Came here for an impromptu dinner with coworkers since we were staying across the street at Hammetts Hotel, which unfortunately didn't have a restaurant on-site. The restaurant was packed, and since we didn't have a reservation, we ended up sitting in the bar area. Honestly, that wasn't a bad thing--the views of the sunset and the wharf were beautiful. The drinks came out quickly, although my cocktail had way too much citrus. The oysters arrived next, and they were fresh and delicious, so we were all feeling pretty good about the meal and looking forward to our entrées. Unfortunately, that's where things went downhill. We waited an entire hour for our entrées to arrive, and the waitstaff wasn't very forthcoming with updates. We had to track someone down anytime we had a question or needed something, which became very frustrating. Once the food finally arrived, it was disappointing. Several of the dishes were extremely salty. I ordered the swordfish, which was slightly overcooked, and the vegetables were overwhelmingly acidic, as if an entire bottle of vinegar had been poured over them. They were also topped with a generous amount of capers, making the dish even saltier. Overall, it just wasn't enjoyable. I mentioned my concerns to our waitress, but unfortunately, she didn't seem particularly concerned. Hopefully, she passed the feedback along to the chef so some adjustments can be made. The beautiful waterfront setting and fresh oysters were definitely highlights which gained a star here but unfortunately, the long wait, lack of communication, and disappointing entrées overshadowed the experience. read more

Every time we come here the service is excellent and the food is amazing. This is what we come for right? Outstanding food and service! This year was no different than the other years and I love how the menu continues to evolve and change and everything that comes to life from the menu to the table is well thought out and bursting with harmonious blends of flavor. The presentation is gorgeous too! Plating is also important and they nail it! Okay let's gooooo! Come join our dining experience! We tried a bit of everything! We loved every bit of it. I'll mention my faves but that doesn't take away how hard it was to choose a fave! Everything was DELICIOUS ! Raw bar: Jamestown oysters . We had 10. We can't get enough east coast oysters. We live in the west side and I cannot say enough how much better oysters are on east coast! Slurp ! Mmm! Snacks: 1. Shartner's Farm Carrots: pea green pesto, pine nut, n'duja . If you're a meat, potato and pasta person and try to avoid your veggies, don't do that here. GET IT! It's such a great melody of textures and flavors that pair well. It doesn't feel like you are eating carrots and regardless it's a very dressed up bougie delicious carrot plate ! Mmmm . One of my faves out of the snacks. 2. Narragansett Creamery Burrata: green strawberry, speck, basil. Creamy, vibrant and just delicious Pasta: only had room in our tummies for 1 but every year we try different pastas and never disappoints. This year no exception. Maltagliati- hopkins southdowns lamb sugo, swiss chard, harissa, umbrian chickpea. Excellent! Pasta was perfect texture and consistency!! Little touch of spice from harissa which I loved (not overpowering). The Swiss chard was cooked to a crispy texture which I loved. I was a bit nervous about the lamb because it really can vary from place to place. However, I should have known better being from here they cooked/braised it to perfection: melt in your mouth type of soft and no weird or gamey taste. Definitely delicious pasta I recommend. Plates: 1. Duck Leg Confit- japanese turnip, spigariello kale, huckleberry conserva, duck jus. Personally my faves of the two plates but both delicious. The crispy skin from the duck and tender flavorful duck meat was just to die for. Loooooved. Plus the turnips and the amazing huckleberry conserva! Thinking about it makes my mouth water. So so good. 2. Beef Short Rib-swiss chard erbazzone, sunchoke, hazelnut. Loved it. Tasty as expected. Great flavor and tender. Dessert: 1. Olive Oil Cake- strawberry, rosé, lime curd, basil gelato. Wow! Oh wow! I'm so happy this time around they have some cake options. I love olive oil cake and now to pair with a basil gelato sounds insane right? Holy cow! Soooo good! Not what I was expecting. Strawberry, rose, lime and basil gelato flavor all work well together in this dessert. My fave dessert of the night! TRY IT! 2. Cookies N' cream: narragansett creamery ricotta, chocolate biscotti- yummy! Tasted like an elevated cookies and cream ! We loved our experience! Hopefully when you visit here, you can enjoy it as much as we do year after year. I absolutely love this place. Went for a late lunch at Giusto for my wife's birthday, and we had a great experience. The atmosphere is really nice-chic, modern decor, and the location right on the wharf really makes it. My wife and daughter said the cocktails were excellent. I didn't have one, but I'll trust them on that .The staff was on point and really helped make the whole experience feel special. The highlight of the menu for me was the Scotch egg with an Italian twist. I wasn't sure what to expect from the combination, but the execution was excellent and it really surprised me. We all loved the garganelli with Wild Harmony Farm pork ragù , just perfect. The calamari salad was divine as well. We finished with the olive oil cake and were delicious, although probably the least memorable part of the meal. Overall, beautiful atmosphere, great service, and some really creative, well-executed food. Definitely a great spot for a special lunch or dinner. read more

There was no sign that staged a price I arrived and was seated quickly I had booked a patio yet was not seated in the outdoor area I browsed the menu asked many questions the scallops were served with snail the lamb was a lamb sausage We both decided on chicken Milanese We ordered a lemon drop and it came in a gimlet glass not martini less alcohol also no sugar rim It also had no kick whatsoever mine was vodka and hers was gin The Milanese arrived and it was over fried dry difficult to cut and I had to ask for more sauce because I could barely swallow it The arugula was soggy dressing was OK The meal came to $98 This was perhaps one of the worst meals I have had in my 74 yr old life The saving grace in it all was the absolutely lovely waitress who made this painful meal easier to endure I will NEVER return read more

I went for my birthday dinner, and my family enjoyed almost everything. For the most part the food was exceptional and there were plenty of vegetarian options! We started with a delicious summer salad of roasted peaches and tomatoes in a vinaigrette with almonds, some baked eggplant dish, scotch meatballs and fried ricotta with truffle honey. Bread comes out with the pastas which I wished I had with the aps, but that's fine. My street corn ravioli was amazing...however, I called ahead of time to confirm what I could eat because I'm allergic to peppers and then I reiterated this with our waiter. Unfortunately, my dish came out with some sort of red pepper sprinkled on top which I thankfully noticed and it had to be remade, so my dinner didn't get served until everyone else finished. We also ordered a corn "budino" for dessert which didn't taste at all like corn and was like a dry bread pudding so we only took one bite. Another great dining experience at Giustos. I have to admit this is one of my favorite restaurants on the island. The food; amazing, the flavors amazing. I tried the Cacio de pepe fried potatoes and they were so good. Beautifully fried and the potatoes texture were light and pleasantly dried. For my main course I had the tonnorelli pasta with a green garlic sauce which is my favorite. Only available during early spring when the garlic is young and green. The flavor is mild not too garlicky with an herbal earthy flavor. One of the best pasta dishes I've had. Dessert was olive oil cake with a minty flavored gelato. Everything is made in house. Service is great, everyone is so welcoming and the vibe so calming . Can't say enough about this place. read more

We stumbled upon this restaurant due to the fact that it was primetime and a lot of of the restaurants had a much longer wait . We started out with the crustini which was delicious. But our two of main pasta dishes both $30 plus were not worth the money. One (the rigatoni) was way over salted and over seasoned. The other the (garganelli) tasted like a pasta dish I make at home. I must say the service was fantastic and have no complaints. But it's called an Italian restaurant which really should be labeled as a fusion restaurant. The polenta bites with mushrooms and cheese were very tasty, and the shrimp was fresh with a tangy cocktail sauce. Had a lunch reservation, we requested to be sat at an outside table closer to the bar and we were told that could not be accommodated as the tables are assigned electronically and could not change. One of the most amazing meals I've had in a long time. Some of the Newport restaurants rely on the ocean views or ambiance but Giusto has all of this and the freshest, most delicious food we've had. We are locals who stopped in by chance and tried out the chefs tasting menu. I am usually a picky eater so I was a bit nervous but every dish and every bite was so perfectly balanced and made with the highest quality ingredients! This was truly one of the most delicious meals we've had in a long time. The service was phenomenal and the waiter even suggested a wine pairing different from the one that I ordered and he was absolutely right! The bar staff created unique and innovative cocktails! I can't believe it took us so long to dine here. This is hands down the best food I've had in a very long time. Ambiance 10/10, service 10/10 and food 100/10. The street corn ravioli was out of this world. I also tried the peach & prosciutto bruschetta which was savory & sweet and just sooo good. She was very patient with my indecision around what to drink... and allowed tastings and suggestions. Very nice looking restaurant with a wonderful view of the connected harbor. We waited 50 minutes for our pasta to come out (and were still waiting for the rest of our orders) -- not exactly the experience you want for an anniversary dinner with two babies. That's a long time to keep little ones entertained. The staff offered an "apology" cheese ball, which ended up becoming our son's dinner while we kept waiting for his pasta. Split the tuna tartare, so bright and pretty with a green goddess theme and toasted quinoa. Then the suppli al telefono, fried and filled the warm runny cheese. Delicious! Took a day trip to Newport to celebrate our anniversary and was excited to try Giusto's tasting menu! We made reservations for an early dinner on a Saturday and it was already pretty lively. We were seated in the covered patio with a nice view of the water. It was a lovely space away from the busyness of the main dining area, but the sun was pretty strong at times. The different courses came out at a good pace, with my favorite being the pasta. They also surprised us with complimentary mocktails for our anniversary, which was sweet of them.
