I have to take issue with one reviewer who declared the prices to be "through the roof." That is a totally unfair characterization. A privately owned store will not have the bulk purchasing that G-center will and prices on some items will be slightly higher. I would note, however that Larry's carries some beautiful high-end instruments. (especially Taylors) They also carry a nice selection of more economical instruments. What they DON'T carry is substandard instruments that exist only for their price tags. A guitar that falls apart is no bargain. They also carry a nice selection of quality ukuleles that will last without breaking the bank. (Lanakai) I would like to see them carry some Kamaka ukes someday. Let's not forget Reverend and Deusenberg guitars in the electric department. (standing O for carrying those.) One last comment: Brad is developing a nice inventory of vintage instruments that merit serious consideration. Don't get sucked up by guitar center. BUY LOCAL!

Not only does Mr. Karoll lack the necessary skills to be a good DJ, such as crossfading songs, mixing slow and fast songs effectively, and creating a lively mood, Larry's music selection is disgustingly awful. If you have 12 year old kids, Larry Karoll may be the DJ for you; he only plays music that was popular several years ago, and he sticks to playing "safe" music for your whole party, so people can like the music just enough to stay at the party but not enough to get everyone on the dance floor. Larry's microphone announcements are dry and unfunny, at best. This man obviously owned a computer and some lights and though, "Gee, I think I can be a DJ..." Larry Karoll is awful. Don't waste your time with his services and don't jeopardize your party.

Cali talked us through the process and helped us make an educated decision. We were in and out within 20 minutes. I feel confident in the decisions we made and the money we spent. I found out too late that nearly all of those great reviews on Google are actually for the Music Shoppe which was located on Erie. The previous owner who was mainly the one who fixed woodwinds died in 2021, and Johnny didn't open his own shop until January of 2022, but kept all of the reviews for the other store. I was told by a music store that our flute needed to be repadded. Johnny assured me that he was able to do it, but after over 200 dollars, 4 trips, and several lies later, I would never recommend his services for band instruments. Please do yourself a favor and take them to a store that specializes in band instruments, even if it costs a little more. When we first went to pick up the "completely overhauled" flute, he gushed about how it was "a beast" and how easily his flute teacher was able to play it. My daughter, who is an excellent flutist, was not even able to make it work. In fact, one of the pads completely fell out while we were there! Needless to say, we went home without our flute that day, which meant another trip. The second time, since it did play, we took it home, only to have another pad fall out with the next week, which meant another trip. By the last time we picked up the flute, our "beast" had turned into a "bad horn" that was just old and worn out. We were told in so many words that he couldn't really do any more for us, and don't expect it to last very long. It has not played well since, so my daughter has been using my old flute to get by. Last week, I finally took it to a reputable music shop in Canton. Imagine my shock when I was told that it is a good flute, but the person who put the pads in didn't know what he was doing! I will have to pay to have it completely repadded, meaning that I totally wasted all of that money and time. Hopefully, my experience will save some other customer some frustration!

Finally found myself in Akron with time, so I dragged The Fambly into Guitar Department. Now THIS…read moreis more like it. Every inch of wall has something playable hanging therefrom. Nearly every inch of floor has drums, amps, cabs, amps on top of cabs, cabs on top of OTHER cabs. I had only been in the store about ninety seconds when I overhear a guy nearly buying a Kay Speed Demon guitar. Now just having one to look at is pretty great, but this one was also for sale. You could, given a couple hundred, just walk out with that baby and be cutting a demo before dark. (They really respect the mongrel, here, by which I mean the instrument as well as the customer. Dan "Loving Ohio From a Distance" Auerbach used to wander around the shop hoping to get noticed... I mean "shopping." Yeah, shopping. He's one of those snobbishly anti-snobbery guitar guys, who fetishize the crappy guitars their blues gods played, while playing them through a quarter million dollars worth of effects and electronics.) But enough about success. Found a vintage Fender volume/tone pedal. Well, that just had to go home with me. Bought a couple other things. Time was, there was a great shop like this every ten blocks or so in every city in Uh Murh Cuh Now? "Bro! Just buy that on-line." Right. Buy a guitar, without playing it? Buy an amp, without hearing it? Good luck with that plan, Mr. Malmsteen. They do consignments, too, which is a great way to either upgrade or downgrade your studio, bandroom or man cavity. These guys deserve your business. They sure helped me, and I'll bet they will help you. While we were there, I overheard a drummer, tired from being ridiculed by other musicians, decide to change instruments. Guy goes up to the sales counter and says, "I'll take that red trumpet over there, and that accordion." After a second, the store clerk says ,"OK, you can have the fire extinguisher but the radiator stays."

I purchased a used flute for my…read moredaughter two Christmas ago and it was very reasonably priced ( cheaper than any other music stores in the Canton and North Canton areas) for a ready to play instrument. One competitor want twice as much for a used flute plus it needed minor repairs that was not included in the purchase price. About three months ago my daughter had bent her keys somehow. I took the flute back to Mr. Lazar and he asked me to give him one hour to fix the instrument. I thought it was going to cost me over 100.00. I went back to pick up my daughters flute and the repair only cost me 40.00. I would recommended if you want very good quality used instruments please see Don Lazar Music.
