Imagine the Black Pearl except bigger and right there in front of you. The best-named ship was the Gorch Fock II (from Germany), but the Brazilian Cisne Branco had the cutest crew. Exploring the ships requires some ladder and gangway climbing - nothing strenuous, but leave the heels at home. Don't miss the international tents, with free samples and swag: This year we got Gouda from Holland, gummi bears from Germany, a variety of sweets from India, a DVD(!) from Indonesia... There were free performances (we watched women in aprons dancing with rolling pins. huh?). Costumed pirates and wenches also roamed the wharves with pistols and swords. Kitschy but super-fun.

This year was no different than the other years and I love how the menu continues to evolve and change and everything that comes to life from the menu to the table is well thought out and bursting with harmonious blends of flavor. If you're a meat, potato and pasta person and try to avoid your veggies, don't do that here. GET IT! It's such a great melody of textures and flavors that pair well. Narragansett Creamery Burrata: green strawberry, speck, basil. Creamy, vibrant and just delicious Pasta: only had room in our tummies for 1 but every year we try different pastas and never disappoints. This year no exception. Maltagliati- hopkins southdowns lamb sugo, swiss chard, harissa, umbrian chickpea. Excellent! Pasta was perfect texture and consistency!! Little touch of spice from harissa which I loved (not overpowering). The Swiss chard was cooked to a crispy texture which I loved. I was a bit nervous about the lamb because it really can vary from place to place. However, I should have known better being from here they cooked/braised it to perfection: melt in your mouth type of soft and no weird or gamey taste. Definitely delicious pasta I recommend. Plates: 1. Duck Leg Confit- japanese turnip, spigariello kale, huckleberry conserva, duck jus. Personally my faves of the two plates but both delicious. The crispy skin from the duck and tender flavorful duck meat was just to die for. Loooooved. Plus the turnips and the amazing huckleberry conserva! Thinking about it makes my mouth water. So so good. 2. Beef Short Rib-swiss chard erbazzone, sunchoke, hazelnut. Loved it. Tasty as expected. Great flavor and tender. Dessert: 1. Olive Oil Cake- strawberry, rosé, lime curd, basil gelato. Wow! Oh wow! I'm so happy this time around they have some cake options. I love olive oil cake and now to pair with a basil gelato sounds insane right? Holy cow! Soooo good! Not what I was expecting. Strawberry, rose, lime and basil gelato flavor all work well together in this dessert. My fave dessert of the night! TRY IT! 2. Cookies N' cream: narragansett creamery ricotta, chocolate biscotti- yummy! Tasted like an elevated cookies and cream ! We loved our experience! Hopefully when you visit here, you can enjoy it as much as we do year after year. I absolutely love this place. For my main course I had the tonnorelli pasta with a green garlic sauce which is my favorite. Only available during early spring when the garlic is young and green. The flavor is mild not too garlicky with an herbal earthy flavor. One of the best pasta dishes I've had. Dessert was olive oil cake with a minty flavored gelato. Everything is made in house. Service is great, everyone is so welcoming and the vibe so calming . Can't say enough about this place.

Fourth of July weekend was the first time I visited Easton's Beach. This visit was mainly because…read moreit was where my husband and I would begin our spontaneous attempt at the Cliff Walk. We drove down Memorial Blvd from where we were staying in Middletown and then found the beach. There a paid parking lot, but - had we known - there's also street parking if you're lucky or go there early enough during a not heavy season. The beach is a three-quarter mile long strip. You get beautiful views of the ocean and coast. I saw some surfers and families enjoying laying out on the sand. Apparently, there's also an aquarium that is run by a non-profit that's goals is to protect and preserve the Narragansett Bay. Tip: If you're doing the Cliff Walk, you'll walk along the boardwalk on an incline from the paid parking lot. You'll then see signs pointing to where the Cliff Walk begins.
