What a terrific barbershop. This is my first time going into Fairmont, formerly known as Roosters. Liddy was my barber and did a spectacular job of cutting my hair followed by a super relaxing hot towel and hair wash, blow dry, and a little bit of goop to keep my hair looking fine. Ha ha. I was surprised it was only $30? I've paid $50 for the same thing other places. The rest of the barbers were fun and jovial, Liddy was fun to talk with and could not have done a better job. I've been coming to Roosters for almost my entire life Jayson is my go to guy I love his personality and his vibe. He gets me right every time with my haircut and it always comes out to perfection also the lady on the right is very good as well. He treats me as he would if I were family. Everyone there is very nice and always ask about the family. Overall a grate experience every time I walk in and would recommend to anyone needing a fresh and stylish cut. P.S. Gene at Rooster's Pasadena is probably the best barber I have ever had, and friends who I have taken there agree he provides a top quality service. He is dedicated to his profession and takes time to make sure your hair and beard are properly shaped and trimmed. The facility is clean and comfortable, with plenty of flat screen TVs showing various sports games. They also provide customers with a free beer on request. While they accept walk-in customers, its probably best to call ahead and make an appointment as they are usually pretty busy. In fact, on weekends walk-in customers sometimes have to wait several hours to be fit-in to a barber's schedule. The long waits for unscheduled customers I don't attribute to poor management -- as some other reviewers have stated -- but rather the dedication the barbers have to their customers...ie: they're not going to rush through a haircut to try to squeeze in as many people as possible. I work in Galveston and live in Clear Lake, so I kind of wish they had a couple nights a week with later hours (they close at 6pm), but aside from that, you can count on Rooster's barbers to give you 1st-rate service. read more

Terrible haircut, guy on the second chair on the left, short bald guy with a beard, sat me down asked "what do you want" I could already tel this guy had an attitude on him for some reason, I continue to tell him I want a mid fade and to leave the length and the top alone, so he starts fading and I feel the clippers going high and I tell him to leave the top alone, again 10 seconds later he tells me "he's blending". So I told him just stop and work only on the sides, he says "well you wanna look like a mushroom?" I said "all right man just shut up" I'm a marine and I know what a height and tight feels like, I asked this guy for a mid fade and walked out with a height and tight, keep in mind I have longish hair on top (within regulation). Terrible barber, terrible place, terrible guy, would not wish this barber on my enemy. Disputed the transaction, getting my money back. read more

After going to Supercuts and TGF Haircutters most of my life, I had a chance to go to Gentleman Joe's in Arizona a few months back and absolutely loved it (see review). So when it was time for me to get my hair cut, I decided to give Rooster's a try. I was sorely disappointed. Here is basically why: 1) One of the things that is nice about a real barber shop is the fact that all of the chairs are setup where you can talk with the other patrons about whatever topic is of interest - sports, politics, money, women, whatever. This place is the opposite of that in that there are partitions between each station so you cannot even see, much less talk to the other people in the shop. I'm not sure they quite understand the vibe that a men's barbershop is supposed to have. 2) Two of the staples of a men's grooming shop are a hot towel on the face and a good neck shave (which her majesty tells me is no longer optional) and I got neither. 3) Like a lot of men, when I get my hair cut, I get it cut pretty short. That means that combs are kind of useless for me but i do need a brush to at least get the remaining hair headed in the same direction. After the stylist finished, she offered me a comb and I asked her for a brush. She and other guy looked around the shop for almost 2 minutes trying to find one and could not. Really? How do you cut men's hair and not have a brush? 4) Men's barber shops should not have stylists. They should have barbers. 5) Men's barber shops should not have Madonna or any other teenie bopper music playing on the loud speakers. EVER. This one did. Loudly. 6) It was surprisingly expensive. With tip it was $28. That's way too much for a basic men's cut. 7) Did I mention that the haircut itself was not very good? My take is that this place is basically just Supercuts with wood panelling and pictures of ducks on the wall. I will not be back. Guess i will have to wait till i get back to Arizona on business to get my hair cut again. read more

I will be begrudgingly finding a different barber shop.The cuts and service at Rooster's have been good, but I'm not going to spend my money in at a place that disregards their appointment schedule, is disrespectful of a client's time, and offers zero apology of any sort for doing so. I had a 1pm appointment; but Katy, the barber/stylist I've been using for the past year or more, took a father-son walk-in at 12:55pm even though I arrived at 12:45pm for my 1pm appointment. After the son's cut and before the dad's, I even asked about the 1pm appointment. Katy said, "I can fit you in after this." I pointed out they were a walk-in 5 minutes before my appointment. She *could* have asked the dad to wait in order to get my appointment; it was only 1:10 at that point. That would have been appropriate. But instead, I waited still (*only* and I do mean *only* because I *really* needed my hair cut today - hence the appointment). Rooster's was completely disrespectful of their appointment book and client's time; if there had been ANY attempt at an apology of some sort... I think an offer of complimentary service (free beard trim/shape) was warranted given the additional 40 minute wait past my appointment time especially I had even pointed it out, but there was not even a verbal apology of any sort. That's all it would have taken to smooth things over for me. NOTHING. So, I left the tip appropriate for the situation and left. I will not be back. If you know a good place that will honor their appointment times -- or at least, will attempt to apologize or to make it up to you if they don't meet that commitment... I'm looking for a new place. read more

Yesterday, on Friday 10/2/20 - I came in for a haircut. (I've been coming here since 2013) Jason wasn't available - so I went with Angel Zamora. When I got my haircut - I placed my wallet, keys, and hat on the counter next to the mirror. (2) 100 dollar bills mysteriously came up missing out of my wallet. Their camera system is only focused on the Front & back doors, so they couldn't get him on camera. The only time it could've been taken was during the hot towel treatment, because my entire face was covered for an elongated period of time. Normally, they put the towel over the face & then after done move on to the next thing, but for some reason - he pushed my head back down & put a 2nd towel. I didn't think much of it at the time, but that stood out in my mind as being very odd. I'm usually a very good tipper, so it's a metaphorical slap in the face to have money stolen out of my wallet. I called up to the store & tried to just resolve the issue - I just wanted my money back. The owner of the place happened to be his mother. She met with me after the store closed & I could see in her eyes she knew I'm not lying. She gave me a 100 back, and told me that I can't ever come back there. I want my other hundred back, that was my rent money! This is not how you treat your customers that have been coming in for 7 years! I will no longer recommend this place to anyone. I literally have went out of my way for this place - to give amazing Google reviews & Facebook reviews in the past, and am VERY disappointed at the way this had to end. The owner DID say she is going to install a camera system that covers all the barber stations b/c of this issue. - But that doesn't fix the problem at hand. read more

Just got one of the worst haircuts of my life here. Guy cutting my hair didn't seem interested at all in cutting my hair, WHILE he was cutting it. He kept answering personal phone calls, walked away multiple times, and loudly shouted a conversation with his co-workers the whole time from across the room. To make the haircut even worse, he almost shaved my eyebrows off too. Without even asking, he shaved them so low it looks ridiculous then laughed and said "my bad". Finally, he told me at the end he "only took cash" and that if I didn't have it I would have to go to an ATM, then didn't give me a receipt. I've already filed a tax evasion tip for that, btw. Not only was the haircut beard trim and shave in point but he was also super friendly to my kids offering them a lollipop. I've been here a bunch of times and it's always been a mixed bag BECAUSE of one employee. Whatever you do, do NOT get a haircut from the second chair from the front (left side of the room) every time I go I pray I don't end up with him because he doesn't care about his job, he has given me sub-par haircuts in the past, but this last time I went he literally just buzzed through everything in like 5min super aggressively like he was in a bad mood. My haircut looks awful because he didn't even try. My fade I asked for is all choppy and I had to go to another haircut place to get it fixed properly because I didn't want to deal with this guy. I know this because he has actually done a semi.... semi good job in the past and I keep giving him chances, but this guy literally needs to be fired, the only complaints from this store are of him. I'm never coming back here to get my haircut again thanks to this guy. Great clips or sport clips are better. So freaking sad. read more

Stopped by for a haircut after work around 5:15 pm. They close at 6:00 pm so I was nervous about being rushed. After a short wait, Angel came and asked if I was ready. I showed him some pictures of a few styles I wanted. He asked a few follow up questions. Angel took his time and provided an excellent haircut. Excellent service for men who want great cuts. They don't rush your cut just to get to the next customer. They take their time. The employees there go out of their way to make your visit enjoyable. From offering a drink upon your arrival to placing a steamed towel on your face while having your hair washed. They offer shaving and other services as well. I highly recommend. I've been to Roosters locations in the Galleria and the south, and I didn't really feel like this was a Roosters after walking in. The staff is much more casual and my stylist had her headphones in and took phone calls while cutting my hair. I'm not that picky (I just go in to get some hair off my head), but I don't know how the staff would handle a complicated cut. My haircut was pretty decent, but I feel like I paid Roosters price for a sportsclips/super cuts style haircut. It felt like the ambiance here was different than a normal Roosters. I think if this place was cheaper I might come back, but for the Roosters price I'll be checking out the next nearest Roosters - even though it's double the distance. Looking for silver linings though, it was extremely easy to walk in without an appointment and jump in the chair - something that's much more difficult at other locations. read more

1st off the customer service was one of worst I've ever experienced. Came in as a walk in to try this place out. There were a few people in there but not many. When it came to my turn the barber told another guy he didn't want to take me for no reason what's so ever. This seemed like a thing cause I was passed on more then once. Finally after waiting a hour & half I complained. They finally see me only to get the worst hair cut of my life. I highly do not recommend this place. They seemed good to there regulars but treated new customers like crap. I've been to this place a number of times now, usually just to have my beard trimmed/styled, and a few times for haircuts. While this place isn't as cheap as many of the local barbershops, the service is outstanding, and I haven't had any complaints. If you go, I'd recommend booking an appointment with Angel; he's always done a great job with me. Speaking of which, this place can get busy on occasion, so it's always best to book an appointment just in case. Lastly, they do offer a military discount, for those military personnel/veterans who happen to be on a tight budget, but are looking for a great haircut and/or beard trim. read more

The first thing I told this IDIOT was "I do not want my hair thinned or trimmed. just trim around the ears and clean up the neck line.' And what was the first thing he did... pull out the clippers and begins to thin the sides! Once he started .... I was fucked! My husband has gone to them about 4 times now. Each time he has left without the haircut he asked for and today the haircut he received was actually pretty bad. He brought a picture to show the barber and he didn't get what he showed him. What he did hear was the sharp inhalation and muttered "yikes" when the barber cut his hair too short. After making an appointment for haircut, I sat for nearly an hour without being approached for a haircut. I was signed in, and watched person after person come in and be taken to the back for a haircut. I've taken my father who is in his 80's here a few times and we have always left feeling happy with the job Rooster's did. We are especially thankful with how we are treated every time we walk through the door. The men especially Jason and Angel have a deep respect for the elderly and go out of their way to accommodate us. Hats off to you two and to all others who run this business. This place is located on a strip. No parking but that's because of the many stores really no ones fault. Anyway I'm placing one star because it's not consistent with good stylists. Second time coming in here first time was great had a beard trim. Stylist placed a hot towel over my face and got the full deal. This last time I came in someone greeted me asked me what I needed and I told him a beard trim with the works all the person did was get the clippers and just did a half assed job I ended up paying $16 I was very disappointed because I could have done this myself at home not coming again. read more

I was disappointed with this shop and the barber who cut my hair. This experience is the reason I stopped going to the "stylists" and why my wife has been cutting my hair for nearly 20 years. After a wonderful experience at an old school shop on SoCo in Austin recently, I was anxious to find a shop here. I was referred to Roosters. When I got to the shop and sat for my hair cut I noticed the the shampoo sink and counter where my chair was at wasn't very clean. Then I told the barber what I wanted. The results were poor and in less than week I was in need of a trim. Mind you, I'm a bald guy with a fringe on the sides that still grows soI don't present much a task for the barber.
