Quiet rooms where you can just rest your body. Plenty of places to sit and read, talk with people, play games, watch TV, or sleep. Place is clean and Easy parking as they have their own parking lot. So, I grew up in sauna. I've been to plenty of Russian, Finnish, Korean and Hammam type saunas. I've been to Sojo and Spa Castle ansd World Spa. I love to spend an off day enjoying some healthy food and contrast bathing. KIng Spa was definitely a uniquely Korean experience. The overall vibe is a little old school and dusty, lots of 80s looking water features with piped in birdsong. The locker rooms need an update and the gendered pool area is quite small. I would imagine if you were a gender non-conforming person this kind of place would be highly stressful. There were dirty Q-tips just tossed in a box on the counter with wax on them, there were communal combs (gross), and a lot of the areas for lounging had very beat up looking furniture. There were several ladies really pushing hip baths, it had sort of a hectic, hustle-culture vibe upon entering that was not really relaxing. However the overall vibe is cozy and the saunas themselves were the real deal, especially the ultra hot one in the basement. The food was EXCELLENT especially compared to Sojo. Real deal Korean offerings, beverages and unique snacks like sauna eggs and plenty of ice cream. I would suggest to go early and eat lunch there, then spend the rest of the afternoon snoozing, baking in the sauna or getting a chair massage. They also have a salon their that offers perms and nail service, can't speak on that but fun that it's offered. There are plenty if chess tables and places to read and scroll if that is your spa style. My main big complaint: I booked a 30 minute scrub when I entered. I soaked before the scrub as instructed, when the scrub lady came to fetch me she was rude and dismissive from start to finish. I am not talking about the usual straightforward Korean spa attitude-she was downright nasty to me. She barked orders, yelled at me for having dyed hair that bled a little onto the wet towel pillow I had to use, she pinched my skin, rolled her eyes and sucked her teeth when I asked her to repeat herself. I understand there are some different cultural expectations but I have never been so poorly treated by a spa employee before. OMG, I went there in the winter and it didn't disappoint. Main floor has lots of Sauna rooms. They go from cold to very Hot, I do not remember the temperature numbers. Each one of them has a purpose that fits with your needs and body structure. For me the hottest one works the best. As I sweated a lot and stayed stagnant my body started to relax and get to the point that I couldn't get up. Too bad it got too hot that I needed to get out when its about 10 mins or I'd die... Please remember for hot sauna you are allowed to stay up to 12 mins and MUST take a rest in room temperature for at least 10 mins. Else you might suffer... There are sections that you can just relax, sit and chat, watch TV, stretching section, or a sleeping section. The experience in the main locker room is like going to the gym, there are people walking in nude to change and to go to the hot tubs and shower. Should be a normal experience after you have been to college gym, changing room of swimming pool, or even a normal gym. After the whole experience of 4+ hrs in this place my whole body was so relaxed that I couldn't move when I was leaving. My body was so weak and flimsy after the whole experience as if I went through a "Happy Ending"... Very well recommended if you want to have a "Happy Ending"... Affordable and alternative spot to sojo. You can definitely get a discounted ticket from Groupon. This place can get packed but I still enjoyed it. There are a variety of different sauna rooms some smaller than the others, rest areas and an area to play chess and go. What I love about this place is the 400 degree sauna that really cooks you. We stayed here for about 5 hours and went to all their saunas, we ended up getting a little hungry and ordered a meal to share plus a large bingsoo which was really refreshing and cooling to your body. I have been coming to King Spa and Sauna for years. It's always such a relaxing place where I literally end up spending the entire day. Any services with food purchases can add up. Find Groupon where the admission is discounted. Note: for services, the tips are included. And they exceed 20% which is kind of shitty IMO because then there is really no incentive to go "above and beyond" but it is what it is. There are water dispensers throughout the facility so that's always nice to have. The place (by my standards and since I've been coming for so many years) has declined a bit but it's still properly maintained and has more good than bad. One of the showers didn't work, one of the shower hose holder was also broken and some areas appear a bit more worn out than others. The food is a nice touch too, but they used to give so many more side dishes in the past (you now get only 3). The workers are nice enough and polite but they are stingy with time and never go over a minute more than the allotted time for any service - MAYBE the hip bath but I think those ladies work independently of the spa itself because I paid them directly (I've had deep scrubs and massages and those are tallied up at the end upon checking out). The place is also clean - yes, you walk around barefoot once in the wet area but I've seen the staff actively clean and scrub the floors mats and floors. The steam room in the wet area is great to open up your the pores before a scrub. There are 4 main whirlpools/baths/hot tubs - one cold, one warm and one hot. And one super cold, with an over the head jet coming down. My gripe can be with the fact that it does get packed on the weekends, so be mindful of that and the hours you come (usually the earlier, the better). People also need to have proper etiquette and follow instructions upon entering - there are plastic bags upon entering the locker room where you take your outside shoes off immediately and put them in the plastic bags upon entering, WELL BEFORE the area where people are walking sound barefoot. Once inside, you need to SHOWER FIRST. I saw a lady walk straight into one of the hot tubs. WHYYYY. there are signs EVERYWHERE telling you what to do and what not to do. Also, from the steam room - rinse off first, ladies, before going back in the pools. It really isn't that hard and the staff does try to enforce these rules as well. Once upstairs, I adore and live for their saunas and relaxation rooms. I also get my ass handed to me by my friend in checkers too (they have chess and checkers games.) There are plants and little water fountains/creeks that are dispersed throughout, which are also such a beautiful and nice touch. I'll never turn down a day at King Spa. 10/10 recommend + the body scrub too. read more

Dang, these women who close to retirement age than not, scrub you from head to toe and you come out feeling butta! All the dead skin is scrubbed away and you feel 20lbs lighter instantly. WARNING! This is a FULL birthday suit, all nude, in a women's only spa area experience. If you are self conscious about your body, again your choice, this is NOT the experience for you! The gender separated areas feature hot tubs, showers, saunas, and steam rooms. One thing to note is that these areas are typically nude so note that before going in. The co-ed space is a nice large area with three different floors that showcase napping areas, social talking areas, board games, and saunas. The saunas are certainly the star of the show. There are different rooms that have different defining features (i.e. salt rooms, clay rooms, hot rooms, cold rooms). They do get a little packed so expect that there won't be much space if you go on a busy day (like holidays). The restaurant is decent - has general Korean food but is extremely pricey. The wet area isn't very spacious but the common area has so many hot rooms of various heat, aromas, and ambience. The cafeteria inside is decent, pretty tasty and not too pricey. You receive a uniform and two towels upon entering the locker room. You get a locker and keys. I went to eat first and had spicy veggies tofu soup. I forgot the exact name. I brought my water bottle to fill up my water. There are several saunas to experience, ice room, beauty salon, juice bar, quiet area, chess room, and the list goes on. As you are checking in, you secure your time for the Korean Body Scrub. Once it was close to my time, I asked the lady sitting at the desk (near the lockers) and she directed me to where I needed to go. The Korean Body Scrub Basic is a 30 minute body scrub with a "Korean Italy Towel." It removes dead skin cells and buildup you might have. It actually wasn't as relaxing as I expected but definitely a great way to exfoliate. My skin felt much smoother & cleaner after. Not bad but also I expected more out of the price they set up? The original price is around $70-$80, but you can get a groupon for $50. So came here yesterday for New Years. I understand it's packed, but this review is about the amenities they provide. First, it's a building complex with different floors of things. It's also cluttered with things. It can get pretty confusing and you can get lost inside. But anyways, first the wet spa floor. It's pretty small and packed. So you can just imagine the bodies inside that small pool. A little gross tbh, so I just leave right away. The dry sauna is also small, while they close the wet sauna in certain times to avoid some public indecencies. Next is the amenities: they have different, variety of rooms that have different relaxation themes: forest, gold-themed, chamber whatever you name it. Try those out. The ice room is tad small though. They have restaurant inside but so overpriced! I didn't order cause it's too much. Also they don't provide free toothbrushes and shavers. It's $1 which is outrageous considering the price you pay to go in. It should be free. The towels though, are unlimited. Overall, it's the nearest spa in my place which is close to Washington Heights. But yeah, the spas in California are more elite than here in East Coast. read more

Came here on Valentine's day which fell on a Friday and it was packed. Used a Groupon deal, easy to check-in. Remember to bring your ID! During check-in, they keep your ID bcus they give you a locker key wristlet. So when you check out, you give them back the locker key wristlet and they'll give you back your ID. I forgot my wallet, so they accepted my bf's credit card instead. Place has several floors and has lots of signs. Needs some getting used to to navigate. They have lots of sauna rooms, but only a few ppl can enter at a time (most just 4ppl). So if it's full, you need to wait until someone comes out so you can go in. But thankfully most ppl don't stay inside the sauna any longer than 15-20min. If they're weak sauce, then they'll leave within 5-10min haha. The hottest sauna room (located across from the ice room) has more space and can fit more than 15ppl. Apparently, they bake their eggs in this room overnight. It's THAT hot (I think 200+°F). They also provide a mat to sit on so you don't burn your butt on the floor. It's a bit tough to breathe in there so PRO TIP-- it helps to tie a small towel around your mouth. Food was expensive but tasty. Furniture and decor was a bit old and tacky, but didn't bother me too much. I was just there to relax and have a fun time with my bf and it did the job. read more

Perfect place to relax. Some parts are a bit dingey but overall nice. I like that in addition to the multiple saunas that there's rest areas where it isn't as hot. There's an extra hot sauna where temperatures can reach over 250 degrees F, basically an oven. My partner and I just wanted to try it, the lady managing the area meant well but it was a bit off-putting that she was basically scolding at us when we both felt fine afterwards. I know she was concerned since it was our first time but we followed the instructions and didn't stay long. Food is better than other spas like Sojo, a bit pricey but authentic. I love Korean Spas. It's one of my favorite ways of relaxing. I got off of a red-eye flight and went immediately there. I think this King Spa is not a part of the chains around the country, but it is very nice. The shower/sauna/jacuzzi areas are very nice and clean. The dry saunas in the main area are great. I took a nap for a couple of hours on a very comfortable recliner. They do have a juice bar and restaurant that has many options and was tasty. This spa and sauna is huge and richest in culture. Every spa/sauna piece has signage to educate the benefits & history. Rooms include mineral, to salt, to herbal, to gold, to mixed benefit, extreme hot, and also cold room. There is something for everyone. Also hot, extremely hot, and 2 cold tubs. I hope the have lemon mineral bath in one of the hot tubs someday. Basic Amenities are covered, including free clothing rental, towel, wash rag, and shoes not allowed. Face mask is for sale but I prefer to bring my own Price of food is delicious, healthy, balanced &affordable. I always leave here feeling light and refreshed. 3 stars Ok, so the place is pretty big. Everybody will be completely naked in the same gender only locker room/shower/jacuzzi/steam room. My main gripe is that almost everyone is barefoot in the showers/ saunas/common areas/ everywhere and thats a recipe for contagious fungal infections/ plantar warts. I dont really know if ppl can wear their own slippers in the locker room but i didnt bring a pair (Coming to King Spa was a last minute plan when i was already out of the house) so i didnt bother asking. However, ive seen some people wear socks in the common areas (saunas/restaurants) so remember to bring an extra pair of socks. Additionally, id also recommend bringing another pair of footwear just for the lockerroom area/showers. Also, people are walking into the bathrooms barefoot and then walking back out to the common rooms, so yeah, thats also transferring fecal bacteria. I also dont like that each person is only allowed 1 body towel to use for the whole duration of stay and would need to pay $2 to use a new one. I did the korean body scrub and i dont know how clean that is either. The ice room smelled a bit funny. Saunas were a bit on the small side. Most of them can fit either 4-8 people. The food at the restaurant was a bit overpriced but tasted decent. In general, the place is pretty old compared to Sojo spa. read more

It's multi floor and could be confusing at first but they have a picture of the layout. I haven't used the pools yet but the room looks super clean. Dressing rooms are kept tidy. Came here on Friday noon and pretty surprised to see that the place is packed on weekday. Took sometime to get admitted as there's only 2 person to admit and check out customers. Got admission ticket on Groupon which is a good deal. There are plenty of sauna places split across different levels so be sure to look around. 2nd floor seemed to be more packed than other floors. Went to the hottest sauna at 200 degree twice. The first time there's a long line so it was limited for 10min. When there's not much people waiting, we can stay as much as we can. After visiting this, all other places seemed to be nothing. Overall good experience. Food and drink is pricey though. read more

My boyfriend and I went here for Valentine's Day this past February, looking for a relaxing experience to enjoy our day. Our experience started out with us having to wait in a long line just to check-in, which stretched outside of the door of the spa. Once we got in, we both went to our separate gender specific locker rooms, and changed into our spa uniforms (oversized shirt and shorts). I skipped the optional nude area, where individuals could wash up in the bathhouse. My boyfriend did not skip out on this part, and said he enjoyed the experience of freshening up and felt very clean afterwards. Once we met up in the common area (where both women and men could interact and experience the spa together) there were a variety of dry saunas available for us to try out. Each one had specific/different healing properties included in each one. This was my first time trying a Korean spa, so I wasn't sure if I would like the experience of going through multiple dry sauna sessions, but it was actually quite relaxing! However, on the day we went, it was EXTREMELY busy. I tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt as it was Valentine's Day, but I was under the impression that there were a limited amount of admission tickets sold for each day, but this was definitely not the case. My boyfriend and I had to circle the sauna rooms several times, waiting for the rooms to become freed up (as they were all very small saunas, each could hold about 7-9 people max). I would say there were definitely more than 80 people in the spa at the same time I was there. As time passed, it got more and more difficult for us to find a spot to relax in, counter intuitive to the purpose of us visiting, as it became very stressful. When we were getting ready to leave the spa for the day, walking to our individual gender separated locker rooms, a disgusting event took place. We had noticed someone recently defecated in the middle of the floor of the common area, and there was no sign in sight to prevent someone from stepping on the feces or the surrounding area. I immediately became very stressed, as I had been walking around barefoot in that common space the entire time we were there (individuals can be barefoot or wear socks, I regretted my choice of being barefoot)! Not to mention, someone ended up stepping in the human feces, as while we were trying to speed out of the spa, someone slipped on it as they were walking out with no staff members around to help them! That whole ordeal reversed all of the progress I made throughout the day to be stress-free, and I was more alert and on-edge than ever as I left the spa. With that being said, if it wasn't for that last stressful event, I would have felt relaxed from our day spa experience. I am a person that tends to get overstimulated easily, but the relaxing sounds and sauna sessions helped minimize such feelings. I do think it was pretty shocking how there was no sign put up to block people from walking in/on the area of the feces. Throughout the day, I rarely saw any staff members around monitoring the area for individuals that were confused on where to go or what certain areas were for, so unfortunately, I'm not very surprised about the area not being closed off with any sort of warning signage. read more

Before I write my review I hope King Spa reads this & makes signage with drawings on them so the nice ajumma's don't have to repeat themselves every other minute (overwork) to those not familiar with Korean Spa culture. Specifically: Drawing of a Woman with hair tied up outside the Wet Sauna & Pools (& maybe a few cute examples of what you can do with the thin plaid towels around your head) & Drawing in front of the Jjimjilbang (700° F dry sauna) of a covered face with plaid towel & 1 large mat around shoulders & 1 large mat around legs/under feet. Someone recommended King Spa to me instead of going back to the other "Castle" and I've already been back to NJ in a few months! (Their extra free pass helps) It's pretty convenient to Manhattan, the free shuttle is a 25 minute ride or NJ Transit bus about a 45min ride & 15min walk. I've only been on a weekday and it's moderately busy (& gets busier after 5pm)- I can't imagine what chaos it must be like on a weekend. King Spa feels very homey and like a Disneyland of rest & relaxation to explore endlessly. So unassuming from the outside as the Paige building in the somewhat the area, but with the newish coffee shop across the street and a 10 minute walk through suburbs to the main street/hub of the town. When you just literally swipe your bracelet to pay for anything & have cubby holes assigned to you for storage, there's not much to worry about except being on time for your Korean body scrub, massage or nail appointments! There's 3 floors, 2 dining areas, different dry saunas, gendered (nude) wet saunas & plunge pools, an aromatherapy/healing room, a room for Women's V steam therapy for horomones, LED therapy room, amethyst, and charcoal bundles everywhere, loungers, and wide chairs to fall asleep on. I like ending in the ice sauna with a sheet face mask to tighten pores. Hilights include free plastic bags for shoes at the entrance of the Locker room, UV oven for their haircombs, QTips, Suave lotion to use), Phone charging cubbies & filtered water fountains all around, the dry sauna filled with hanging bags of restorative oak was very cool. The Staff is very nice, although I'm sure they're tired of the new wave of interest in Korean Spas/Culture. Highly recommend their massages if you're prone to knots & need deep bodywork. Seems like a combination of pushing on your channels & stretching, a little like Thai Massage. King Spa runs a lot of online specials and it's worth purchasing ahead of time + a free visit pass. During my last visit (a Monday) their shuttle couldn't fit everyone & groups found other options. It's about $60-70 by Uber from KTown. Overheard that they're working with a new shuttle company, the schedule changes seasonally and it doesn't run as often. The high top black van is very nice and clean, I wouldn't say that driving is speed limit conscious but they get there fast. The food is a bit overpriced, but maybe by a few dollars compared to other large Korean restaurants, and here there isn't tipping. Korean food always seems so labor-intensive. I was happily satisfied with the quality of the food & the portions are huge. I've had the $18 Spicy Beef Noodle Soup (lots of burdock root, clear thick potato starch vermicelli). $19 Seaweed Beef broth Soup (with rice) - known as the healing soup for new mothers and as the "birthday soup." Not sure why it's not on their menu anymore but they still have it, if you ask. $10 Sikhye, a rice, fermented malt drink. Sweet & super slushie- great to cool down with. I want to try their Ginger tea goji berry Drink next time. SNACKS! Get these $15 Bing Soo: the lightest finest shaved ice ever! topped with fruit and condensed milk, red bean paste hidden on the bottom. It's a large portion, but I actually finished all of it. Didn't feel gross like with ice cream. They also have a plethora of ice cream bars, next time I'll have to try it. $4 Sauna Eggs: didn't know what the big deal about these were (all the Korean spa-ers were eating them). With a bit of Google, realized that they bake these eggs in the 700 F sauna when not in use. The eggs turn a light brown, with a nutty toasty flavor. They're really good, doesn't need any salt, pepper - probably not the correct way to eat them anyway (took 2 of them home in my empty Sikhye cup). My only tips are to hang out early in front of the Dunkin Donuts for the shuttle, Schedule a massage after visiting the Wet Sauna, Hydrate!, bring socks if you're not comfortable walking around barefoot. Although the workers are constantly cleaning. If you're petite, use the Yellow Kid's uniform. Only criticism is that the women's pink uniform tops are extremely large and an extra thick sweatshirt material, which I quickly overheated in. To preface, I've only gone to Sojo in NJ prior, so I had more exposure to less traditional spa type of things. This place felt a bit antiquated? Not completely dilapidated but it was very cozy and plain, I suppose. You go upstairs to get changed with a key to a locker. I figured out that there were a stack of clothes and towels that you could snag and kinda wandered around, turning 360 for signs or any direction. There were a bunch of nice hot and relaxing dry saunas and I didn't realize that many were duplicates. Ex. two mineral salt saunas, two amethyst rooms, etc. Bulhanjeungmak was probably the most interesting one at 200deg C. The smell of oak pleasantly overpowered the aroma of neighbouring sweat. I had fun engaging in bouts of Chess and Chinese Checkers in between sauna sessions. Focusing on a physical activity with a bit more brain power while cooling down was one of the more enjoyable bits. The famous Korean Sauna eggs were pretty good for boiled eggs and I don't mind having paid $4 for a set of two. Nothing particularly interesting on their menu besides Korean supermarket ice cream sold for $5 a pop. I passed on that in favour of bingsoo at a nearby Cafe Miel, but I digress. So many different rooms and such a fun relaxing experience! There always seems to be sales so buy tickets in advance so you can take the free shuttle from KTown (though their transit hours are a bit funky, it's way easier than public transit). Food is very very overpriced and mid so I'd def recommend eating in advance, but the veggie dumplings are quite ok. Go for all the different rooms and try them all as they all have their own charm! One is incredibly hot and won't allow any phones inside but is still worth a few minutes. There are some older individuals who were weathering it out in there - so impressive! My favorite are the rooms with red light which are supposed to be rejuvenating. I've also gotten their massages as part of a package and would not really recommend as it's neither very relaxing nor muscle relieving (did not feel any different the next day). read more

Great spot for traditional Korean sauna! The facility is a bit older but for the price it's pretty good. They also have shuttle service to and from Manhattan. Get the admission tickets on Groupon for a better deal. The space is big , lots of sauna room and resting space. They also have food if you get hungry. The eggs here are a must try! read more

Similar pros and cons as before. It's nice that this place stays open late. During this visit we stayed until midnight and got a lot of usage of the coworking facilities. The Internet is a bit weird because it seemed to be unable to load certain websites including Yelp but was overall fast besides that. We tried the super hot oven sauna when it just opened and it was insanely hot. We couldn't even stay longer than a few seconds. It was nice afterwards though and we were able to stay longer. read more

We can easily spend the whole day here, and I still get lost. There are so many nooks and crannies with different types of rooms. We had a delicious lunch there as well. You can book a scrub too. Just note though that you have to be comfortable with being completely nude in the women's locker room. read more

Let me start off by saying that my family, friends, and I have had really good experiences at this spa. The facilites are nice and it was always a relaxing/fun time. The really hot sauna room was one of my favorites to go into! However, this most recent time I went (in Dec of 2022...I know this is late, sorry for not posting sooner) with my friend and brother & lots of things were not handled well. First of all, I wanted to use this gift that my boyfriend gave me that was basically a pass for 2 people that said it does not expire. Upon arrival they would not accept the gift card (which was bought from their site) because the image for the bar code in the email was supposed to be there wasn't showing. The front desk person was kind of rude to me about it and eventually they had to call the manager down to see if they could take care of it. It was said it could possibly be due to a switch in systems over the time, but in my opinion it should still have been honored. Anyways, the manager, Peter Yi, said this time we should just buy the regular tickets for this time. He gave me his number saying for me to message him and he would email someone to see if he could work on getting the tickets sorted out for next time. By the time we go through all that, it was an awkward time pricing wise because we could wait until like 7pm for the pricing to be a little lower or pay whatever that price was and go in. We decided to wait, but obviously by the time it rolled around a huge line had formed and he didn't even have the curtesy to help us out with even that. On top of that it was apparently considered a holiday so they were allowed to add like a $10 fee on top of that. It's just so many annoyances piling up. Eventually we get through, but their water boiler was down so the showers only had cold water and that took a while to get fixed too. So that wasn't fun! Other than that we still made the best time of what we could because it is a bit of a trek for us to get here. Fast Forward a little bit I messaged the manager and he said he was trying to contact said person. It was taking weeks and eventually he ghosted me. This spa was extremely disappointing and feels like it has never been updated since it opened. The experience went downhill immediately at check-in. The front desk staff member was rude, nasty, and unprofessional, with a clear language barrier. Instead of trying to help, she became visibly annoyed, sucking her teeth and acting angry, which was shocking customer service behavior. To make matters worse, I was charged over $300 twice. No one seemed to understand the issue, and since I had already driven there, I stayed and planned to dispute it later if needed. The facility itself was dirty and uncomfortable. It honestly felt like someone's home poorly converted into a spa. I avoided the bathhouse altogether because it looked unsanitary and I didn't want to risk an infection. The sauna mats were disgusting, making it impossible to relax. The only highlight was Nami in the hip bath area--she was warm, funny, welcoming, and even apologized on behalf of the front desk. Because the bathhouse looked so outdated and sketchy, I cancelled the body scrub. I did get a massage, which was actually very good, but even that had issues: the fan was left on and the door was open, so the atmosphere wasn't relaxing despite the therapist doing great work. The restaurant food was good, and thankfully when we checked out, a different front desk employee quickly identified the billing errors and charged us correctly for only the services we received, avoiding a bank dispute. We also learned the original staff member never scanned our Groupon and charged extra admission fees. Overall, the price is far too high for the quality, the building is large and confusing with little staff guidance, and this was easily the most low-budget Korean day spa I've ever been to. There are far better, cleaner, and more relaxing options elsewhere. Idk how anyone can rave about this low budget spa. read more
