Ribs plate with double Mac and cheese, onions, and spicy bbq.
    Erin M.

I've gotten food from them from their food truck and several times takeout at the new brick and mortar location. They are consistently wonderful. The brisket is always juicy and flavorful. The ribs are always tender and have a good rub. They have a variety of options and sides. The Hmong pepper sauce is flavorful. The spicy bbq is MN spicy, but it's a heat that builds and has a good flavor. The staff there are friendly and knowledgeable to answer questions. It's a great addition to the Payne/Phalen neighborhood. They also have tables in the back under an awning. That seems like it will be a great place to eat when the weather is warm. There is also plenty of parking around the back of the building.

Ribs, mashed potatoes, sticky rice and onions.

I really thought it would be better than it was,my food was cold, BBQ sauce was way too sweet and mashed potatoes on top of being cold as ice there was no flavor to it. It tastes like the put cinnamon on the ribs and sticky rice and slaw absolutely no flavor.the reason I gave them a 3star cuz the ppl working there are very nice and polite.

Full slab big portion well seasoned ribs no sauce needed!!!

Craving BBQ and BBQ is what I received. Family owned spot, great customer service!!! Big portions with good seasoning no need for sauces. Definitely had to grab their sticky rice and Hmong pepper sauce an a side of their Mac a Cheese. Mac and cheese didn't have much flavor but if you add some salt to it, you good. Definitely will be back to try other items.

Everyone is always so friendly, the cuts are always so fresh, and you can't really go wrong! We love getting their picanha and Billy brats if we want to grill out but truly you can't go wrong with any of their meats. It's nice because there's also a small cafe inside so if you're super hungry, you can grab a sandwich and some fixings to hold you over if it's a trek to get back home like it is for us. We'll be going on hiking trip in a few days and actually stopped in to get a pound of their beef jerky which we'll vacuum seal and take with us to snack on. Super great Smokey flavor, perfect snack to nibble on, and keeps super well!

Chef Pedro took our order (bonus points) and we had a lovely conversation about New Orleans. The menu here has a lot of New Orleans food intertwined. Based on where Pedro previously worked in New Orleans, he has an outstanding culinary background. I was going to order the Muffaletta, which can be served hot or cold, but they were out. When I heard why, I was impressed. In New Orleans, the gold standard of bread is Leidenheimer. Minnesota doesn't have the same bread (Trung Nam Bakery is the closest substitute). Pedro uses Leidenheimer for his Muffalettas. Pedro also makes his own olive salad. I am looking forward to trying a Muffaletta. My husband ordered the Zambon Dip and really enjoyed it. I had the Herb Brooks Focaccia. It was great. Big portions. What is really funny is I knew the North Stars as I worked at the Met Center. Fun memorabilia too. On street parking and some tables outside. What we used to call a neighborhood joint. Stop in and say hi to Pedro. Now I just wish he would make Gumbo with some okra and filé.

Seems like a really busy takeout spot. Order: the North Star deluxe. Delicious. Their take on a Reuben without the kraut. All the meats were delicious and distinctive in flavor. The creole mayo added that nice creaminess. The homemade pickles on the side added that little vinegar punch to cut thru the richness of the sandwich. Smoked salmon BLT. Huge potion of perfectly smoked salmon. The smoke and crunch of the bacon was a perfect pairing. This is an amazing creative surf and turf. Overall: This is a must try on your Minnesota food tour.

Tables are small - really for two ppl and 3 max. But you can put some together if needed. Lots of to go orders on a Friday night. You order at the cashier, and they call your number when they take your order out. We got the King Rice Bowl, Chicken Shawarma, Gyro Cheese Fries and Gyro Plate. Portions are huge! The rice entrees are easily for 3 people. The wraps at least 2 hungry people. Orders take 15-20 minutes to prepare which they tell you up front. We got the Banana Pudding tres leches & Biscoff-Oreo tres leches to go. The base tres leches cake & cream frosting is really good. The banana pudding was ok but doesn't use real bananas. The strawberry one would probably be really good. We will be back!

The bad news is that it was too much filling for me to wrangle without rendering me unpresentable, but the good news is that it tasted GREAT. Super flavorful! Would definitely recommend. Came with fries and a drink for a very reasonable price, and those fries were delicious also; super crispy and flavorful with no need for dip. Lots of napkins needed for that wrap though. Looking around at what other people were eating has me convinced that they have a lot of good food. I saw someone eating one of the rice dishes that looked amazing, and the employee was excited to tell me all the other specialties that they are very proud of. They source a lot of their ingredients from Egypt, and they credit themselves with the creation of the Dubai Chocolate Milkshake which I regret not trying this time. You should come hungry because the portion sizes are ample and you'll want to consume them in their entirety.

It also came with perfectly done scrambled eggs and toast. You will probably really like the ambience. It appears to have been built out of a lovely Victorian home in Dayton's Bluff, and there is plenty of upstairs seating including cute tables on the landings. There is also a very green patio.
