, what we see as "Kona Coffee" in the grocery store is really a blend, and that purchasing a bag of true 100% Kona Coffee is harder to find, and certified organic, even more so. We also saw the drying process and were shown how the beans are then roasted - in small batches of 15-20 lbs at a time. Truly a labor of love and work of art. During the tour, we walked through the farm and spotted roosters in the gorgeous foliage. There were also other plants on the path, and we were even treated to avocado and star fruit as we walked by, since there were some ripe and ready for picking. (All because Axel is nice, not because it is part of the tour.) Our party was in awe of the passion for their trade and the beauty of the farm and island. Axel is so knowledgeable and was so patient with all our questions and picture taking. His parents must be incredibly proud of all his experience and knowledge. At the end of the tour, they have some coffee you can purchase in person, so we stocked up on both the medium and dark estate roasts to bring home with us. I was happy to find out that you can also purchase online, which I plan to do once I run out. Highly recommend this farm as an enjoyable excursion while visiting the Big Island, as well as recommend the delicious coffee. Thanks again, Rooster Farms!
