I have had bloodwork done multiple times a year over the last several years and never paid a dime. I went to the lab at this location and was hit with a bill for $500 for standard bloodwork. It is impossible to speak to anyone that can take any real action, and the people you speak to are completely unhelpful. They have all the power because they chose to code the services in a way that resulted in my insurance company not approving and refuse to reevaluate their coding or explain why this standard service was coded differently.

On the final day of my visit, as I was leaving to catch my flight, I slipped on a large puddle of water on the third floor of the hospital. This fall resulted in a significant bruise on my hip that lasted for several weeks and a head injury from hitting the corner of a wall. The impact caused immediate swelling. Concerned about flying after such an injury, I approached the nurse's station to inquire about the safety of boarding a plane. Unfortunately, no one was willing to assist me, and I was directed to speak with someone in the emergency department. Due to time constraints, I intended to submit a report regarding my fall and the puddle in the hallway. When I requested assistance from the security personnel, I was met with rudeness and informed that they did not handle such reports. Subsequently, I asked the nearby emergency department check-in staff, who kindly offered to find someone who could address my concerns about flying. The emergency department was not busy at the time, so I decided to have my injuries examined. The triage nurse was very helpful and clarified that the security personnel were responsible for filing incident reports. However, when I was seen by another nurse, she exhibited extreme rudeness. Despite explaining my situation, the nurse indicated that while it would likely be safe to fly, liability concerns required a CAT scan, which would take approximately two hours. After confirming with her that if the incident had occurred outside the hospital, she would deem it safe to fly, I chose to decline the CAT scan. My entire experience at the emergency department lasted around 15-20 minutes. Throughout this time, the security personnel and the nurse treated me as if I intended to sue the hospital. I was neither provided discharge papers nor a copy of the incident report. My primary concern was ensuring it was safe to fly, with no intentions of pursuing legal action. Nevertheless, I later received an emergency room bill for $964.80, which I refused to pay given that my injury occurred within the hospital premises. I contacted Melissa Denham, Senior Claims Manager for the hospital, seeking resolution. She informed me that the hospital's insurance does not cover medical payments to settle my emergency room bill. I firmly believe I should not have been billed in the first place as the injury occurred within their facility. My sole intention was to ascertain whether it was safe to fly or if I should reschedule my departure until the swelling subsided. Regrettably, the hospital has now turned the matter over to collections. Reflecting on this incident, it appears that being fair and decent does not yield positive outcomes.

I checked in and the lady behind the desk made my day (Kassidei) sp and she changed my outlook about Roper Also the lady that did the MRI treated me with care and compassion doing an amazing job from the time she did the insertion of the IV for the contrast, at times it can be a sign that something is wrong if they have to poke you repeatedly, not this time! I didn't feel a thing and it went into the vein at the first try. It is loud and she gave me a headset with rock music from the 70's at my request. Not sure how it would be without the music, loud as hell The MRI went smoothly and I was out in less than an hour and a quarter, test itself is long Five stars for you St Francis! and for Roper too

I actually had my child at this hospital and I wouldn't change that choice by any means. I live in Orangeburg and this is the best hospital within somewhat of a reasonable distance. However, after nearly 40 minutes of delay, I respectfully approached a staff member working the desk area to request that someone please remind the office manager that I was still waiting to discuss the situation. At that point, I was shocked by the demeanor and words of the staff member who was as unprofessional as could ever be expected, particularly in a medical facility. She cut me off mid sentence and said "I already know...and I don't care!" I could hear other staff members in the background laughing. I calmly told her that she was very unprofessional and I asked to speak to another member of their staff, she stared at me as though she had not heard me and ignored my request. Very shortly thereafter another member approached the desk and said the office manager would see me in a few minutes. My billing error issue was properly resolved by the office manager but the lack of professionalism displayed was very disturbing, keeping in mind that I was already ill and I traveled to the Doctors Care office to resolve a problem that they created. In conclusion the staff members demeanor, words and unprofessionalism was displayed in front of other waiting patients. Very sad. (BTW, I actually condensed this review but it is all true!)

MEDICAL BILLING FRAUD…read more Charged $388 for a standard annual well-woman exam that should've been free. I had to pay $388 out-of-pocket to avoid the bill (that I should never have received) going to collections. MUSC said I should be reimbursed eventually, but over a month has gone by. According to my health insurance company, MUSC has not taken any action to resolve the issue. Fraudulent billing. PSA: All women with health insurance are entitled to free annual well-woman exams under the Affordable Care Act. The exam needs to be billed correctly as preventative care.

Some healthcare facilities here clearly just push patients through and you barely get 5 minutes of the doctor's time. You won't get that at Carnes Crossroads Primary Care, or any MUSC facility for that matter. Dr. Bigelow was highly recommended to us. He has very good bedside manner and I appreciate that he actually takes the time to listen to what is going on. Plus the MUSC MyChart app is very useful for tracking test results and for communicating with your healthcare team. The only problem that I have is that everyone else in the area must be going here too because it's near impossible to get a same day appointment. I was told if you are sick you can almost always get an appointment same or next day, but I'm not sure how accurate that is. For example, my son has a possible infection and called 8am Monday morning to schedule an appointment and the earliest they could see him was Wednesday at 4pm. So it's kind of a catch 22: you'll great health care here but only if they have the time to see you. Even with that, I highly recommend going here.
