Making the appointment was easy and her office was close to home and work at the time so there was that. Every time I've been in his office he's listened to what I've had to say, performed some tests to determine what the true cause is and then tells me what I need to take / do to remedy the problem. If you're paying out of pocket he's extremely understanding, and will go through the prescriptions and let you know which ones are critical and which are for which symptoms. E.G.: "This one's for nausea, and this one's the antibiotic that has the side effect of nausea, So, if you can handle the nausea or don't get the side effect you can probably do without the first one" Just. Freaking. Awesome!

I arrived 10 minutes early, was brought back within five minutes to take my vitals, and then was told--without prior notice--that this was being treated as a "new patient appointment," not a checkup. That was confusing, since I had clearly booked a checkup. After that, I was left alone in a small exam room for over 40 minutes without any updates. I finally went to the front desk to find out what was happening and to confirm the nature of my appointment. I was told Irene was "behind" and that they don't do annual checkups until after a new patient intake, which no one mentioned at any point before or during the visit. Most doctors do both at once, since it involves the same information. They told me Irene would now see me, so I returned to the room--only to overhear Irene Spanos badmouthing me, clearly frustrated that I had "left the room," even though I had been sitting there for 40 minutes without any communication. To make things worse, some staff members overheard what she said and apologized to me, which shows this wasn't just a misunderstanding--it was unprofessional conduct. This experience made me feel disrespected, dismissed, and uncomfortable, and I will not be returning. Dr. Hunter, however, finds any reason she can to charge you for something she considers outside the scope of an annual physical. So, what's outside of the scope of a physical? I asked about recurring headaches I'd been having. My wife simply had her prescription refilled. Both of these occurred during our annual physicals and were billed as regular visits - literally a couple minutes of interaction with the doctor, charged $90+. I was also given additional blood tests without any notice that there'd be an additional charge. I tolerated this happening multiple times, but no more. The lady in charge of billing will talk in circles and act like she has no control over the situation. She certainly won't defend it - because it's not defensible.
