Who would have thought that you could find great Mexican food in Barcelona?! I guess there is a reason why they have a reservation website that you need to sign up on! (So make sure you plan on what time you plan to eat there so you can reserve ahead of time!) We arrived at our reservation time and was quickly seated upstairs in the loft area. The whole restaurant has bright vibrant decor that definitely gives it even more energy. The menu was online via QR code but we did not have reception so the server was able to give us their physical menu. We ordered a guava mojito, carne asada burritos and guacamole with chips. They had me sold on the burrito when I read in the description that it had refried beans, rice, lettuce, cheese, pico de gallo, and sourcream (aka a "super burrito" in SF). The guava mojito was delicious. The housemade guava and chips were fire. And the burritos! They were reminiscent of SF La Corneta/El Farolito "super burritos"!!! The server also gave us 4 different salsas to try when we asked for a spicy salsa. They were all delicious! When we come back to Barcelona, we will definitely stop by again!!! read more

I tried a couple of their margheritas and thought they tasted delicious. I also got the birria tacos and those were great as well. Great Mexican food! From the other reviews I see that it's difficult to find good Mexican food in Barcelona, so Rosa Negra is a solid choice if you're having a craving. Service was great - we had to wait only ten minutes for a table, which was impressive considering how packed the place was. I got the vegetarian burrito for €7.90, and it was jam packed with all the classic stuff: corn, rice, beans, lettuce, sour cream, cheese, and guac. It is apparently always crowded here so be prepared for a wait if you go during a peak time. For my meal I went with chicken tacos. The tacos come in fours. I was really disappointed that you could not mix and match the tacos because I wanted to try the chicken, fish, and grilled beef, but was limited to having all four chicken. The chicken tacos were pretty bland. The toppings for all of the other tacos had a lot more variety, while the chicken tacos don't come with anything on them. Food: I always get the fish tacos when I go because they are perfect every single time plus they come with a little guacamole which is a plus. Rosa Negra often comes to my rescue when I'm eating late in Barcelona. It's lively and loud and always packed with people. The food isn't really anything special. If you want better Mexican food, I recommend Tlaxcal. I've had the enchiladas and the carne asada burrito here and it's supremely mediocre. The sincronizada is a weird slice of ham in a quesadilla, so it's not worth your money. I do think the super nachos are pretty filling and a decent option if you're pounding drinks. The benefit of Rosa Negra is that it stays open later than most places in the Gothic Quarter. 12:30 a.m. most nights and 1:30 on Fridays and Saturdays. Also, for some reason, there is always a parade of incredibly beautiful young women here. I'm guessing the margaritas, loud colors, tacky decorations, and lively atmosphere appeal to the 20-something crowd. Rosa Negra is nothing special, but if you need a late night Mexican fix, it can be a godsend. read more

I wasn't expecting much from a Mexican place in Spain, but I was pleasantly surprised! Food was excellent and I think as close to authentic as you can get for being an ocean away from the real stuff. The ceviche was excellent as well as the tacos. The only thing missing was a bit of salsa (which I believe costs extra). The al pastor quesadillas were a bit mid along with the quesabirria, but still good (again, needed a bit of salsa). Definitely don't skip the cajeta crepes with ice cream for dessert! My only complaint is that you either have to pick just 1 meat for the tacos or get the sampler that has one of each, no mixing and matching like I'm used to, but otherwise definitely worth checking out if you're in Barcelona! read more

The most important thing to note here is that they have the BEST MOJITOS EVER! My husband and I were walking back to our hotel from dinner and planning to hit the sack after a long day of exploring but we couldn't help but wonder where all of the laughter and good vibes were coming from, out of a vibrant and colorful spot! So, naturally, we wanted to join the party! The restaurant was PACKED and while we had already eaten, we were definitely down to indulge in one of their famous mojitos that are always on special. Oh man, we were so happy that we stopped in. Rosa Negra and their sister restaurant were definitely a highlight of our trip to Barcelona. I ordered their fresh muddled strawberry mojito and it was absolutely incredible. They make their fruit purees in house and fresh, which makes the mojitos all that much better. They are like dessert! I really didn't NEED another one, but hey, we were on vacay so why not? We ended up staying for two tasty mojitos (hubby had a tequila shot as his second drink) and needless to say, we slept GREAT that night! ;) We didn't have any food here but we had dinner at their sister restaurant a few nights later and LOVED their Mexican food! I'm sure it is just as good here. If you're in Barcelona and looking for a fun place to stop in and take a break from tapas, the Rosa family has you covered. This place is fun and has deliciously authentic Mexican food. I'm from Arizona and I know good Mexican good. We were missing a bit of home during our trip to Barcelona, and we found this amazing spot while exploring the Gothic Quarter. They had a sign advertising tasty mojitos and frozen margaritas for €3.50, and the place was already full by 7:30pm. We went twice and there was a less than 15 minute wait each time for the two of us. The staff are friendly and attentive without being too overbearing, and the food is on point. I ordered the fish tacos each time and they were seriously some of the best fish tacos I've ever had (and a great price of €9 for four of them). Their Al Pastor tacos were also fantastic and had amazing flavor. I would highly recommend this place if you love Mexican food.
