So when I needed to get a haircut for some occasion I tried 40 One East Salon & Spa. This was a good four or five years ago and I've been going there exclusively ever since. I was there today, every stylist I've had has always listened to what I wanted done...or maybe more important what I didn't want done. When I sat down she asked what we were doing today, the first thing out of my mouth is that I didn't want to look like my father. And she understood. I kid with them that they'll never get rich off of me, I only get my hair cut twice a year. But you know, I'm always made to feel welcome and that they are happy to see me. I still hate getting my hair cut but I certainly don't mind visiting 40 One Salon!

There's nobody on either side of you which makes for an enjoyably serene experience. Jill cut, colored and blew out my very thick hair. It's not easy to manage my mop but she figured out how to do it plus the coloring job was absolutely terrific. I will definitely go back. In fact, had it not been for their Groupon Promotion I may not have gone there at all. But now I'm happy and I look 10 years younger than when I walked into those purple doors. After my soon to be SIL recently had a hair trial where I was told that the trial is included with the $200 cost of wedding day hair and makeup, she decided she was not comfortable wearing that much makeup or getting her hair done. She was uncomfortable sitting in the chair and being attended to. This was no fault to the stylist who did an amazing job, but just a personal reaction to be touched and made up. The owner has refused to refund the $200 paid up front and is now saying that the total cost was $200 trial and $200 day of. I had my hair and makeup done for my wedding and this was absolutely not the case at that time. I have never been so offended. Additionally, the tone she took was abrupt and rude. I will no longee recommend this business to anyone and will not be returning. I tried to reason with her. I tried to explain that I was a long time client. None of that mattered. I'm heartbroken. I never write reviews but this one had to be done.
