Sorry! I neglected to write down a review weeks prior, so I am on it right now…read more (three weeks earlier, on a Monday and to the best of my knowledge) I went down to Handlebar's to get a buzz cut! My usual barber Astrit was on vacation at the time so the folks recommended me a barber whose name I could not remember except that he shared Astrit's heritage. I was given espresso and biscuits and the barber went down to work. As we converse, he also worked on the shape up, never forgetting to take out the mirror for me to see the results. What sets it apart from most barbershops in White Plains, which were mostly urban and working class, is the setting with a brick wall facing the barber chairs and mostly catering to a middle class clientele, but there is no competition whatsoever between the shop and others as far as I know. Sometimes, I just need to get pampered for lack of a better word. One of these days, a shave would be nice, but I am in no rush at the moment!

Great experience, I was greeted with an offer for an espresso and my appointment started on time…read more The shampoo person was professional and pleasant. My barber was Astrit and he was great. He asked what I wanted, listened and made some recommendations, most of which I took. First a great haircut, then the shave. Hot towel, hot foam, straight edge, an amazing pampering. I'd highly recommend Astrit This was my first visit, I was looking for someplace that would be great with a beard and even though this was much more expensive than I was used to I gave it a shot.

Not sure how there are so many poor reviews…read more I've been a long time customer of the fountain spa and always had a great experience from facials and massages I've always left happy. Yes they are a bit high in price but you cannot beat the services and amenities they provide. I always enjoy their steam room before my services as it is one of the best in the area and does wonders for your skin. I was just in for a deep tissue massage and I was so happy by the time I left. My body felt rejuvenated and beat up in the best way. My masseuse Donna did an amazing job on getting my back knots and shoulder problem areas which most people really struggle to get out. I feel fantastic and relaxed. After my massage she brought me upstairs to the tranquility room where there is an array of healthy snacks to enjoy and plenty of beverages to make. I enjoyed the tea and water and relaxed a bit before heading down to the showers to rinse off my oil and go home. Always a pleasant experience and any time I've been here and had a complaint or issue I brought it directly to the front desk and it was immediately take care of.

My appointment was with Juliet and I thought she did a great job. She explained everything she was doing and the whole experience was perfect. I really loved my facial and my face felt great. Both my sister in laws loved there facials as well. We all agreed it was a very nice experience. My only complaint is the place could be updated. It's stuck in the 80s. I think it could be easily refurbished and made to look more comfortable. Other than that I would go back for another trearment,

I was really excited to visit King Spa in Palisades Park while I was in the tri-state area. I had…read morebeen to the King Spa in Niles, IL several times and absolutely loved it, so I was expecting a similar relaxing experience. Unfortunately, I left feeling completely disappointed and more stressed than relaxed. I went on a Monday morning hoping to avoid crowds and have a peaceful day. Things started off on the wrong foot almost immediately. While I was simply checking the size of the uniform, holding it up to see if there was a difference in the width, an employee came over and snatched the second pair out of my hand as if I was trying to take something I shouldn't have. It was not a great way to start when I had barely gotten in the door. Next, the layout was also really confusing. The spa is spread across multiple floors with different sections and stairways, but no one explained where anything was or how to navigate the space. I spent a lot of time in the morning trying to figure out where I was and it felt like I was nosing around someone else's house: uncomfortable. The biggest issue, though, was communication. A woman in the locker room offered my niece and me a deal for two massages for $140 ($70 each) and asked me to send the money through Zelle. I sent $170, including what I thought was a generous tip of over 20%. She arranged the appointment, but I didn't confirm what type of massage I wanted. I foolishly assumed they would ask before starting. We had lunch beforehand - the food was delicious and the portion was huge. Unfortunately, they don't offer to-go boxes, so I needed to reschedule our massages in order to finish my meal. Before even finishing my meal, I went to the massage counter to see if we reschedule our appointments. A younger patron helped translate at the massage desk, but she needed my time slot and took it for herself. She told me the woman would help me reschedule and then left. When I tried to figure out my new time, the interaction felt rushed and dismissive. I was given time without being asked if it worked for me, and when I asked about other options, I was told there were none. I would have cancelled but had already paid, so I took the L. When it was finally time for the massage, we were taken back without anyone asking what type of massage we wanted. I realized my mistake because it was a much more intense massage style and is not my preference. At that point though, after so many rushed and uncomfortable interactions, I honestly didn't feel comfortable advocating for myself to tell them I wanted reflexology. The final issue happened while I was changing before leaving. The same woman who arranged the massage came over and told me I hadn't paid enough tip. I was confused because... it was a tip. She told me I owed another $20 and (to add insult to injury) that I couldn't get my license back from the front desk until I paid. That brought the tip to over 35% on a service I didn't choose and didn't enjoy. I came to King Spa looking for rest and relaxation, but instead left feeling like I had spent my hard-earned money somewhere that never quite felt comfortable and certainly not welcomed.
