Having just moved to the area from Lincoln Park I've been looking for a good nail salon. I've been to Rose's two or three times and it is by far the best salon in the area: Rose is very nice, she greets you and makes you feel welcome. All the techs that I have had have been very good. Even like the massage chairs and TV going. Price is reasonable for the quality. The ONLY thing that I dislike (and I've noticed that alot of the salons in this area do this as well) is that after they massage all that nice lotion into your hands, they tell you to go wash your hands. I can't stand that. For one, it interrupts my relaxation and second, it washes all the lotion off. I find myself grabbing lotion on as soon as I get home because my hands are dry. The exceptional nail salons use a wet cloth and polish remover to get the lotion off just your nails, leaving your hands feeling soft and silky and smelling yummy. If Rose's salon didn't make you wash all the lotion off your hands, it would be on my list of exceptional salons! But I would still go back at the last minute, I'd just be sure to bring a bottle of lotion with me to reapply after the manicure. read more

Oh hell yes. This place was an easy choice for me since it's on the way to my parent's house. My husband dropped me off (I was a walk-in), returned a bathing suit at the Land's End down the way, and came back and I was ready. They are timely, efficient, precise, and CHEAP AS HELL. My pedicure was $20 or $25 - I can't remember but I can tell you it lasted for over a month with compliments leading up to the last week. Although compliments on toe nails are strange - I'll take them. They have a parking lot if that's a concern. No foot razor either - yay. I'm a big fan of this place with only one exception - the overuse of the damn massage chair. If I turn it off, it's because I don't like the hard plastic ball rolling down my back. My friend has been going here for a long time and after dinner at a place right down the street, we came here for a little pampering. The place was hopping but upon entering, the technicians said hello and they even know my friend by name! She got a mani/pedi and I only got a mani. I was able to sit next to my friend during her pedicure and use the massage chair while chatting. When a technician was available for my manicure, I got one of the most detailed manicures I've had in a while. She took her time but it didn't feel long. I picked out OPI Mrs. O'Leery's BBQ and I love the color. The cost? $10. You can not beat that price and hospitality. I saw positive reviews on yelp so I decided I'd try this place out. I have to say it was one of the worst experiences I've ever had and I've been doing acrylic nails for over 5 years. The ladies are incredibly sweet, but I was not pleased with how my nails turned out. Two of my nails turned out crooked, one nail is incredibly shorter than the rest, and it took over an hour and a half to do an acrylic fill which is twice as long as usual. Worst experience ever! I went there for a polish change on my toes and a manicure. It took a total of 15 minutes for both! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! The girl didn't ask me what I wanted (shape or length) and cut my toes nails so short that they hurt. During my manicure she pushed my cuticles back with this sharp tool and cut me more than once... never apologized I should say. My hand massage was not even 30 seconds long (and let's be honest I can paint my own nails the reason we go get our nails done is to relax a bit) So upset with this place I will NOT be back.. Lee Nails is down the street and they give you a hot towel, a nice long massage, and a MUCH cleaner atmosphere. If you do choose to go to this place do not see the younger girl there see one of the older ladies they seemed much friendlier! Needless to say I left with sore toe nails, scraped up finger, cuts on my fingers, a very sour attitude towards this place. Choose somewhere else. read more

Rose, the owner, is very friendly but is the worst nail technician I've ever ever had. Over the years, she has burnt me several times because she files my nails so hard. I've always wanted her other employees to do my nails but she had them do the feet while she does the acrylics . The other nail technicians are great but Rose is so bad. She doesn't care that she had hurt you even after u had told her. She didn't even offer a discount or anything even after you had been bleeding from a cut on your skin that she made from filing. I was afraid of infection because she had cut my skin a few times already. My nails lifted after one week because she didn't do it right. When nails are lifted, they are prone to bacteria and infection. She should retire and let others do the work. Rose, u are very friendly but please leave the work to your employees. One of these days you will cause someone to have gangrene and have their arm amputated because of infection. Let your employees do the work. They are great! read more

What a wonderful find! I am a very low maintenance gal...only had 2 manicures and pedicures in my life. Had a 40th reunion, needed to step it up a bit. Walked in to a beautiful and CLEAN salon and was greeted by Rose. Within a minute I was sitting in the most comfortable massage chair with my tootsies soaking in a small whirlpool basin...the lady who did my pedicure didn't speak much which was ok...I looked through magazines and just relaxed ..... she did a wonderful job... I enjoyed every minute! I am going to make it a point to go on a semi-regular basis when I have an occasion or just feel the need for some pampering! The prices are so low that I think I'll upgrade my status from low to moderate maintenance from now on! read more

So I was looking for something close to home to get a quick pedicure because I was in desperate need, but also a little sick. I checked yelp and this seemed to be the place! My toes look great($25) and when I started to have a coughing fit, the technician (whose name I will get next time) told me to keep coughing it will make you feel better. How nice! Then as I was leaving, Rosie(who I think is a manger/owner) asked me again if I wanted a manicure. I didn't, once they chip I will pick all of the color off making it a waste. I saw a sign for a type of no-chip that claimed to be gentle on the nails, I said maybe I would do that next time. Rosie told me that all no-chip are the same, and that I was better off just getting a manicure(which is the cheaper option anyhow). Then she looked at my nails and said that she just needed to file them because this was her job and my nails hurt her eyes, so she did just that, for no charge! I love coming to Rose's with my daughter for mani's and pedi's. Rose's has outstanding customer service and their work is excellent. All of the ladies that we have had for pedicures are great. For my manicures, I really love Anhtwan's work. My nails look so good when he is done. My daughter has had a few of the other ladies do her manicures and she has been very happy. I had a walk-in visit to Rose's last Saturday afternoon and it was terrific. Although they were busy when I came, Rosie introduced herself to me right away and made sure I was comfortable while I awaited my pedicure. She did a lovely job on my toes and feet, even saving me money when I asked for a "no chip" and she explained that I probably didn't need one for my feet. She was very flexible about the color when I changed my mind (prior to application), and very warm an welcoming in general. I love the color I ended up with and my toes look great. As more people arrived, both walk-ins and appointments, she was kind and courteous with everyone and it seemed like we all got served relatively quickly, considering how busy they were. The salon is very clean, and they had the TNT movie channel on, which was fine with me. I was not disappointed. I had Kim doing my mani and pedi. I was pleasantly surprised at how she was working on cleaning cuticles and filing my nails. She didn't not apply polish ideally but overall she did a good job. I would definely come back. The salon looks very clean, they sanitize all tools and I found their pedi station very comfy, although my massage action was a bit rough for a first minutes of use. This salon is impressively clean and well maintained. The owner is a sweet and very hard working woman who wants everyone to be satisfied. She will redo your nails if you are not happy. Also, if you mess up your nails afterwards, she will fix the problem at no extra cost. I have been there when someone called from home to say that she messed up her nails, and Rose told her to come back and to have it fixed. I get the gel nails(suggested because I'm a biter), and they always look great. The operators are all all quite professional, and I've never had a problem. I went to Rose's Nails for a pedicure at the beginning of the summer. I don't often get a pedicure and just casually mentioned this to the girl that was working on me. When she put my feet near the drier at the end of the pedicure....she left me there for a good 30 minutes and disappeared to the back room never to reappear. When I finally realized she was upset that I only come once every so often, I looked over at Rose. She said nothing, only "$25"! I paid the $25 and left. I know the pedicure was $20, but why did she charge me $25????....because I only come once in awhile????!!!!
