We used Rose Landscapes to replace our existing ~700 sq ft patio with a paver patio. Our existing patio was a mess following years of neglect, but Rose Landscapes did a fantastic job with the replacement and we could not be happier with the result. Chris Rose, the owner, and his team were meticulous in every phase of the project. While other companies spent a few minutes taking a couple of measurements before delivering a quote 2-3 weeks later, Chris spent a couple of hours talking with us about the project and took detailed measurements before delivering a quote just a couple of days later. The installation process was exactly the same way. Chris and his time consistently made sure that every dimension of the project was exactly right and delivered exactly what they promised for the price that they promised. Chris was consistently here to monitor the work being done, walked through the final result with us, and was easily reachable and responded quickly to any questions that we had. We dragged our feet getting this work done because it was hard to know what contractors we could trust to do the work correctly and reliably. Super excited about my new landscaping! Chris listened to my ideas and the reasons for them, improved on them and crafted them into a beautiful reality. 20yrs ago I used Rose Landscapes to solve a serious drainage problem along the side of my house. Instead of installing a simple drain, they suggested a pavestone walkway that would carry the water to the natural drainage easement at the back of the property. That walkway is still in great shape and works perfectly after all these years so, naturally, when I decided what I wanted in the front yard I called Rose Landscapes again! Chris met with me on a Saturday and spent several hours discussing the various aspects of the project, measuring, taking detailed notes and making a sketch for his reference. I am unable to work at ground level anymore so I was asking for a pavestone "patio" that runs across the front of the house where I could have large planters which could be easily maintained. I also wanted an additional paved section on the side of the house for storing the large rolling trash/recycle bins with a custom-built wood screen around them. Because I had waited until the busy spring season to contact Chris, it did take awhile for the landscape design to be completed (which he warned me about up front). After further discussion & making a few design changes, Chris met me at a nursery and suggested the shapes, sizes and styles of planters which would look amazing (including 2 volcanic ash urns & a low bowl which are stunning)! He also found some incredible granite benches we could use as a small seating area. Once the work started, it took a little over a week to complete everything. The project included 500sq ft of pavers with 18ft of support wall, sprinkler moves/repairs on a 25yr old system, custom-built trash/recycle screen, delivery and placement of 3 benches and 15 large planters with enriched soil and a new drip zone. Chris is extremely creative and easy to work with. He kept me informed at each stage of the process, prioritized all follow-ups with the various crews and generally delivered an incredibly beautiful product which I know will last for years! Chris visited our house on Saturday, July 7th. He promised a pencil sketch of his plan with pricing and plants to be used. He said he would deliver it on Sunday, July 8th or Monday, July 9th. He cashed our $300 check on July 8th. After not hearing anything back, I called Rose Landscape on Thursday, July 11th stating my concern that the product wad not delivered on time. I was contacted back by woman on Friday, July 12th stating Chris was busy on a job in Frisco and would have it to me by the latest by Monday, July 15th or contact him on Wednesday, July 17th if I had not heard from him on Monday. On Wednesday, July 17th (10 days past the deadline), I called and left a message that I wanted my money back since the product had not been delivered when promised. I stated I would contact the BBB if they did not return our money. After this call, Chris sent me the pencil drawing and stated that my message was abusive and aggressive (though no foul or mean language was used, I just stated since I had not received the product was delivered when promised and that I was contacting Better Business Bureau) and stated here was my product and he would no longer work with me; therefore, rendering the product useless. Simple communication with us would have remedied all of this. We thought he had run off with our money and that we were getting the runaround. If he had spent 5 minutes crafting an email to say he apologized and here was a realistic completion date and then got to us the rendering on that date, we would have been fine. Simple, good customer service goes a long way and unfortunately, that didn't happen...disappointed and $300 short. read more

We've been in our house a little over five years and we'd been making do with two postage stamp-sized extensions of the foundation outside the back doors acting as patios. There was barely room for a table and chairs and minimal room for the grill. Our other big problem was that the back of our house faces west, and every afternoon in the summer the sun would beat mercilessly on our windows and those tiny patio areas. Grilling and just stepping out the back door was painful in the heat of the afternoon sun. Rose Landscapes to the rescue! Earlier this year we had four companies come out to review what we were interested in doing and to provide a bid. Chris Rose (owner) was the only one who spent real time (like hours) with us up front to understand just what we were looking for. The others either spent minimal time and submitted a bid twice that of Chris', or could not prepare a bid without doing a design and us paying for it (I can understand the need for this in a way, but how do I know if I want to hire you if you can't tell me what the job is going to cost?? The design from one company was going to be about $500!). Chris started doing sketches while we talked and prepared an actual plan while he was working on the bid (we got a copy after we committed). Anyway, they were able to start work just a couple weeks after we approved the plans (we got our job started while some other people were making design changes and/or dicking around with their HOAs, which, thankfully, we don't have). Chris said the work would take about a month, which I thought was an amazingly short amount of time. He subs out some of the work, but only for things like arbors and irrigation (and maybe some other things we didn't need). Rose Landscapes does all the work for retaining walls, patios and walkways, driveways, water features, outdoor kitchens, and other things (take a look at his web site). The total job actually took five weeks, but that was still amazing. You hear those nightmares about renovations taking months while the contractor goes off and is doing other jobs and never seems to be able to get back to yours. The really great thing about Rose Landscapes is that they are a small company (at least for now) and do one job at a time. And Chris works shoulder to shoulder with his crew to make sure everything is perfect. Chris and his team were professional and on time every day. And they worked long hours each day (like about 8:30 - 5). In a nutshell, our back yard looks great! It's even better than I imagined it would be. We have a real patio (done with Pavestone Venetian Stone) with walkways to the sides of the house. We had the original brick retaining walls replaced with moss boulders and have new boulder steps leading down to the pool area. We also had them plant the bedding areas and Chris did a great job choosing the plants for those (one could be more involved in that process, but we asked him to just choose things he thought would do well). The company Chris uses to build arbors also did a fantastic job. The arbors look great and we now don't have to close the blinds on our west facing windows all afternoon every afternoon - it's really nice not living in a cave anymore! Plus we can go outside and grill in the evenings without the sun beating us down. I highly recommend Rose Landscapes and plan to use them again. PS - Don't wait until spring to start a landscaping design process or you'll be competing for time with everyone else. read more

For years we've had a relatively small back yard patio and always intended to add a bigger patio for a more inviting, enjoyable, usable outdoor living space. Recently, we decided to take that step and, after a lot of online research, chose to reach out to Chris Rose. He came to meet with us, see our back yard, listen to our ideas about what we wanted, and share his ideas and suggestions. Rose Landscapes installed over $18,000 in landscaping at my home in June 2009. The stone work was well done, but the landscape plantings were a severe disappintment. About 25% of them died within the first 90 days. Even worse, the owner refused to replace the dead ones as his proposal stated, said he would plant the replacements if I paid for the plants!
