Pooling water in light fixture over cash register and counter
    Margo T.

I have been going to hooks once a week faithfully for years and was surprised to see a whole different staff working. I paid no attention to that just waiting for the best chicken with extra lemon powder I have ever had to be done. I noticed the lights had water pooling in them as it was raining outside and there were small food buckets scattered on the floor. I sat on the purple bench and within seconds was dropped on consistently for the few moments I sat there. I moved to the booths and the same thing, the only dry place was inside of the door. Once I got my food and we left making it home we had the worst meal ever. The chicken was over fried, the fries were not good and there was barely any lemon seasons even though we had asked for extra seasoning before we left. We have vowed too not go back unless the previous owners and staff return.

My arteries started clogging while I waited in line. Don't let appearances, or location fool you. If you can stomach ultra greasy chicken and fried fish...this is your kind of place! Warning: the "Let Me See You Move Something" man from Blue Cross will pay you a visit shortly after devouring one of their meals. I've tried the Fried Chicken, the Perch, and the Fries. All were very tasty, and I had a very long nap after my meal. The price was reasonable too, and for about 25 bucks, 4 people were fed, and filled successfully. If you aren't one to buy into how the "North" is so "dangerous"....take a stroll off the beaten path to Hook Fish and Chicken...make sure to bring wet naps, Tums, and an empty belly to fill.

Great food. Prices high for a take out spot. Would recommend if you have the money to spend.

This place is a good cheap fast food fish joint and they actually are halal and have a prayer room so I'm very impressed.

The general manager even came over to personally greet each table. We really felt like esteemed guests while dining here. The meal comes with bread and butter and a pickle/olive plate - Nothing to write home about. I wish the bread had been a little bit more elevated maybe like a grilled focaccia with whipped ricotta. I had been eyeing the "Louie" crab cappellini. It came out piping hot and it was so buttery and full of goodness. I do wish there was a little bit more spice to the dish as the butteriness was quite overwhelming. The crab portion was very generous. The crab was 10/10 succulent, juicy, and sweet. The sushi roll was $26 but the portion was quite big and I had a nice lobster flavor. The Filet mignon was cooked to medium rare perfection, and had a nice crust. Overall, a great choice for a fancy meal for celebrating a special occasion. Beware of prices that do add up $75-100/person but the experience was well worth the trip.

And I was on board. We made reservations without another thought. I ended up googling the menu and realizing my partner was a little off on what type of cuisine this was and I was in unfamiliar territory though still excited to try. We loved every second of our experience here! The decor was amazing, the service was exceptional, the food was to die for. They had a special Valentine's Day menu which included beef Wellington for two, so we got that. Asked if it had sides and they said no. I asked if a veg was possible, expecting frozen, microwaved bland veggies. We got beautifully roasted, seasoned veggies that were amazing. Plus the beef Wellington was melting in our mouths. Cocktails were also exceptional. We had an espresso martini and old fashioned which came with a table side experience. We ended our adventure with the sticky toffee torte which was another exceptional dish. Our server was so kind and so so knowledgeable about every item and restaurant in the owners catalog. It's not that busy, maybe 10-20% full from 8:30 pm and beyond. Vibes = 2/10. What about the food? I've traveled all over the Mediterranean and Middle East. I'd give the Shashuka a 5-6 out of 10. It was supposed to be served with crepes and I had visions of Saluf and Sons Yemeni restaurant in Tel Aviv (now closed). Here it was served with a French bread / hot dog bun. Crepe???? I guess French bread and crepes are from the same country, but count me as unimpressed.

Our main dish was filet minon with creamed corn, au gratin potatoes and soy glazed brussels sprouts. The steak was cooked perfectly to our liking with a nice char. Our table also got lobster mac and cheese and wild mushrooms which were also very delicious! They are very generous with their sides, if you are dining with less than 3 people a half portion is more than enough. Lastly they brought out a nice Birthday platter with cheesecake, key lime pie, chocolate cake and a coconut cookie - all were delicious. I also was able to try my sisters crème brûlée and honestly i'd come back for that! Overall the service and ambiance is upscale, the servers were SO attentive to even the placing of the plates. Definitely recommend!
