We needed a break from tapas while touring around Barcelona and I was craving something from home - i.e. Mexican food! When we passed by Rosa del Raval, I got so excited because not only did they have Mexican food, they also had a great looking salad on the menu! Two things that I was craving! This is a colorful restaurant that was packed with locals. They're famous for their mojitos and let me tell you, they're AMAZING!! They use fresh fruit puree to flavor them and strawberry was definitely my favorite. We split their nachos that had the most dreamy queso! I also had their shrimp cocktail and it was absolutely delicious. I literally felt like I should be staring at the ocean from a balcony in Mexico! For my entree, I ordered their chicken salad and it was MASSIVE! It had tons of grilled chicken, avocado, peppers, tomatoes, and a yummy balsamic dressing. It was everything that I needed and more. So fresh and so good. We would absolutely come back the next time we're visiting Barcelona, especially when it is time for a break from tapas! Thanks for satisfying my cravings! read more

Excellent Mexican food from Rosa del Raval in Barcelona. We decided to walk off La Rambla and try this place based on a few reviews we read. We ordered a flavored and a regular mojito, as well as a vegetarian burrito and cheese enchiladas. We were not too impressed with the burrito (pretty standard), but the enchiladas with rojo sauce were really good. We also ordered cheese nachos, which we really enjoyed. Service was awesome. They forgot about our second round of drinks and to make up for it, they brought us a round of tequila shots! We would come here again! read more

Es un lugar que me gusta mucho por el ambiente, me parece que siempre tiene "buena onda" (como diría en México). Siempre es un acierto para ir con un grupo de amigos. Pero ojo que jueves, viernes y sábado suele estar muy lleno, así que llega temprano. La comida me parece buena aunque bastante básica, ya que casi todo el menú se compone por tacos y burritos. La próxima vez que vaya pediré un burrito de pollo que se veía muy bueno. Si quieres algo de tomar definitivamente prueba la Margarita de maracuya. My problem when visiting Barcelona is that I spend way too much time drinking mojitos...! I can't help it, mojitos here are just so much cheaper than in France and so much better as well! So for my last trip, I asked my friends where to go and drink "the best mojito in Barcelona" (French friends, I precise, but they've been here a lot and looove mojitos) and they were unanimous about Rosa del Raval. So we went there one night, then the other night, and we loved it too! Mojito is cheap (3,5 euros) and delicious. If you're lucky, you'll get to sit outside or inside, otherwise you'll drink at the bar. There's plenty of space but the place seems to be often crowded. I haven't tried eating there but it seemed quite nice. As to the atmosphere, lots of students and 'young' people, not too touristy. All in all: loved it and I'll be back!! read more

I've been here for about a month and as much as I love tapas I need a break every now and then. I was craving Mexican food but didn't know how good it would be here in Spain. I checked yelp and this came up and decided to give it a go. VERY DELICIOUS! I was so surprised. I had the chicken enchiladas verde and couldn't put my fork down. I thought there would be good options for Mexican food in spain but looks like not. I ordered on the rocks margarita and got something like lemonade. 6 euros for lemonade, just waste of money. I make better margarita at my home then here. The guy didn't even know what salsa is. That time itself I had a doubt if I will enjoy food or mot. They charge hefty money for food and don't even include rice/beans. Not recommending this place at all. If you are craving for authentic Mexican food then this is not the place to eat. read more

After seven weeks in Europe, I had a serious craving for some Mexican food. I resigned myself to the idea that it would be mediocre, at best. Hey, I can't even get good Mexican food in most parts of the US. This place got rave reviews so I figured "what the hell." BEST. DECISION. OF. MY. ENTIRE. TRIP. The guacamole was better than any I've ever had. When my variety taco plate arrived, I was already drooling from the intense aroma from the kitchen. Picture this: New Year's Day in Barcelona with a hangover and I was over the tapas and starting to miss the LA food. Lucky for us, I still had access to yelp and was majorly craving some mexi food. Considering that we were in a different country and I highly doubted that they knew authentic mexican food, it was surprisingly good. If you like the unique looking restaurants, Rosa of del raval is perfect! Though, you should like Mexican food too.. ;) The dishes are abundant and very yummy. You can find cool things like "Passion fruit water" and mojitos at 3.50€! The midday menu is really affordable and super worth it because for 9€ you get 3 dishes and the drink (which is almost the cost of a dish). By the way, I highly recommend burritos. Visited this restaurant on a Monday night around 7:00pm, which we learned is quite early for this culture. This is one of the two nights we actually went to bed feeling like we ate dinner and not just snacks. Completely agree with other posts; staff there were happy and seemed like they liked being at work. They had English menus which isn't expected but, appreciated. Tex-Mex as you would experience in the United States. Margaritas were good, too! After a few days of tapas it was nice to have an option that was both open and serving portions we were accustomed to. But if you're looking for taco truck style burritos or $1 tacos, you will be dissapointed. However, there is very little to pick from in terms of Mexican food in Barcelona. The food here was delicious. We got the nachos with meat & fish tacos. We also got a few of the mojitos. The have really good flavors. We tried the guava, passion fruit and strawberry. The guava was my favorite. I also got a michelada and it was also very good! Probably one of the best ones I've had. The servers were extremely helpful and friendly and attentive. There was a small incident which we honestly weren't bothered by at all, and they comped our whole bill. Which was super nice and so unnecessary but they felt so bad. Honestly i would recommend it. Horrible experience as a vegetarian. Beans and rice are cooked in chicken broth and if you want to replace these ingredients you pay 1 € or 1.50€ for every ingredient. You not only bay for the meat you are not eating but also the addrd veggies. So disrespectful for a growing world wide community of vegetarians and vegans. Great place in the b. Get the guac and ask for both salsas. The hot salsa was not hot at all. The chicken enchiladas with the green salsa were great. The chicken mole was good, but I wish it was shredded. I asked for tortillas for the mole dish and they brought hot ones. The rice is almost perfect. I liked the refried beans but they were not very warm. The plates were not hot or warmed up either. Chain smokers outside but we rolled with it. read more

Another big case of "thank you Yelpers" International! We've gotten used to using Yelp in Europe and our recent trip to Barcelona was definitely a great example of this. We were wandering around the relative wasteland of the middle Ramblas area around midday and getting hungry and Rosa Del Raval popped up in a quick search. Rick Steves is definitely a bit behind the times in continuing to refer to El Raval as a haven for junkies and prostitutes. It is actually quite a safe, hip area, awash with amazing street art and full of hip, interesting shops and Rosa Del Raval is one of the new jewels in their food scene. There are actually a few of these "Rosa" restaurants around town but the modern, inspired design of RdelRaval is particularly outstanding. This is a very "Brooklyn" area of town (lets face it Barcelona is now actually setting the standard for cool) and the restaurant would be quite at home there. We were still in time for the daily prix fixe which consisted of a nice order of taquitos followed by a plate with well cooked, good quality steak and fixins. The food was all delicious and they have a wonderful bar service and cheap wines by the glass. Service was warm, welcoming and relatively quick for Catalonia. This lunch really hit the spot 100% for us in every area. The location, just a few blocks off Las Ramblas, is very nice on a shady street with a few outdoor tables and adjacent restaurants. It would be a great lunch spot if visiting the nearby Contemporary Art museum and adjacent sites. Based on this experience we grabbed a bite later in the week at the Rosa Negra over on Laietana and enjoyed that as well. If you like good Mexican food in an interesting, hip setting this restaurant really is a delightful Rose in El Raval. read more

I absolutely love Mexican food and have tried a few places in Barcelona and this restaurant is a big disappointment. The food is very bland, tasteless, boring, no chilli, no spice it doesn't taste like mexican food at all. If you ask for chilli sauce they charge extra for bottled sauce not even home made sauce. It was also very awkward that the skinny waitress wouldn't stop staring at my boyfriend the whole time and made sure she would turn her skinny ass his direction every time we had to order something. While living in El Raval after an intensive TEFL course in Barcelona, my roommates and I were craving some Mexican food. What can I say, we're American and I'm from Southern California; I love me some Mexican food! I discovered Rosa Raval on my own one day while out and about looking for new places to eat. Rosa Raval is next to Victorias, a local tapas joint and a Vietnamese place of which I can't remember the name. I decided to eat at Rosa Raval because of their Menu del Dia prices - it's only 9Euros. The Menu del Dia comes with a starter (Ensalada or Flautas) and a main dish - there are several options to choose from - my favorite are the shredded beef tacos. You also get a drink (water or soda or some flavorful Mexican water) and dessert (or coffee). My friends and I went back not long after I discovered Rosa Raval and tried new things. The guacamole is delicious! The salsas they give you with your meals come in two flavors. One is orangeish in color and is spicy, possibly some type of chipotle salsa. The other is red in color and tastes more mild with and underlying heat. I prefer the orangish spicy salsa. Essentially, everything I have tried at Rosa Raval is flavorful and filling but besides the food, the service is amazing! I forgot my wallet at home one day (definitely thought someone stole it and freaked out) and the waitress asked the manager if I could leave something behind while I went home to check for it. Thankfully the manager said yes and more thankfully, my wallet was at home, where I'd left it! From then on, I knew the employees were top notch people and I have never had bad service in all the times I've been to Rosa Raval. If you haven't been yet, definitely go! You'll enjoy the service, the ambiance and certainly the food! read more

I'm Mexican and I live in Los Angeles - I KNOW what good Mexican food is. Rosa del Raval is good Mexican food. Although the flavors in Spain are different (aka not as oily/cheesy/spicy as I'm used to), Rosa del Raval was good enough to visit twice during my 4-day stay. The menú del día was absolutely perfect. For only 8.50 eu, you get an appetizer, entree, dessert and non-alcoholic beverage. For only 3.50, I highly recommend their mojitos. After all, the best way to avoid a hangover is to wake up and just keep drinking, right? read more
