Blackened Chicken Wings
Shahrooz E.

I love this place!! It's not fancy and it's a little cramped with just a couple booths to sit and eat at.... but the truth is, YOU'RE HERE FOR THE INCREDIBLE CHICKEN!! Doesn't matter if you try the BBQ or the FRIED or the BLACKENED WINGS... THEY'RE ALL INCREDIBLE!! The pulled pork is good and next time I wanna try the ribs but without fail, every time I go I just can't pass up on their chicken!!

1/2 chicken.

BBQ is in the name z as me it was more of a chicken house. There was a fight between a worker and a customer. They rushed me out the door as they were closing. Hours were wrong on Yelp. Not the best experience. #spicemeister not approved.

Thank goodness... we still have Cecil's in the Twin Cities!!!…read more The mood, the relaxed comfortable and kind staff who do not rush you to sit rush you to order. Instead EVERYONE is 100 % natural welcoming laid back and genuine in wanting to see you content and pleased. Nothing is ever pushed onto you. The quality of the pastrami, its seasoning, the textures and bright flavors of the breads and bagels the nova the chopped liver the extra creamy marinated Cole slaw and perfect half sour pickles ( wISH they had bialys!). All perfect. All old world. Our favorite very old deli in West Palm Beach was sold 1.5 years ago and gone gone gone are the DELIGHTFUL happy charming old staff and the perfect old world flavors, cooking. In Sarasota where we just lived the last 5 years, a new deli closed after just 2 years, and there is nothing left. We've been visiting family in Sarasota every year for 40 years. Gone too in the Twin Ciries is the ownership by brothers Scot and Stu of Hopkin's beloved Crossroads Deli just last year. The new owners, a corporation owning 6-8 other restaurants have CHANGED almost all the recipes for breads, cakes , wonderous cookies and 80 % of all pastries! No more butter, no more fine ingredients and no more of their once " Grossinger's taste/quality" STELLAR seeded rye bread! They even eliminated the lemon flavoring. In their incomparable lemon coconut cake! Their stuffed cabbage is one of their only true deli dishes left. Sandwiches are half their original size...... heart breaking after going there 3-4 times a week for 25 years........ Cecil's of course had to cut back on the $$ use of butter in their pastries. But they have WORKED VERY HARD to still retain their wonderous long long ago heart warming flavors. ALL their sandwiches are AUTHENTIC. Old world New York City flavors! Made with care and love. My husband loves their beautiful generous Nova salmon platte. Noshing away happily! I love their pastrami Rachel's with plentiful half sour pickles lots of Russian dressing and creamy Cole slaw. Mmmmmm. I hope and pray Cecil's owner refrains for a long long time from selling his rare business. We must support Cecil's too.... Or lose it with all the others, and lose part of our joy and heart. Thank you Cecil's .....

Old school all the way. There's a restaurant in the back, and a full-scale deli counter in the front. It is such a good stop. They have their own private parking lot too. Wood paneling, and a bunch of local reviews all over the walls. Clean, normal sound. Simple, with excellent customer service, and a huge menu that will have something that you like. Packed the midweek afternoon we visited, and we did not wait for a table. Loved my bowl of Matzo Soup, superb broth and the Matzo was delicious. Enjoyed my BLT on whole wheat and the homemade potato salad was amazing! Had a cherry cobbler for dessert that was incredible. Restaurant has been open for over 70 years, and I met the owner/manager, Cecil, afterward, and he just oozes customer service being a priority. It's a must-visit place.

On one side is a meat market with a variety of cuts of steaks, lamb, and other meats, which all looked fresh and quite nice. They also have a variety of items such as canned goods, pasta, eggs, etc. on the shelves opposite the meat counter. The entire place is quite sunny, pleasant, and cozy. On the other side is the eat-in, take-out deli sandwiches, that are made to order. The quality of the ingredients is excellent. The bread is freshly made (crispy baguette type) and you have a choice of Roast Beef, Roast Turkey, Tuna Salad, Smoked Ham, or Corned Beef. All sandwiches are $16.50 each (including tax) and come with a choice of mayonnaise, spicy stone ground mustard, red leaf lettuce, thin sliced red onion, salt, pepper, oil, vinegar, raw grated horseradish, pickled jalapeno, and roasted bell pepper. The default includes all toppings so if you don't want everything, be sure to specify what you do NOT want. Surprisingly, they do not carry any diet soda, nor do they stock any national brands (only local pop). There is a large menu on the wall, and you order at the counter and pick up the order (no table service). The food was attractively presented, and very, very good. My only gripe (besides the lack of diet pop) is that it's on the expensive side for lunch. Two sandwiches, a couple of bags of chips, and a couple of cans of pop will easily top $40, although I'd say the quality is top-notch.

I was on the street in front of Clancy's when one of their customers was mis-identified as an officer of an organization that was terrorizing Minneapolis. It had nothing to do with Clancy's! As I tried to get to my car, people yelled the most obscene and disgusting epitaphs at the couple in front of me. I was just walking down Grand Avenue. They were even spitting at this innocent individual. As a liberal who marched for civil rights and against the war in Vietnam during the 1960s and 1970s, I was horrified. Blaming Clancy's is ignorant, and an integral part of how this country is dismantling. Clancy's Meats & Fish is important to our neighborhood, and represents the kindness and empathy that has been representative of Minnesota for decades. Give them your support.

Stopped by for lunch and it was so good…read more They have daily specials, and the portions are no joke. Even a half sandwich is a huge, very filling serving. Everything is made fresh to order. They slice the meat and cheese right there and you can fully customize your sandwich, which I love. The service was phenomenal. Super friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. Cute shop and they also have a great selection of Italian products in the shop, plus their own ready-made items like homemade frozen pizzas and take-and-bake entrees, which is such a nice bonus. It's takeout only, but they make it easy with online ordering. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and portion size. This place is truly a hidden gem.

What we tried: - Italiano sub 3/5 (bread was harder/crustier than I would have liked & sub was so wide it was hard to fit your mouth around it) - Chicago roast beef sub 4/5 (hefty amount of beef) - Daily soup (5/5) chicken vegetable (really great flavor and wide assortment of veg with huge chicken chunks) - Carrot cake (5/5) - Tiramisu (5/5).

I moved into the area about a half year ago and have passed this spot more times than I can count…read more I finally stopped in and was curious about their ultimate cheesesteak. I love myself a cheesesteak and I wanted to see if this would be a new favorite I'd enjoy wearing out. They loaded this sandwich with onions, green peppers, and mushrooms. They added some of their pasta sauce on the bottom as well. The sandwich was good, but I thought it needed a bit more flavoring/spices. The bread was some of the softest I've experienced though and the cheese was a good amount. The combo was paired with a pickle spear and a bag of potato chips. This may sound strange, but can potato chips steal the show? Because they did. Super crunch and salty. Yum-O! I tried their coleslaw too and it seemed like to sat there awhile. It was tasteless and I ended up throwing the pint out. I will say the staff here are very friendly and helped me decide on some sandwiches and gave me an honest review of their favorites and least favorites. I appreciate that. I'm sure those chips will bring me back in the future and I'll be open to trying another sandwich.

Conveniently located off Johnson NE (free parking on the street), this local restaurant serves up some good hoagies, sub-marino sandwiches (see what I did there?), pasta, and other Italian food. It's a unique restaurant because it's kind of like a deli and fast casual restaurant with a few tables inside, but when I arrived shortly after 1 pm, it was pretty empty. Overall, the service was great, it's a family-owned place and the mother and daughter were working and were very pleasant. The place smells terrific, if you like Italian food and good sauces. While the decor is a step-back in time, I really enjoyed the taxidermy walleyes which is a true reflection of being a Minnesota business. The sandwich I selected was good, came with a small bag of chips, and wasn't too pricey - the prices are actually pretty good, but the only thing I would say is the sizes aren't huge. I recommend Marinos if you are in the neighborhood and definitely want to try the pasta and meat ravioli next time!

I immediately started to worry. Unfortunately my worries have slowly " come true" ...and with an extremely upset heart, Crossroads has changed. Scott and Stu had dedication and sheer love of cooking and baking with the BEST of ingredients and exquisite rare perfect use of spices. Their flavors in everything they touched were some of the VERY BEST I have experienced nationally and in my home state of NY where my father taught Biochemistry in the Bronx at Einstein Med School (1955-1980) and where my intense passion for Delicatessen cuisine originated. Coming almost daily to Crossroads truly made my day! I adored EVERYTHING they created. Even shipped a large lemon coconut cake to mom's beloved 90 year old boss at Scarsdale Medical Center 8 years ago! Today: Their rye bread with caraway seeds was identical to Grossinger's. Now almost zero flavor. The broasted chicken if served hot fresh out of the cooker is still excellent. Some of the original spices gone. The lemon coconut cake has zero real lemon flavor just deep yellow coloring, Their pastrami and corned beef also lost 1/3 to 1/2 of their original flavor plus the size of the sandwiches 1/3-1/2 the original size. The new main dishes are almost tasteless. Their original recipes for matzo ball soup, etc are still good - - vary 8-10 rating. They no longer use as much/ perhaps any butter in their coffee cake " breads" which used to be a 10. Many cookies and tiny pastries in the same display case are still good. Compared to many other restaurants today they are now just " an ok". Gone are the days when Crossroads Deli was " TRULY SPECTACULAR "......

Today I tried their Roast Beef on Weck, which is carved roast beef on a type of roll called a Weck (a Kaiser-style roll topped with coarse salt and caraway seeds.). The restaurant was busy, and this is not a trendy place! I'd be surprised if there was anyone in the restaurant who was not of Medicare age (which also describes me; I'm not being ageist, just truthful). This is something that is available for lunch, during the week (not on weekends). Previously, I wanted to order this before. It was at the beginning of the lunch hour, so unfortunately the end pieces were cooked well-done. I asked if they would cut from the center, which is much more rare, but they wouldn't do that. This time, we came later and I could see that the roast beef was gloriously rare, which is what I like. The sandwich was quite enjoyable because it was juicy and flavorful. It comes with a side of cole slaw which is vinegar based (which I liked, but isn't traditional in the Midwest). It's difficult to find good, rare roast been in the Twin Cities, so this was another good find. My wife had the matzo ball soup, which remains high quality. The beef on weck sandwich (with coleslaw) was nearly $20, which is a bit on the expensive side. The service is spotty. It depends upon who is your waitstaff person (I knew it would be slow based on our previous experience with this person).
