Been a patron of Rosemary's Garden for years now. They have anything you need when it comes to alternative therapies and ayurvedic teas and remedies for many different types of ailments. I pretty consistently buy the smoking blend (which is a mix of what I consider to be nighttime teas) to smoke instead of smoking tobacco or cannabis. It's a great alternative blend in you're looking for something to help break a bad habit. The staff is always knowledgeable and quick to help. I loved this place when it was still in its little cupboard under the stairs area. It was comfortable and more free. The new place feels too sterile and too modern. Really reminds me of going into a makeup bar area in a mall from years past. Before, you could go and grab a jar and get what you wanted. Now everything is sealed and packaged. There's sooooo much more in commercial packaging all around. The workers there went from knowing everything to can't even use the cash register or know what or where 'that' is. IMO, every town should have an herb shop. A great place to get your loose herbs along with a variety of premixed blends that are good for everything from menstrual cramps to colds to sleeping well. Much more affordable to get these herb mixes from here than in a tea bag at safeway or whole foods. They have fresh stock and get their herbs from places that treat their employees well. The herbs being fresh is important when looking for the best medicinal properties. When you're able to buy the whole herb and grind yourself, you're going to get a much better end product. I've run my business out of numerous towns and always love going to the local herb store. I've been in this store half a dozen times and every single experience has been unpleasant. Even though there's several staff members standing around or normally gabbing with each other, you still have to wait for a long time to check out even though there is never anyone in front of me. I've had three staff members just fiddle farting around while I stood at the register for 3 minutes until I finally had to ask if anyone was a cashier. Two separate times I've gone in there and because they had to manually type in my card, even after the card was accepted they kept bending it in horrible ways. My card works everywhere but this location and they said that they were allowed to bend it because it cost them more money to manually type my card in. I use the same card management provider is they do, Shopify, I know this was a bold face lie instead of just apologizing for warping my card well beyond what it was before I ever came in there. Even when I asked the girl to stop bending my card she kept bending it. This place is absolutely infuriating, and it's really sad because the rest of Sebastopol is an amazing town. They need to fire half the staff, lower their prices, and learn how to act like they're at work. Looking forward to never having to shop here again. read more

Rosemary's garden is very strange to me. I have been in here a couple times and felt like I am trying to hang out with people who don't like me. Customer service here is lacking....or shall I say non-existent. This is coming from a girl who doesn't wear ankle length skirts or drive a Prisus. Maybe that's the only type of people they like dealing with. What's so sad about Rosemarys to me is that they seem like such a neat place! I wish I could come in and feel comfortable asking them questions and coming out with a cool new tea. I had never purchased from Rosemary's Garden before but I'm now starting to get into making my own face care products so came back with a purpose this time. Shop employees were helpful without being overbearing, which I liked. I was able to shop unencumbered for a bit and then ask a lot of questions once I got to that point. They made lots of great suggestions to me and I walked out with some fun products to try and containers to put my own creations in. I found their prices to be quite good. I've purchased ingredients online before, but shipping costs can be really high so it evens out to be almost the same as Rosemary's. Combined with knowing that I'm supporting a local business... I might just switch over to exclusively buying from here in the future. I noticed that another reviewer complained about the return policy; the policy was posted prominently behind the cash register, so while someone may not like the policy, they can't say that they didn't know it. I can understand why a small business might not be able to offer cash back, and can also understand why that might be frustrating to someone. read more

Just happened to come upon this place as I was walking down main street in Sebastopol. I absolutely love it. It has great botanicals and herbs, and a huge variety of teas! The people there are extremely helpful and very educated on what they have there. They even had jars and vials for sale too. They had a lot of cute all natural lip balm and products also! Thought I'd re visit after being away from the area for over a decade. One clerk was quite lovely. One was unfriendly and unprofessional. Bought some henna. I've used henna many, many times to cover my grey and white hair ( purchased elsewhere), with beautiful results. Thank goodness I did a strand test ! Turned my hair orange/yellow . Called to ask if I could return it. Received voicemail that I cannot. I understand that they don't want the product back, but they SHOULD offer cash refund . I've never encountered this with any other business. From now on I will be sure to purchase my henna and my herbs through Amazon . Better prices and customer SERVICE. Rosemary's Garden keeps my money . I get nothing. I suppose you are accustomed to catering to the wealthy population of the Sebastopol area. I'm not one of those peeps. read more

The goodness of Rosemary's Garden starts at the door--there's this lovely old step with a mosaic on it right outside. Inside is all herb-smelly deliciousness. When I want to make an herbal healing salve (that none of my friends will use because they don't believe in it) this is where I come to get the beeswax and the jars. Rosemary's Garden has a great selection of herbs, some very nice gift items that are herb/holistic based, and a bar towards the back where you can make your own soaps, oils, lotions, and bath salts. My mother always wants to go when she is in town. My favorite are the house-blended healing teas toward the front of the shop. The staff is pretty knowledgeable, all in different ways with different strengths. It's always fun to hear what they have to say.
