Owners son very dishonest. Was caught on my Arlo camera telling work foreman that he added $1,600 to my bill for removal of sprinklers before pouring slabs. ( I had pool redone and new decking poured) . I didn't have Sprinklers,they didn't exist and he knew that . When foreman told him that, he laughed and said he knew but not to tell us (owners). Foreman responded saying "oh, your cheating"? He said "yes". And laughed. I have it all on video. They also spaced my concrete slab squares 9inches when I asked for 6 inches. Saving on concrete and their profits but making it harder to step from one square slab to another. I should have gotten a bar-b-quer for free but never did. . More money in their pocket. Very dishonest. They never came to me to make things right, if they would, I would gladly rewrite this review. But still. Never heard from them. read more

We got ignored by the Owner's son, Tyler (I think he is supposed to be a salesman? Idk) After weeeeeks of us trying to get a hold of him to get a quote he answered his phone and said "oh sorrry I've been under a lot of stress and my phone is a little spotty" oh ok... We were willing to drop a lot of money on the project. But thank god we saw how he handles business. My neighbor recommended him but even my neighbor can't get a hold of him anymore. Talk about sketchy pool companies. Probably should've read their reviews before ever letting them into our home. SMH. read more

If you are concerned about details, BMR is the way to go. They include the details in your build that you do not even consider, that other pool companies do not plan for nor include. We have watched 3 pools going up in our neighborhood at the same time, 3 different companies, one did not include sod after ripping up the yard, one had subpar pool equipment installed. BMR really took care of us, even after unexpected COVID delays, completed the project before the expected timeline! There are many pool companies out there, but do your homework! We started our process in February '21 and weren't able to break ground until July '21. There of course were quite a few delays and the initial communication (from the office/scheduler) could have been better but our site manager Donaven would always keep us updated as best as possible. With construction there are always issues and things come up, but the BMR team took care of the issues and went above and beyond to make things right. We finished at the end of October. We couldn't be happier with the pool now that we're finally able to use it. We have had a few small warranty calls and the communication on those was excellent! We had several quotes for our pool and patio. BMR was the best priced (for the same exact pool, equipment, etc... as other pool companies were quoting us). We had a BMR rep come out to our house to discuss plans and get a quote. He was "excited" to be working with us....after he left we never heard from him again. A friend of ours used BMR and was very happy. When we told our friend how the BMR rep never got back to us (and we were moving on to another pool builder), he told us to call his BMR rep. We did and the experience was night and day. This recommended BMR rep was awesome and I do mean awesome! We had our pool and deck (pavers) built and they did an absolutely beautiful job. Complete time wasters. I called and set an appointment to get an estimate for a covered patio. I planned my day around that appt and the morning of the appt I got a text msg from Huner the morning of the appt (appt was at 2.30pm) saying he couldn't make it because of the rain and wanted to reschedule. I told him I wasn't available the other day he wanted to come out and I preferred he kept the appt. He said he couldn't because of the rain. The appt was several hours later and was supposed to stop by then but he still didn't want to keep the appt. When the appt time came it had long stopped raining. I will never call BMR again for anything. read more

Complete waste of time. The salesman insisted that we drive 30 minutes each way to meet with him before he would be willing to share our pool design with us. He wouldn't email it or come to us. He kept talking about how busy he is. Despite thinking it's rather odd for someone trying to earn our business for an expensive pool to behave this way, we agreed to come by his office. When we arrived on time for our appointment, he kept us waiting in the lobby with our two-year-old for more than 20 minutes. As many of you may know, watching a toddler in a waiting area during the Covid pandemic is not fun. The salesman didn't even pop his head out to apologize or explain. The receptionist just said he'd be with us when he finishes up with someone else. While we were waiting, a BMR customer came in and informed the receptionist that he had had a BMR pool installed recently. He said that he had called two times to inform BMR that there was flooding in his yard caused by a broken pipe, but no one had called him back. He was forced to come in to their offices to try to get someone to come out and fix this urgent problem. We decided to leave. 25 minutes after our scheduled appointment time, the salesman called us and left a voicemail. He later emailed us and said, "Sorry you couldn't wait a few minutes." In other words, after rudely wasting our time, he criticized us for not waiting longer than we did. In his email, he finally attached his designs for our pool. They were atrocious. Nothing like what we described to him and substantially poorer quality than what we received from BMR's competitors. Of course, they were also more than 25% above our budget. In response, I wrote, "Thanks. We've decided to work with another builder. Take care." His response was, yet again, rude. He wrote, "I think that's a great idea. Good luck to ya." Needless to say, we would not recommend BMR Pool and Patio. read more

I am so thankful BMR Pool and Patio never called me back after an onsite consultation. I wasted my time sending over my home survey, showing pictures and descriptions of what I wanted and setup follow-up steps. "T" promised to follow-up with an estimate and was "excited" about our project. I never heard back despite my emails asking for an update. I am not upset, it was a blessing to not hear back from these guys especially after reading the other reviews and having decided to sell and buy a bigger house with a finished backyard oasis. We have several projects in our backyard that need to be done - patio, retaining wall, water feature, etc. - quite a bit of work. We had BMR out to the house to provide an estimate for which we were told they had to have a copy of our home survey to do (and we provided it when he got here). Mason Thane met with my husband to discuss the projects and we never heard from the company again. After several emails with no response, I look at it as a good thing - if the company is not conscientious enough to provide a promised quote or return an email or phone call, then I have absolutely no faith in their work ethic. I just wished they hadn't wasted OUR time as we could have set up another company to come out during that time slot as we have to take off work to meet with contractors. read more

Had an appointment with Tyler, the day of the appointment he called asking to reschedule because it was his birthday and he wanted to play golf and "he didn't know there was an appointment on his calendar". We rescheduled for the next day. The next day he again, called day of and asked to reschedule saying he was sick. By this point we were frustrated, called the office and they were no help. I absolutely recommend BMR Pool & Patio. Josh, my salesman, was very responsive to my request for my pool. The quick turnaround time on getting a design and quote was phenomenal. He even did more than one design to show me different options for my backyard. Having someone listen to what you want and implementing that into the design is a big deal and that is exactly what Josh did. Other local companies designed what they wanted and came in way over my asking budget. Tanner, the superintendent, was very professional and helpful throughout the process. He quickly addressed all my questions either by a phone call, text, or stopping by to talk and was amazing at keeping me informed with updates. He would often stop by to check on the crews and make sure everything was done on time and correctly. The crews were always polite and nice to talk. I would not hesitate to call BRM Pool & Patio if I ever build another pool. read more

Pools was completed, for the most part, with few issues. After completion of the pool we were asked to put together a "punch list" of things we wanted fixed. This list included cracked tiles, white residue seepage, and shoddy stone work in some areas. That list has been ignored for nearly 8 weeks now. I've emailed and called BMR to see if we still existed to them. They will give us lip service about having people come out to address our issues... but it hasn't happened yet with these three "punch list" items. The unspoken message I'm getting from them is that they decide when your pool is done... not the guy paying $40,000. read more

Very disappointing customer service. BMR build my pool end of 2017 and what I can tell is that pre-sale service is ok until they start building the pool. 1)They found an error in the project where they made a mistake in the height of a retaining wall. They said I had to pay for the difference and it was not their responsibility. The difference was not cheap, of course... 2) Due to lack of proper supervision of the construction, they made another big mistake on the shape of the pool when they applied the granite. They had to put down part of the wall and re-do it. Project was delayed. 3) NO SUPERVISION DURING CONSTRUCTION: Several of the city inspections failed (more than 70%). And it failed for basic things. You expect that the "Supervisor" will do a quality control and check before the city comes, right? Not in this case. This led to another delay. 4) The deck surrounding the pool was not what I asked for. BMR apologized but never solved my problem. They mentioned they would send somebody to see what could be done, but never came back. 5) At the final stages of the project, I noticed that half of my yard was missing grass. I contacted BMR to see if they could apply the remaining grass. The answer was of course NO. I even told them I could pay for it. They said it was not their responsibility and the contract only had 1 pallet of grass. I have called and send emails to BMR with no response from the owner who promised me to help me fix the issues. If you are expecting high qualified professionals, great customer service, support during and after construction. DON'T use BMR. Looks like they are just interested in making money not Customer satisfaction. read more

Working with BMR started off well but then the "project manager" never showed up and it went downhill from there. We started working with them in December and in March they were still trying to obtain a permit from the city (costing us an extra $350). Long story short, I pulled the contract from them and stopped by the city who confirmed no permit is needed. Apparently, the docs that BMR submitted "caused concern". I contacted another well known company and within ONE WEEK our patio is complete and GORGEOUS. By the way, the exact same job was 28% cheaper than what BMR estimated. read more

We've known these guys since they worked out of a single axle trailer building arbors on their days off from the Lewisville Fire Dept. in 1996. Everything was great until we had an issue. The issue seemed as if it was a problem they could easily fix or at least help us with. Oh boy were we shocked!! After the pool, patio, and, outside kitchen was completed and ready to use we soon realized we had been misled. We were told that once the outside kitchen counter was sealed it would be stain proof. Well, not so much. We contacted BMR and were told that they would come out and reseal with a stronger sealant (ummm...maybe this would have been good the first time around?) We thought our problem was fixed but after using the counter and cooking on the grill we could tell it was in NO WAY STAIN RESISTANT AS WE HAD BEEN TOLD. I called Rick, explained our situation, and NEVER HEARD BACK FROM HIM! All in all BMR did a good job with designing the pool, installation, clean up. However, as I said on my voicemail to Rick, I would like him to come and see the counters (which look awful now) for himself. He would not accept this for his own house, his best customer's house, so why us? Stain resistant means stain resistant. Rachael grossly misrepresented what we would get to make a sale. Hopefully, something can be done to make matters right. Mason, one of the owners made well on the situation. Very pleased. read more

Had a covered patio built 6 yrs ago. Stone work is falling apart. Our $1500 built in grill is completely rusted out and needs to be replaced because of the workmanship on the roof. The roof and beams were completely built wrong causing water to pour directly into the grill. The work is so bad that gutters can't be attached to it. We had Mason come out to fix it and he has ignored our request and does not return phone calls. Very disappointed!!! read more

I can't really comment on their work or product because we can never get them to call us back on inquiries or meet for their scheduled appointments. We stopped by their office to hopefully meet a designer to come up with something for our backyard. None were available so we set up an appointment with a desiger for Dec 10th. On the day before the appointment, we get a call from the office telling us that Jim would not be able to make it due to an emergency and that they would rescheduled for 1000 hrs on Dec 17th. The appointment time came and gone so we called the office to find out Jim's status and they had no idea what we were talking about. After a brief conversation with the receptionist we asked that a manager call us on Monday, 19 Dec, after 1700 hours to see if we can resolve this. The called but it was at 1530 hours and by the time we called back the office was closed. We stopped by this morning to set up another appointment and after fidgeting in her computer for a few minutes they had no record of us. We told we appreciated her help and let her know that it is obvious that they do not want to work on our yard for some reason unknown to us. We did everything they asked to include dropping off 2 plats of our yard along with contact information. They never called back. I just hope that their work is better than their customer service. read more

I threw $35K out the window when I agreed to have my back yard transformed. The pebbletec delaminated from the pool, the deck overlay wore off and the outdoor kitchen cracked and was built about 3" out of square over 6 feet. I complained and complained. Nothing was resolved and I am currently have a complaint in with the BBB. Buyer be ware. read more

We just finished our pool and spa build with BMR and couldn't be happier. Our main concern was drainage because the water run off during a good rain would run straight through the middle of our backyard into a creek. Sam was our sales person and she addressed the issue by building an elevated pool plus a drainage system. We had a couple of issues come up during the build, however they were addressed immediately, and at no additional cost to us. During the build I met one of the owners, Mason, as he came out to address one of my concerns (which I greatly appreciated). I met the second owner, Rick, at the end of the build as he came to see the pool and thank me for my business. Every question I had was addressed promptly via email by Heather, a true rockstar in my book. We looked at several companies before choosing BMR. With the huge expense of building a pool, we didn't want to go with a low bid company, we wanted an established, local, family owned company who took pride in their workmanship and customer satisfaction. Brick Mortar Rental is what the name should stand for. They built a patio with a fireplace, pool, and outdoor kitchen on my house in 2006. Little did I know it would fall apart and become a safety and liability hazard in less than 10 years. I guess the fireplace was not built on the proper foundation and has since separated from the house and leaned back more than 6 inches because it is sinking. How hard is it to pour the needed supports for a fireplace? I had one of the BMR owners, Mike, out and he said he wasn't sure why they still built fireplace because they always seem to have foundation issues with them. I contacted 7 foundation companies to quote on the repairs and 3 would not even provide a quote out of concern for their crew's safety and liability. I then had another owner, Rick, out to see and without hesitation he arranged for a crew to come out the next day and demolition the top 8 ft because of the safety and liability issues. (Nothing like 3 tons of stone leaning backwards into your neighbors yard and where your kids play). He said we need to get this handled quickly because if it falls then it would be an insurance company field day suing everyone involved. (I agree). The next day the demo was done and now I have a stone fireplace with no stack and it is unusable. I have been in discussion with them for a few months trying to determine what course of action to take- rebuild, tear down, etc. Finally, Rick stated that it wasn't under warranty and they were just trying to do me a favor and that we have nothing more to talk about. A favor, like charging $10k for a disposable fireplace that can't be used and now not having the integrity and conscience to stand by your work. No thanks for the favor. Oh did I mention that the stone is also too heavy for the foundation that supports my outdoor kitchen and counter tops and it has pulled away from the house and is 2 inches below original build height and still moving? Oh wait, did I also mention the fact that they installed a drain to move water from the patio to the yard that won't drain because it is below the area that it should drain to? (I guess some basic knowledge of physics applies here). Unfortunately, I started looking at online reviews and dissatisfaction with BMR isn't an uncommon occurrence. Fortunately I have a flexible job and have plenty of time to spread my message to others who desire an outdoor living space and maybe save them time, money, and hassle so hopefully they can enjoy what they pay for and not get a disposable outdoor area like mine. $40k in outdoor living space unused all winter... read more
