You have to visit this place…read more A week ago a group of us drove up to Maysville to visit the museum specifically to see the miniatures collection. We were overwhelmed with the quality and size of the museums displays. It's like you were giants in a Twilight Zone movie looking into real tiny houses that's how lifelike they were. The Spencer's House was fantastic. They have a movie playing about the creation of it. There are several rooms full of all sorts of displays. More will be added in the spring of 2024. This is a must see collection. We were also impressed with the other displays in the museum. These were focused on the major historic milestones of Maysville. Also displays of major products produced in that region. I would say we never expected this level of quality and size in a small town museum.

We walked around the house that was once used as a safe house for the underground railroad. So much history the house had. The house was turned into a musuem that included artifacts and exhibits. From upstairs you can see the ohio river where people would cross. even though the tour was just the house, the tour guide gave us pointers on where to go next. If you have time and are in the area continue by going to the rankin house which was also a safe house, you can take a tour their as well. Make sure you do the stairway to freedom!

From what we were told, all of the grape growing, wine making and aging is happening elsewhere. It's a really cool historic site and it's really worth visiting. The wines are about what you'd expect from Midwest wine. They tend to the very sweet end. Get here for a visit - the structure itself is worth seeing. Many of the extra exhibits around the ark are extra money of course. The little zoo was nice. The inside was loaded w/ things to see. If you read it all it would take all day. The photo op at the beginning comes out to about $35. Also, many of the prices in the gift shop was very high. One aspect I thought was kind of odd was the unusual number of dinosaurs displayed in the ark. You would think there were more dinosaurs back then then most of the animals we are familiar with. Maybe it's just a way to attract the kids attention. It would be cool if they had a time-lapse video of the construction, and maybe I missed it. The buffet was definitely worth hitting up. All the food was actually good. I had no complaints and the staff kept most things very fresh. There was plenty of options and many drinks to choose from as well. The desserts were all tasty as well. Donut holes were a kid fave. Tons of seating too.

This is the Mushroom House in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Cincinnati. The amount of detail is really breathtaking: circular steel steps, deck rails of wood shingles, stained glass windows, tiled ceilings... of course, I had to snap some pics. How often do we come to Cin City. The original owner/builder by the name of Terry Brown has passed away in 2008. If you're passing through Cincinnati you have to stop by the Mushroom House. This is the most…read moreunique real house I have ever seen. It is a relatively young house, when it comes to house age. It was started to get built by architect Terry Brown in 1992 and completed in 2006. Terry Brown him self resided in it until his passing in 2008. This house looks like a mushroom from a certain angle, and like an owl from another. It is a fairytale house in the real world. There's so much fine detail, there's no wonder it had taken this genius man 14 years to complete this artistic masterpiece of a home. The spiral orange stair case was chained off not allowing access to the public. There was a car parked in the driveway as well as a surveillance camera. They also had a "no trespassing" sign. The land around, although very minimal is very well groomed and well kept. Something tells me there are people who currently reside here. I don't know how I would feel about living in a home that gets so much attention and that is always being photographed. The Mushroom House is a must see in Cincinnati. He was VERY knowledgeable and very easy to get along with. The length of the tour was perfect and ended with the best part - the underground. I won't spoil it .... but it was VERY COOL.. if you are nerdy like that. Would I go back? Yes, but for a different tour with, hopefully, the same guide.

Who knew it was (the first!) site of vertebrate paleontology in the US? Interestingly, there is also a short hike through a wooded area (5-10 min) that takes you to a mini-zoo-like viewing area for a herd of Bison kept there. They were pretty lethargic on this hot summer day but cute nonetheless. It's at least worth one short visit here -- a worthy investment of ~35 mins from downtown Cincinnati, anyway.

You can spend all day here and not feel like you are seeing everything. Admission is fairly cheap and the collections are interactive, modern and worth every penny. For families needing assistance with children there is so much for them to explore. For those who need mobility assistance, they do have different types of mobility devices able at first come first serve. There are places to eat and have a sensory break if needed. Besides the extremely interactive children's museum, we loved how innovative the transportation museum is. This location being an old train station, made the experience even more interesting. They do rotate some items, but most are here to stay for your next visit.
