Invoice and work "done".
Darline C.

Beware: Predatory Practices and Price Gouging! If I could give zero stars, I would. My elderly father, who is on a fixed Social Security income and doesn't speak English well, needed his 1,000-gallon septic tank pumped. A friend recommended Rooter Plus, but this turned out to be a horrible mistake. Instead of a standard service, they upsold him on everything possible, tacking on unnecessary charges and pressuring him into signing for work he didn't fully understand. The final bill? Over $3,000! This is complete price gouging. When my father called me, I immediately contacted the company to demand an explanation and a copy of the invoice. What I saw was outrageous--a blatant attempt to take advantage of a senior citizen. My husband, a licensed general contractor, was appalled. A quick Google search showed that this isn't an isolated incident. Rooter Plus has a history of overcharging and misleading customers, especially the elderly. This kind of unethical business practice needs to stop! I will be filing a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau and urging others to avoid this company at all costs. Protect your loved ones from being scammed like this! Do your research and go with a reputable company.

pumping about 1/2 done on the inlet side, pipe still full. refused to poke a stick through the top of the pipe to unclog the main house

So the day after thanksgiving, I had 2 of my toilets not flushing, I tried plunging and snaking them, with no success, I went in my back yard and removed the clean out valve cap, and water over flowed (not supposed to do that) so I called RooterPLUS to come pump my tank. I was quoted on the phone $150 for a pump up to 1000 gallons. (I have a 1000-gallon septic tank), The two men arrived actually early, and I showed them where my tank was, it was only buried between 4-6 inch deep. They dug up the soil around the both the inlet and outlet lids, and removed the lids... There was about 20 inches of slime on top, measured just with a shovel, and I was told that was excess sludge. I disagreed... Then they quoted me, $525 for pumping, $400 for main house drain line cleaning, and then $3000 for cleaning drain field lines and treating them for blockage, and guaranteed the work for 1 year. I was giggling because I had read the reviews about how they bait and trap you into expensive unnecessary repairs. I said no thanks, that I just wanted the 1000-gallons of slime and waste water removed for the $150 I was quoted. The guy (Dillon) giggled back at me and said that was not a quote, but that he could not do that due to the amount of crust on the top of the tank, and that just for a pump it would $525 and the main line cleaning would be an additional $400. So more the 6X more what was advertised and promised.. I asked just for pumping with no main line clean out, and he stated again that it would $525 due to excessive crust on top of the tank. He never measured it, just used a shovel to estimate. I almost said no thanks, and sent them away. But I need the tank pumped, so against my better judgement I agreed. They 2 men started pumping away. as they got about 1/2 was down I saw the bottom of the main drain inlet and saw that it was still backed up, I asked if it was supposed to do that retain water, or flow out of the bottom, and he stated that it was supposed to flow freely, so I knew right then and there I had a clog in the main drain line from the house to the tank. I asked if he was at least going to try to push through it, and he said that I didn't pay for it, and he didn't own the company and wasn't allowed to do that.... so, I went and grabbed my large pry bar, and easily poked through the clog and let alone all of the water started flowing as it should be as if it were working normally. He really wanted $400 additional to poke a stick through about 1-2 inches of crust. So after they were done pumping, and cleaning up, using my house water hose (I gave permission) he said the bill was $525. I again disagreed with the charge since all they did was pump about 1000 gallons out of the tank. He stated no, the charge was $525 due to the amount of sludge and slime. I paid them, and they left... As I reviewed the receipt they emailed me, it was nothing of what actually happened. Task # A7802 Additional 500 gallon for $100 T7800 pump up to 1000 gallons for $150 T5462 Excessive solids for $275 Teh task#7802 was complete BS... The ripped me off of a $100.... So the reviews are true, the $150 scam sales pitch is BS, and after reading the receipt, they threw on a task code to over charge me. I should have only paid $475

Long story short, I thought I had diagnosed the problem to something far more severe than the true problem at hand (me). Good old boys could've taken me to the cleaner because I was setting myself up but they were honest and I'm very happy to pay them my money. Integrity is everything. Anyways, don't hope to have another plumbing problem but if I do I know exactly who I'm calling.

NOTE: This is my second attempt to post a review for this company. The company removed my first…read morereview, after disagreeing with what I wrote. I don't write salacious or slanderous reviews on here. I'm not an angry, misunderstood, conflicted teenager with a score to settle. I'm 56 years old, and I try to write clearly and objectively. On Monday April 15 two plumbers from GOBP showed up on time to repair the main water line next to our meter. When they arrived they estimated $900-1100 for the repair, which seemed high but, as they stated, this was an estimate which, I assumed, could go up or down if the job requires more or less time or materials. The two plumbers started to work immediately. One plumber dug out a 1x2x1' section of soil, then the other installed a couple feet of blue PEX hose and a shutoff valve. The first plumber replaced the soil and sod and the job was finished in one hour. So, two plumbers, together working one hour, with about $50 in parts. For that they charged $960. They lowered the price to $900, after l pointed out it was a one hour repair. I noted out that each plumber was charging me more than $400 an hour for their labor, which is more than doctors, engineers, lawyers and other professionals make. They replied, "we charge by the job, not by the hour." But the quote for the job was just that--a quote, an estimate! They wouldn't budge. I paid, wrote a review here that night and thought I was done with them. Four days later, on Friday evening, I got a call from "Chris" who wanted to discuss my review. Chris tried to convince me that they were fair, that I got a good deal, but that inflation has just been "really hard" on everyone. I disagreed. The plumbers showed up, priced the job high and showed little flexibility to adjust the price when the work was less than estimated. If they need to estimate high to cover their tails, fine, but don't use as an excuse to gouge me. Chris then tried to say it was my fault that they overcharged, because I didn't ask them up front how long it would take, or try to negotiate a lower price. Then he explained that his company loses money on other jobs...and I inferred from this that he is somehow justified in overcharging other customers like me, because he has to make up that money someplace. I agreed to modify my original review, to state that the plumbers did give me an estimate at the start of work (according to Chris I should have included that in my review, and that I didn't try to negotiate the estimate before they started work. Think about how ridiculous that sounds: "give me a lower estimate, please.". The morning after we spoke, I looked for my review on here to make the changes I promised, and it was gone.

TLDR: I would not hire this company. Not only am I very disappointed with the diagnosis process and…read morethe repair that did not address the issue that I called them for but also with the failure of their management to address my concerns. I called Plumbing Express to investigate and resolve a water leak in my kitchen ceiling. The leak was directly below my master bathroom toilet, which my sister and I had already narrowed down by tapping on the kitchen ceiling downstairs while listening upstairs, where the sound was clearly strongest near the master bathroom toilet. The technician briefly inspected both bathrooms but focused on my sister's bathroom on the opposite side of the house after noticing a damp sponge under the toilet tank. My sister explained the sponge was there because she sprays and cleans the toilet regularly, not because of a leak. The plumber then cut open the kitchen ceiling drywall, stated the leak was coming from the water supply line from my sister's toilet, and performed a complete toilet tank rebuild for $450. After the repair, he gave me a card for a company that performs restorations and recommended I call them to inspect for subfloor damage. When that restoration company arrived, they immediately stated there was no way the ceiling leak could have originated from the secondary bathroom because of the location and no evidence of water stains. They recommended another plumber and a leak detection company come out to find the leak before they performed any work. I contacted a second plumber, who agreed the leak was much more likely connected to the master bathroom toilet directly above the leak area. Finally, I hired a leak detection company, and they also confirmed the leak aligned with the master bathroom location, not the secondary bathroom Plumbing Express repaired. At this point, three separate professionals have stated the leak could not have originated from the bathroom Plumbing Express serviced. I paid $450 for a repair that did not address the actual problem I originally called about. In Response to Ty G: Your response is totally incorrect. I would not have called the second plumber and the leak detection company if your recommended restoration company had not told me that the leak was not identified. The pictures taken are of the secondary bathroom not the master as we discussed in our phone call. It is totally "disingenuous" for you to now state that the master toilet was the issue. This validates everything I thought about your company. Others beware!

The only thing I did not like was that I was told my main line cut off was leaking but was not shown the leak. I was put on the spot and decided to have them replace it anyhow. I think it is important that a first time customer should be shown the problem before asking a part be replaced. Also, I am sure this is an industry standard but $370 with about $100 worth of parts (at most) for 30 minutes is outlandish. When will the customer get a break for technology advancement? Because of new fittings and clamps, there was no sweating or soldering saving the plumber a lot of time and hassles....not passed on to the customer. If there was a savings passed on, I would have rated them a five star.

I genuinely enjoyed and appreciated his support throughout the entire process. I originally contacted another company with higher online ratings, but they couldn't get anyone out the same day. I decided to give Plumb Doc a shot despite their slightly lower rating--and I'm really glad I did. The service I received was absolutely 5-star level. Brian came out quickly and accurately diagnosed the issue: a pin-sized hole in one of the PVC pipes underground in our front yard that feeds the house. We had noticed water running down the driveway and weren't sure if it was just runoff from recent rain or a broken pipe, especially since temperatures had been below freezing. Brian confirmed it was a leak by shutting off the water to the house and checking the meter--we were still using water. From there, Brian walked me through multiple options, ranging from a full pipe replacement to a targeted repair. I was dealing with family health issues at the time and needed the fastest, least disruptive solution so I could focus on being at the hospital. Brian really stepped up. He suggested bringing in a leak-detection specialist using sonar equipment to pinpoint the exact location. It added a few hundred dollars upfront but would save time, money, and yard damage in the long run. We went with that option, and it worked exactly as promised. That evening, a gas technician came out to mark the gas lines, the leak-detection team arrived the next morning, and Brian dug a very small area and replaced the damaged pipe on day two. He even worked past dark to finish the job. Plumb Doc handled everything--all scheduling, coordination, and follow-through. Brian personally made sure every vendor piece was handled correctly. A few days later, after the clay had settled, Brian came back to fill in the hole--even though we had already paid. He even offered to buy a bag of mulch to cover the area, which we declined since we planned to re-mulch anyway. The leak is fully fixed, no more water loss, and the price was completely reasonable. Throughout the process, Brian kept me informed via text, sent photos, and made sure I always knew what was happening. Beyond the technical skill, he's just a genuinely good guy--someone you'd grab a beer with. Too often, you talk to a company owner and then get sent a low-quality crew. That did not happen here. I couldn't be happier with the service and would absolutely recommend Plumb Doc to friends and family. A lot of people give 5 stars for just expected service, so I want to make it clear that this job exceeded my expectations and truly earned their 5 stars.
