There's a bridge there's some hiking area there's some asphalt for a riding little tricycles for scooters. They have water fountain picnic tables and even a barbecue. What they didn't do was shade the bench areas. There's no place to sit in the shade if you can't slide on the slides. Trying to watch my granddaughter play but I would have to walk too far away to get shade so that's going to stop me from coming on warm days. There are a few walkers out here. So it's a good place to walk for your health. I'm thinking my daughter will bring the grandkids out here. But I'll only come if it's fairly cool outside.

It's pretty pretty here, very nature-y. Very "am I still in the mid-cities?" There's even steep…read morerocky hills (are they hills? Cliffs?) that make your park experience extra scenic. Tons of big gorgeous trees and plenty plush, green lawns for frolicking, a little babbling stream with a walking trail bridge that goes over it. Like a storybook, for real. Rickel Park has 1.5 miles of walking and jogging trails, a picnic area with tables, a couple pavilions, and a great playground that's relatively shaded. There's nothing particularly novel or modern going on here, but this park actually transports you out of suburbia for a second and into the woods. Especially if it's not too crowded. With the right weather it's honestly so peaceful and enjoyable and feels like you're on a little trip. Bring a picnic and play and hike and enjoy.

Bleh... you know a park has to be pretty bad if its own city doesn't even recognize it…read more I've always known that there was a park-like lot here, but I didn't know that it was really a park till I noticed it on Google Maps one day (I always thought it was an extension of Birdville Stadium). Anyhow, to add this park on Yelp I had to do some research (looking through city maps) and sure enough this park barely belongs to The City of Haltom City (Broadway and 183 are the city lines). First off, I would recommend that you avoid this park (just see the pics). Unless you're into Shot put or open fields (with huge stickers) then the only other activity to do is park here in a car and do whatever suspicious activities you fancy (which seems to be a very, very popular thing to do here). Funny thing is, when I came over there and started taking pictures of the park all 3 parked vehicles that were there took off pretty quickly. LOL Back to the point, I've seen sleeping equipment here from time to time so... you know, there might be a homeless person or two living here too (just saying). The dirt parking area is full of holes / piles of dirt, and has discarded garbage and liquor bottles. Plus the lone picnic table and bleachers are busted to pieces. I don't know what else I can say to sway you from checking this place out, but I do know that this is a sad representation of Haltom City to travelers coming into the town on Hwy 26 and Hwy 10. Maybe one day the city can convert this into some kind of botanical garden, a better park, or sell this lot off for retail use (considering how much traffic goes by this place and some local businesses / tech school being so close by). But till then, just do what Haltom City has done so far... forget about this park.

The review by Russell R. Is not really about Barbrook Park. Barbrook Park has been closed since the…read more80's. It was an old privately owned swimming pool park. The photos shown in the review by Russel R. are from the practice baseball fields for the old high school. The high school is no longer used as a High school and is now an adult education center. The actual Barbrook Park was on the opposite side of the highway. I'm sure that Russel saw the picnic table and assumed it was the park. Barbrook park was a place of great childhood memories. Also, the location shown on google maps is wrong. The correct location for Barbrook park is on the wikimapia link I have listed below. http://wikimapia.org/9663909/Barbrook-Park Russel R. This park certainly lives up to the "Bar" in Barbrook.
