Not sure how there are so many poor reviews. I've been a long time customer of the fountain spa and always had a great experience from facials and massages I've always left happy. Yes they are a bit high in price but you cannot beat the services and amenities they provide. I always enjoy their steam room before my services as it is one of the best in the area and does wonders for your skin. I was just in for a deep tissue massage and I was so happy by the time I left. My body felt rejuvenated and beat up in the best way. My masseuse Donna did an amazing job on getting my back knots and shoulder problem areas which most people really struggle to get out. I feel fantastic and relaxed. After my massage she brought me upstairs to the tranquility room where there is an array of healthy snacks to enjoy and plenty of beverages to make. I enjoyed the tea and water and relaxed a bit before heading down to the showers to rinse off my oil and go home. Always a pleasant experience and any time I've been here and had a complaint or issue I brought it directly to the front desk and it was immediately take care of. read more

My sister in law planned 3 facials to celebrate our sister-in-law's birthday! I had a terrible experience about 5 years ago in Hackensack, so was happy she chose the Ramsey location. My appointment was with Juliet and I thought she did a great job. She explained everything she was doing and the whole experience was perfect. I really loved my facial and my face felt great. Both my sister in laws loved there facials as well. We all agreed it was a very nice experience. My only complaint is the place could be updated. It's stuck in the 80s. we had a $500 gift certificate that my elderly mother was not able to use. We went to them and asked them to honor it and that would be by an additional $500 gift certificate to use with it. They referred us to customer service took my gift certificate. Nobody ever called us back. I went back there three times personally finally got a voicemail from someone saying there was nothing they could do. Terrible terrible customer service I will never never use again there was nothing for them to lose. They already had the $500 gift certificate money and we're gonna get another $500 in additional monies and keep a customer instead they are the last will ever use. read more

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE I usually never write reviews, but I felt compelled to share this experience because no one should be treated the way I was -- especially when you're simply trying to enjoy a service meant for relaxation and self-care. I had a deep tissue massage booked with Jackie and was immediately met with rudeness and a visible attitude. Her tone of voice was loud and harsh -- completely the opposite of the calm, soothing energy you expect at a spa. Within the first few minutes, I could already tell this was going to be a terrible experience. I politely asked her not to use too much oil and specifically requested that she avoid getting any in my hair. Despite that, she proceeded to use an excessive amount and drenched the bottom of my hair near my neck with oil -- a clear sign she wasn't listening or didn't care. The massage itself was fast-paced, erratic, disorganized, and lacked any meaningful pressure. It felt more like a rushed Swedish massage than a deep tissue. I was tense the entire time -- never relaxed. Jackie never once checked in with me until the very end, when she briefly asked about the pressure just minutes before the session ended. To make things worse, she had long nails that made parts of the massage uncomfortable. Her movements were aggressive and careless, yanking covers and repositioning my body with no care or communication. At one point, she spent what felt like 20 minutes massaging the same foot with one hand, which made me suspect she was using her phone during the session. When I tried to express that the pressure wasn't working for me, Jackie snapped and told me I should just book a man next time. That comment was unprofessional, inappropriate, and completely unacceptable. She was also sniffing her nose throughout the massage which led me to believe she had an active cold. I left the massage not only stressed but also with neck pain that lasted for hours afterward. Again, I don't usually write reviews, but this experience was so disappointing and upsetting that I don't want anyone else to go through the same. This spa is highly priced but I was injured by a masseuse who was not properly trained and pushed hard on my bones. It was very painful, and I have bruising and pain a week later still. Very mediocre. I got a package, because I needed some self-care. I never do spa days; I normally only get massages. I will not go back to Fountain Spa. The whirlpool is not worth it. I knew this, but it was part of the package. I came out of it very itchy. The massage....Erin is very nice, but I had a huge knot in my right shoulder. I told her this and asked her to work on it. She did, but she also did my arms and legs, which I said she could ignore. I understand massage therapists address the whole body, but I needed time on my shoulder. It's worse after seeing her, so I need to pay more money to have my normal massage therapist address it. The facial was fine but nothing special. The pedicure....Patty is super detailed and kind. It's not her fault the other technician called out, so everything was running 45 minutes late. I wish the spa had informed me of this and let me decide if I wanted to cancel the pedi. They say you can cancel a service and not have to pay if you do so within 10 minutes of the service starting. But I don't have my phone on me at a spa, since I'm supposed to be relaxing. So how am I supposed to do that? Overall, I would not go back. The prices aren't horrible, but they're not great. Oh, and the tranquil room is more like the gossip room. I enjoy the spa here. I usually come for a facial and had a phenomenal facial. I took my friend with me and unfortunately her experience was not the same. When the appointment was booked, she's stated her preferences for her massage. They were not honored. Her massage was rushed and not a full hour. Much to my chagrin, I had to take that into consideration with my review. We went in at the same time and our appointments were for the same duration. She was already done and in the upstairs lounge before me - who had booked a 1 hour facial. She felt like she was on an assembly line and I felt bad as it was my suggestion and this was her first experience. Needless to say she expressed a hard pass when I attempted to book another visit. I will be back for the facial because it was great. But looks like I'll be flying solo as I cannot in good conscience recommend this establishment for massages. read more

I was given a gift card for a "Rendezvous for Two" when I first tried to use it I was told, we are closed because of Covid, but will be honoring all gift cards regardless of when they were issued. I called to make an appointment and said I had a gift card, no questions were asked about the card, when it was issued or anything. When I arrived I was told that the gift card had "depreciated" by 25%, this was a policy they had decided upon. I said that was unfair because it was not stated when it was sold, and it was not what I was told during Covid, and was not told to me when I booked the appointment. The manager at the desk told me she understood, and agreed to honor the gift card. When I went to check out she told me that since the prices had gone up, I would have to pay a difference. I said the gift card was not for an amount, it was for a service and that is the service i received. I agreed to pay for some upgrades we ordered but felt it was unfair that they were charging me some imaginary difference in price. She said there was nothing she could do. Extremely unethical, unprofessional and slimy. FWIW the actual massage was ok, the facility is a bit rundown, and they try to upsell you on everything. This is the first review I have written about ANY product or service. Unfortunately I feel compelled to share my experience. Way overpriced with half of the lockers closed, mold on the grout in multiple locations, cold water in the whirlpool bath and rotted wood clearly visible in multiple places, especially the men's bathroom. The attitude of the attendants was fine, but its very clear that no basic maintenance is being done. $375 for a couple.. it wasn't worth it for free! If you want to get sick try it out,...other wise.... DON'T GO THERE! FYI, the Spa director just called me and yes I was VERY RUDE, because I am very angry over this! I told her she could theoretically give me a hundred free treatments and I still wouldn't go back. I value my time and health too much. PS. I'm not one to write negative reviews, but I do think one in this situation is necessary. I went to The Fountain Spa on 08/13 for a Platinum Hydrofacial to use a gift card. This was an eighty-minute service for $350. At the time of booking (and until I saw my receipt) I did not know how much this facial cost. I take accountability for this as I should have asked over the phone when I made my appointment. Prices are also not on the website. I get a hydrofacial every 8 weeks for the last two years and it is $170. I went into it thinking I would have to pay a little extra on the $150 gift card + tip. When I first arrived at the spa, I barely got a hello. The woman just asked if I was using a gift card and pointed to an email address to forward it to her. There was no warm hello and I somehow felt like I was bothering her. I walked to the next station where a woman walked me to the locker room. She did not show us any amenities (or even where the bathroom was). I changed and was quickly escorted into my room. My 80-minute facial was only 42 minutes. My appointment was at 12pm and my receipt time is 1:12pm. So, I was out of the building before my '80 minutes' should have even been up. The woman let me know that I had extremely small pores and good skin, so it was quicker than usual. This felt unfair. $350 for 42 minutes (that should have been 80). The facial was nothing special whatsoever. Only 5 things were put on my face (two of which were moisturizer and sunscreen). After the treatment was over I was brought back into the locker room. This was the first time I was not offered a glass of water after a spa treatment. When I saw that price, I was in absoutle shock. Nothing about this service felt "Platinum ". Infact, I get a better quality, longer facial for half the price. This was probably the biggest waste of money I have ever spent. Popped in for a much needed pedi. All Covid state rules are being followed & then some ... temp taken upon entry, repeat sanitation practices after each client, limited number of clients allowed in the building, Hempz hand sanitizer is everywhere. A goodie bag for everyone! Ok, not quite like getting gifts from Oprah. Each bag has a water bottle & a Kind bar, thoughtful. The Fountain services do cost a tad more than average, yet knowing everything is clean is so worth the extra $ no reusing nail files (yuck) or buffers here. Jill is my gal and what a Pro! She is awesome in color selection, picking up on my current mood. Jill's gentle on my feet, cleans them up, I feel human again. I took my daughter here for a 90 minute massage. It was her 16th birthday and I wanted to spoil her. Unfortunately this spa fell short of that and I left only feeling lucky that my daughter didn't know better and realize what a disappointment this place was. The location it self is dated and is in need of updating. The 90 minute pedicure wasn't anything special and I've actually had better , thoughtful pedicures at my local nail salon. The 90 minutes was mostly me soaking my feet and then sitting there for 20 mins with a wrap on my neck with the lights down. The quality of the painting was terrible as they didn't even paint the edges of the nail and so a week later my toes look terrible and they need to be redone. Don't waste your money - read more

We got a couples massage today for our anniversary and it was Horrible, to say the least! We got checked in late because the people in front of us were small-chatting at the front desk, so we quickly got changed and in the room. Therapists left us in the room over 10 mins just to take off our robes and get on the table!! This cut into our "50 minute massage" which lasted from 12:15 to 12:45. Worst of all, my massage therapist was shaking so uncontrollably that it felt like I was having a seizure! I wanted to get up and stop her because this was very stressful and not relaxing at all. I felt so nervous to bring it up because it was clear that she had some sort of medical limitation and I did not want to make her feel bad. I tipped her normally because I truely do believe that this shaking was beyond her control. So, I decided to call the spa after we got home to voice my concerns. Dawn, who called me back tried minimizing my concerns because they had "never" gotten a complaint before about this therapist. She instead tried to convince me that this poor experience was our own fault for not showing up earlier! She did not offer any type of compensation for the mess of an appointment we had today, only a discount for a future service, which I politely declined. Very poorly handled and I feel that I was not taken seriously and they did not understand how much of a waste of time and money this was for us today. I decided to treat myself to a massage for my birthday last week. I have been to the spa once before over 10 years ago and didn't care for it, but decided to give it another chance and I'm glad that I did. I felt comfortable from the moment I set foot inside the building. Aside from a pretty and clean lobby and check-in area, the COVID-19 protocols seemed to be enforced. After checking in I was escorted to the women's locker room and changed into a robe and slippers. I was told that the locker room and showers had just been opened for the first time the day before since being shut down for the pandemic. Everything looked immaculate. Once changed I went to the little waiting area (note that chairs were not 6 feet apart but I was the only one waiting for my treatment at the time) and shortly after my masseuse, DJ, escorted me out to the treatment room, which had a sign stating that it had been sterilized. I opted for an 80-minute pink Himalayan sea salt massage. The entire experience was relaxing and perfect. I was then escorted upstairs to the tranquility room with an indoor waterfall wall and light refreshments. After the past stressful 14 months I left feeling refreshed and de-stressed. Since we are still in a pandemic I have a few suggestions to the spa are as follows: - the robes and slippers should be individually wrapped to protect them from germs before handing them out to customers - I didn't see anyone disinfecting the women's lockers or showers, so perhaps there can be more of a presence for customers to feel more confident that disinfecting is indeed taking place between clients and throughout the day - the plastic cups for water in the tranquility room should be individually wrapped so that nobody's bare hands hands can handle them - I was told when I scheduled the appointment that I'd have to call from the parking lot before my appointment and then received an email stating that as well. When I called the receptionist told me they did away with that rule the day before. It's not a big deal at all, but they should clearly communicate all new rules to their customers prior to appointments. Not sure you can call this place a spa. They did not honor a gift card service after they raised prices one month before Christmas?! So my gift card was for a SERVICE and they wanted me to pay the difference. What kind of company does that?! AWFUL business practice! No clue how they stay in business. Aside from the fact that the place is ugly... run down. NOT clean. The showers were gross. The speakers were blown in the massage room so I heard 50 minutes of static. Everything is covered in a layer of dust. The tranquility room is FAR from tranquil. The entire place looks like it hasn't been updated since the 90s. If the "manager" at the front desk had any interest in taking care of the customer, I would've let the problem with the aesthetics go. But she literally did NOTHING to rectify the ridiculous cost increase and wanted me to pay the difference of the gift card I was using that was purchased for a service. I'll never be back. And I'll be sure to tell my friends and family to do the same. What a shame! This place used to be pretty good. I can't even give then one star but I had to in order to publish the review. The masseuse my family member had was TEXTING DURING her service. I'm beyond confused. How is this ok? Clearly they are not managing their team well. I got there at the time my massage was supposed to start due to unprecedented traffic and they deducted time from my massage. I was pretty pissed off to say the least, as I did arrive at the time my massage was scheduled for. I had never been there before so was unaware that they start it right at that minute and deduct time from it that YOU paid for. Kind of shady Regardless, staff was very kind and amenities were clean. Massage was fine, breakfast snacks and tea offered were very nice and steam room is a nice plus. Next time (if I return) I'll make sure to get there about 45 minutes early and I wish I was notified when I made the appointment that that is the way they do things there. read more

I really should write up two separate reviews. 5 stars goes to Erin and Star for top notch massages. Now let me explain why I gave 2 stars. My friend and I entered the premises and was greeted at a small table that checked our temperatures and signed us in. We proceeded to the main desk. There they ask you for any gift cards and etc. they wanted to hold on to every thing. I said that I prefer to hang on to everything. I knew my gift card had a few hundred dollars on it and I didn't feel right leaving it. I had 2 other gift cards with it as well. It's a lot of money for me. They insisted that's how they do things there. I gave in. Massages were excellent. Thank you Erin. 80 relaxing minutes! My muscles have no stress! Lol When I come out to pay....you are probably guessing....money was not accounted for. They said my gift card was $100. The gal who was taking care of me was very nice. I insisted that that was wrong. She showed me how the desk wrote $100 on it. I told her to look it up and check. The lady then told me that I was right. She even went over to the desk with me to show their mistake. I was pissed at them. I actually waited for the front desk person to apologize! I write this review to warn others. I loved being able to use the steam room to relax and open my pores. Juliet, my aesthetician for my facial, was so kind and made me feel relaxed during my entire service. I was extremely underwhelmed with this spa, and considering the price, I expected way better. I arrived with my two sisters. The girl behind the counter seemed super confused when I mentioned that we were all together and would be paying as such; I'm not sure why she had such difficulty understanding the idea. We were led to the locker room: it was SO crowded, we were bumping into other women while undressing, and when we were finally in our robes, we went to sit in the waiting room until we were called. There was not a SINGLE SEAT left, so we just stood there. It was also super loud (not the establishment's fault, but perhaps they could have signs to remind the ladies to talk quietly?). I want to relax in quiet at a spa, not feel like I'm in a loud bar. My youngest sister got called into her appointment, and since there were no seats in the main room, I went into the "couples lounge" right next door with my other sister so we could sit. A few minutes later, the huge loud crowd of women left, so my sister and I went to take seats in the main waiting room. Apparently our aestheticians were "looking everywhere for us!"- but clearly not, because we were just in the next room. As for the facial - I've definitely had better. My aesthetician Erika was very quick and hurried in everything she did, from applying cleanser to putting lotion on my hands/feet. It wasn't very relaxing at all. I'd also prefer if she'd mention what she was about to do before doing it: it's a little unnerving laying there with eyes closed and all of a sudden a towel/painbrush/finger/lipgloss is on your face. I usually have someone say things like, "Okay, I'm going to apply a mask now" or "Here comes a hot towel" etc. Maybe I'm being picky but I found myself being startled every 3 minutes. I never knew what she was doing -- was she cleansing? putting on a moisturizer? putting on an oil? I was guessing the whole time. $100 facial --- I've had much much much better for $60. At the end of the facial, she wrote down what products she used on me in case I wanted to buy them from the boutique. We had lunch upstairs afterward. The food is alright; nothing special. The room where you eat could benefit from sheer curtains, as it overlooks the parking lot and dumpsters. Not very spa-like at all. In fact, the decor of the entire spa is very 90's - seafoam green armchairs on wheels, big valance curtains, and could definitely use a renovation. I've been to beautiful spas in the Rockland/Bergen/Westchester area that are much more updated, tranquil, and relaxing. I felt like I was in a time warp. My 16 year old sister had a mani/pedi with Virginia, who apparently complained the entire time about her crappy childhood in the city, how she disliked sports (my sister is a star softball player in the county), how lots of teenagers come for pedicures and have gross feet because they take ballet... the list went on. Really? What kind of relaxation is this if your manicurist is complaining the whole time? And why does she think my 16 year old sister (or anyone!) would want to listen to that? After we were finished, we basically could have walked right out without paying - nobody was at the front desk monitoring anything!! Luckily, we're honest people, so we waited for someone to return, and we were then told we had to pay/checkout in the boutique. Super weird. Overall - it was not relaxing BEFORE the service or DURING the service. Not returning. $380 for 2 facials, and one mani/pedi plus tip and lunch. I had a gift certificate I lost but found and when I contacted the fountain was told it would only be worth 50% the value. While I understand in concept, it was purchased as a dollar amount not a service so it is really double dipping that they both increase the cost of their service and then only allow you to use 50% of the dollar value. Be that as it may, I went ahead and booked my service since I've used the fountain for close to 30 years. In booking my service I confirmed the price both by website and with the person by phone only to be called the evening before to be told the prices went up and that I would be subject to the price change. I spoke to a manager, Isabella and advised her that I did not think it was fair that they call less then 24 hours ahead and will not honor the price I was quoted, but she said that I would be subject to the price change since there is a disclaimer on the website that says it's subject to price change. It is unfortunate that this business cares more about squeezing you for what they can through their fine print rather then honoring a covenant made with the customer with less than 24 hours notice. They should be ashamed of themselves and I will no longer be a customer. I hope they're happy with the little bit of extra money they're getting from me this time since I have no choice but to use my gift certificates up. So this was my first time visiting Fountain Spa! I didn't realize how huge it was until I pulled up! I was in for a treat! The check in process went smooth! They have multiple floors of services just so you know! I walked in and was greeted and taken care of by Jill! She was absolutely amazing! So hospitable and sweet! Because I was a first timer to the spa, she explained all of the options for spa pedicures (which I love when people teach you and explain things) I chose the paraffin because I like my feet to be soft and smooth and hydrated! While I was getting my feet done, she offered me some water and helped me to put on the massager chair. She also offered me some snacks which I appreciated because sis was a little hungry. She then exfoliated and moisturized my legs and feet which felt soooooo good! After came the paraffin which was HEAVEN! I just love heat on my body so the paraffin was excellent! She then polished my toes so nicely! The only thing I wish this spa did was designs but other than that, service was too notch! Only good things to say about my recent spa treatments at The Fountain Spa! I was visiting from out of town and treated myself to the Himalayan Sea Salt Massage for 80mins and the Alphatherapy Firming Facial. The massage was with Lynn and she did a really great job working on my very stiff and sore neck. The hot salt stones helped melt away the tension I had from traveling. 80 minutes is a splurge but definitely the way to go! The facial was with Stefanie and she was very thorough - making sure to explain each step of the facial process. She was quite knowledgable about skincare and shared some very helpful suggestions. The facial itself was relaxing and I left with a definite glow! The facilities are nice - I enjoyed the steam room and a hot shower before my treatments. This was a pricey spa day but I felt it was worth the money. read more

This was my first time at The Fountain Spa in Ramsey NJ. I was with a group of 4. We were greeted at the front desk and they verified our names and our schedules massages. Then we moved on to the hospitality desk where we received our robes and slippers. Next we ventured to the changing rooms where we changed and stored our things in private, locking lockers. The waiting area was clean and they offered lemon water or bottled. They were very busy on this Sunday, but that didn't bother us. Next was the wonderful 50 minute Swedish massage. My therapist was Holly and she was delightful. She asked my preferences and accommodating every request perfectly. It was truly a relaxing experience. After they had showers should you wish to wash away all the massage oils. We stopped by the gift shop and purchased a couple pieces of jewelry before leaving. ​My mother and I booked an appointment at The Fountain Spa Ramsey location today 3/28/2019. From beginning to end I was appalled at the poor customer service and treatment of my mother and I. From the moment I walked in there was a lack of warm welcoming from the front desk, specifically Ellen. Once checked in, we were sent to the hospitality desk where we were greeted by a very kind Diana. She was warm, friendly and polite, she showed us to our lockers and dressing room area. I entered into the dressing room to change and in this time my mother, who is elderly, tripped and fell in the locker room area. She took quite a hard fall. Diana was there immediately to help me get my mother up and off the ground. After her fall we realized that she injured herself worse than we anticipated and she was bleeding from her knee and had a scrape on her hand. Diana rushed to grab first aid equipment (bandaids, hydrogen peroxide, gauze, ​​and Neosporin). Upon realizing her fall was worse than we thought I did not think it was a good idea to continue with the massage. I proceeded to the front desk where I, again, dealt with Ellen. I explained the situation and asked if there were any way we could reschedule the massages as my mother had injured herself. Instead of first asking if my mother was OK, or if there was anything her or the staff could do to assist, or even asked if she needed medical attention she responded that typically for a no show appointment they would usually charge a cancellation fee as the massage therapists would not lose out on that appointment. I paused and said again, "my mother fell". She seemed not to really care about the incident and then said that they could reschedule due to the circumstances but that I would need to pick a date at that moment. Overwhelmed, I responded that I needed to get back to my mother, who was still cleaning up her cut​, and I was not sure when I could reschedule. Ellen then told me I could call to​ reschedule. Throughout this entire exchange,​ I was still not asked if my mother was ok or if she needed help. In fact, there was not even one ounce of concern or sympathy that she had fallen. I went back to the locker room and helped my mother clean up her bandages and get her ready to leave. As we were approaching the exit I was again confronted by Ellen, she requested if we could fill out an incident report and I said I would as soon as I got my mother settled in the car. Ellen still did not ask if my mother was ok, or if she needed assistance or help. I returned, filled out the incident report on my mother's behalf and returned it to the front desk. I made my way back to hospitality to thank Diana for all her help but could not find her. On my way back out I, I overheard Ellen say to another staff member of the spa "did you read this incident report" and chuckle. If I had to guess Ellen probably thought I had already left, I then proceeded to turn to her and ask for her name​ and exited the facility. Once in my car, Ellen approached my car to give me the​ gift certificate I had left inside. It was at that point​ when my mother was already in the car and after I had asked for her name, that she suddenly seemed very "concerned" for my mother. Asking her if she was ok, needed anything or wanted Tylenol. Never in my life have I received​ such poor service, or dealt with a staff member that was so inconsiderate, insensitive and unaccommodating. Given the circumstances (my mother's fall) and the fact that she is an elderly woman,​ I would have expected especially good service. I will NOT be returning back to The Fountain Spa (even if it means that my gift card goes to waste) and will make sure that this terrible experience is posted on all social media platforms. read more

I was not at all impressed with the services I had. I got a prenatal facial and it felt like the esthetician was just putting stuff all over my face and forgetting to wipe it off. She even put exfoliant up in my ears. Like in my ear canal. I spent all night trying to get it out. It was infuriating. She stuck her fingers into my ears with exfoliant on her fingers and basically gave me a wet willy with a thick beaded soap and then never washed it out. I should have stopped her then and walked out. If management sees this - I would like to know why that happened. She did extractions like a teenager picking at zits... not professional extractions at all. I had scars from it. The massage was mediocre. Just rubbing me with oil that I didn't get to pick out. The customer service was fine, until the very end. I was in the lobby waiting for my husband and this woman who worked there was cursing up a storm in the main lobby about a customer who was taking too long in the steam room. She said he needed to "get his shit and leave already." That's very relaxing huh. I love to spend money on spas that are too expensive just for the experience but I will not be back, nor will I recommend. If anyone knows of an actually good spa please let me know! read more

Came for a bikini wax. The lady I was with was lovely, but I felt rushed. She also scoffed at me when I yelped as she ripped the wax off. When I came home I noticed that there were patches of hair left that should have been removed. The triangle she left was off center and super crooked. It looked terrible. read more

My boyfriend surprised me with a gift card for Christmas as I love massages and treatments and haven't been to a day spa in almost a year. I use to regularly go to Buttermilk Falls Inn and Spa and received treatment daily until a little over a year when I moved to NJ from NY- then started going to elements spa outside of Vernon NJ in Sussex county but have always wanted to try the Fountain Spa. I reserved a deluxe Swedish. While waiting over 20 mins in a stiff chair with 10-12 other women- therapists began yelling out names for services. My appointment was for 1pm and after checking my phone and realizing it was already 1:06pm I was kind of caught off guard. A minute later my therapist greets me and then he walks me up a flight of stairs which reminded me of a car garage - metal stair case with the heavy doors but whatever I was excited for my service . I asked if he could focus on my neck and upper back and was surprised when he told me I ordered the deluxe Swedish and if there was time he would spend more time on that. Started the massage on my back and would say most of my massage was just lathering oil on me. I didn't even get the chance to relax because I could hear people talking and laughing when the music lowered half way through my massage. I'm assuming I was next to the tranquil room where snacks and water are offered? Then the end of my massage was wasted on a good 5-7 minutes of him cleaning up while I was face down covered in oil- he then finished rinsing whatever it was in the sink and says "this concludes your massage and ill be waiting outside for you". I checked my phone and it was 1:53pm. Not even a 50 minute massage with him cleaning up while I was laying face down covered in oil. When I went to check out the women didn't ask me about my services- just if I used a gift card then told me to go to the boutique because gift card transactions could only be done there. Went there and again, was never asked how my service went. She asked what I'd like to leave for a tip- and ran my credit card for the additional costs that the gift card didn't cover. Well... I don't enjoy giving unpleasant reviews. I generally reach out to the business first before turning to social media, but the review link they sent me only had options regarding my services, which were both enjoyable enough. The problem is everything else. I was given a gift card for Christmas. I go to a lot of spas and massage therapy centers. I walked into an extremely cold receptionist. The girl had an arrogance about her. No smile, no welcome..."name?, giftcard?...walk that way..." my thoughts: which way??(no instruction). Spa has a very cold atmosphere. Only magazines are local magazines that Fountain advertises in. Downstairs, only water, no tea or coffee. "Tranquility room" upstairs also very cold, NOTHING zen about it. Here, tea, yogurt or cheese sticks. No luxurious feeling. Again, the services themselves were fine but nothing outstanding. Do yourself a favor and spend your money elsewhere. read more

This was my first time coming here and my husband and I opted for the rendezvous package for our anniversary (private whirlpool followed by side-by-side massages). Erica and Erin were great and the entire staff was very welcoming and kind. The entire experience was super relaxing, both of us enjoyed the whole experience. The water in the whirlpool was very warm (but adjustable) and the tranquility room was nice to wait in between our treatments. The only thing I didn't like was that there were no clocks around (we didn't want to bring our phones/watches around with us). read more

This is my second time at The Fountain Spa, but my first time at the Ramsey location. Coming on a Saturday was probably not the best idea, but when you work the typical 9-5 job, Saturdays are your best option. My husband got me a 2 hour Full Paraffin body massage so it's obviously a massage I couldn't pass up. I made the appointment for 9am on a Saturday which is when they open, and it seems to be the best time. After reading my fellow Yelpers' reviews, my expectations were low and was skeptical about the customer service. Proving me wrong, I walked in greeted by a few people. I clearly looked lost, never having been to this location, and the staff was helpful in directing me where to go. For those who are have never been to a spa, let me walk you through step by step... Upon arriving at this location, you enter through the glass door on the right (next to an elevator) to check in. You present any gift certificates or gift cards immediately upon arriving and they hold on to it until you check out. You're then asked to walk further in to another room where another person will provide you with a robe and slippers. She will then lead you to the locker room (really small) and show you where your locker is. She tells you how to use the locker, where the bathrooms and showers are, and where you'll wait after you change into your robe. After changing, you're then in a very small waiting area that probably includes 10 seats until your name is called by your masseuse. While all this was happening, I took the opportunity to explore while there weren't a lot of people- from my venturing, the place itself is really clean, but I can see how it can get filthy FAST when I was done with my massage around 11am. By the time I came out of my massage, the waiting area was filled with people waiting for their massage (maybe it's a group?) and the robes and slippers deposit basket was already piling up. The locker room was filled with women coming in and out and changing with their things laying around. Thankfully, the women I've encountered were courteous in moving their things if they knew they were in your way and there wasn't an issue with the locker room being small. Also note, for those who are pregnant, there are two dressing rooms in the locker room for additional privacy. Now, getting to my ACTUAL massage- F*ing amazing. It was a much needed massage and my masseuse, Marisol, was phenomenal. She brought me back to the room and instructed me on what to do for my paraffin wax. She explained herself before ever doing anything and always told me to let her know if there was anything that made me uncomfortable, if the wax was too hot, or if I wanted any pressure change in the actual massage. For those unfamiliar with the paraffin wax, you basically get a full body scrub, followed by a quick rinse in the shower, then wax put on your body. Once the wax has been completely applied, your masseuse wrap you up tightly (please warn them if you're claustrophobic). Your masseuse will then leave you there, wrapped up, for about 15-20 minutes to relax. When they re-enter the room, they unwrap you and start your full body massage. I cannot say enough good things about Marisol. From her greeting to the actual massage to explaining everything before doing anything really helps those who are possible newbs to massages. Being that I went really early in the morning, the entire staff was extremely friendly and welcoming from beginning to end and I could not praise the staff enough. Keep in mind that I was one of two or three girls who had an early appointment, so customer service may vary depending on the time you're there. I gave this a three star only because I think the spa itself is too commercialized where it's sort of became a place where it's not for relaxation. Because it's such a popular place and there's so much traffic daily, it's tough to really come here and "feel relaxed" until you're actually in a room. I've gone to spas where the separation and set up has been so isolated that you wouldn't even remember you're in a spa with other people. By the time I left around 11:15am, the parking lot was full, masseuses were running around to try and get all their clients in and out on time. I didn't even bother with visiting the tranquility room because I had other things to do, but I would like to come back and visit if I had more time. Overall, the staff was great and the place was very clean (ish), assuming that I was there really early. Rating the prices of the massages, I'd say The Fountain Spa is a bit overpriced and I've paid less for more at other places. I would probably come back at a less busy time and if I had the money to dish out for random weeknight massages! read more

5 years later and not much has changed - except that I now go to just about anyone for waxing because I have little to no preference since just about everyone has been great. I go for waxing, massages, and now facials. The customer service has been excellent. The treatments are fantastic though expensive. The wax package has saved me a lot of money over the last few years. The employees go above and beyond to ensure that my experience is nothing but the best, especially Rosa who is extremely polite and attentive. My aestheticians work incredibly hard and I am so grateful for how comfortable they have made me feel through waxing and other treatments. I typically only go to the Spa on weekday mornings and afternoon to avoid busy times. Love this place! Always a treat. read more
