Bill's is one of my favorite things about living in west county. It's a rustic, roadside farm store but big enough to be able to buy almost all my staples there. I love getting local produce and eggs from my neighbors chickens. Their veggie starts do amazingly at my place. But the real reason you should shop there is because yesterday when the person who was supposed to drop my groceries had an emergency and couldn't bring them. I was recovering from abdominal cancer surgery so I couldn't go myself. Anthony, one of the owners I believe, offered to drop them off. He came right after work. Never event brought up a service or delivery fee. It's a 5-7 min drive for him but the gesture, for me, is reason enough to shop there as often as I can. read more

Highs and lows. The Mayan coffee was excellent. A great blend of sweet and spicy playing with the bitterness of the coffee. The lows; the Thai tea that was basically orange colored chai and the utterly insulting beverage pretending to be matcha. That last point can't be stressed enough and to the barista that tried gaslighting me, matcha, similar to champagne, gets its name from where it comes from. Meaning, you can't grow matcha in the states and call it matcha. Matcha comes from Japan. It isn't that I'm used to big box versions of it. It isn't that I haven't had real matcha before. I've had ceremonial grade matcha from stores that specialize in doing nothing but matcha and whatever Bill's Brew is selling isn't. read more

I was visiting from Boston, and on my way to the beach, and saw a sign for coffee. I was cranky, tired and craving my drink, but once I stepped inside it was a warm, welcoming atmosphere that fully changed my mood. My drink order can be a little confusing, but this was where the barista Johanna showed her true skills. A triple-shot, half caf, soy and almond milk cappuccino with two pumps of lavender, one pump of cinnamon and one of vanilla. It cannot be too dry, but needs to be in line with a cappuccino. It is rarely made right, but somehow she did it perfectly, all the while making pleasant conversation. I have never written a review, but Johanna's exceptional skill and warmth made it impossible not to. It was a wonderful little coffee shop, but it was Johanna who made my day. read more

A convenient place to get produce and other supplies. I found it annoying that they don't tell you that they charge a fee for using a credit card. I don't blame them for charging the fee, but it is not good customer practice to not warn the customer that may want to pay by cash if they knew the credit card amount would be higher. read more

True to its name, this place was such a gem of a find. I don't normally find myself in this part of California (I barely get out of the main Bay Area), but I found myself working an event up here and needed to pick up a few quick snacks. And here comes Bill's Farm Basket, just a few blocks over in wine country. Over the grazing trails, acres of vineyards and wineries, everything is beautifully spread out over the plains and this classic market was just the icing on stop. You can find your organic health markets like Whole Foods, Sprouts and even Trader Joe's in the city and suburbs, but nothing screams more organic and fresh from the basket than this stop. Aisles of dried nuts, fruits, cacao clusters and energy bars, variety of fruits in their fruit stand... And in the back, a variety of organic and health food snacks (I loved finding my favorite organic/cold-pressured RBBL drinks, Forager, Living Apothecary, coconut waters, etc.). Snacks galore with numerous organic food items, crackers, chips, bars, coffees, ice creams, yogurts and chocolate... Even found some interesting bison and salmon bars up front. Such a unique find but refreshing stop in wine country. It's not glamorous but everything you'd want for a farm stand. Employees are extremely friendly, personable, and not afraid to tell you what goes in each of their products (they don't hide the facts, which I appreciate). Whoever Bill is, thank you. Bill's is the BEST neighborhood store ever! I love dropping by, there are so many good choices there and the guys who run it are wonderfully friendly and helpful. The brothers that own this store are kind and helpful. They carry good produce and yummy snacks. They often sell items from local egg, flower, and fruit/vegetable farmers, which is nice. They stock fresh salsa that their grandmother makes- also nice! This is my neighborhood "convenience" store. Everyone should have a store like this nearby, if only for it's diversity of goods. It's not that near to me, so it took me a while to make a stop. I was impressed by the wide range of goods, something for everyone. Hyper-local organic produce (cultivars of fruit you won't find at a farmers market, but it also wasn't labeled, so you might not even know how local and rare it is to find at a store), organic products, dried beans, bulk flours, a diversity of spices, chocolate, ice cream, milk, dried fruit, snacks, noodles, more. It may not look like much on the outside, but it's definitely worth stopping in to see for yourself. The staff is very friendly and not pushy. read more

I used to drive out of my way to shop at this charming market. Now I live so close I could walk there; this makes me very happy!! Bill's Farm Basket carries all the staples and more. Fresh, local (mostly organic) fruits and vegetables, eggs from a farm within a couple of miles, bulk local raw honey, fresh breads from village bakery in Sebastopol. I appreciate that the owners pay close attention to supporting the local farmers and have a huge variety of organic foods. Sure, their shelves can look sparse at times, but I don't mind since they are a small, family run business. It does not look like a "dirty" place to me. In fact, it seems quite well kept. Also, I've never seen or smelled anyone smoking pot in the back, but if they were, I wouldn't be turned off at all. Come on folks, this is SONOMA county! The owners are incredibly sweet too! Every time I enter the market I get a warm and friendly greeting. I LOVE this shop!! I suppose if I found a can of soup with an old expiry date, I would have the heart to let the owners now about it. The way I see it, if you shop locally from a small business that buys from local farmers, you're doing a great thing for the local economy. read more

This place is deceptive-and in the best possible way. At first glance it just looks like your typical side of the country road fruit and veggie stand. But go inside and there are all kinds of wonderful surprises. Bill's reminds me of a kind of organic country general store. Tucked away in the corners you'll find everything from gluten free baking supplies to a nice selection of greeting cards, fruit and veggie seeds and more. Organic meats, local eggs, homemade chocolates....I still haven't fully inventoried Bill's, which makes it all the more fun, as almost every time I go I end up finding things there I didn't know they had. Great market for people who live nearby, but the best part is the weekend sandwich stand. There's this guy who is a master chef and he smokes his own meat right there. Everything is made from scratch right in front of you (except the sauce which he makes himself anyway). Very yum. Not sure if the ingredients are all local and organic but its definitely priced that way at about 12 dollars a sandwich. Put on some thick skin though cause this master chef has a snarky attitude and a very dry sense of humor. The other day an older woman asked him "can I have a third sandwich" and all he said was "you can PAY for another sandwich." I laughed but the lady didn't think it was funny. read more

I used to love to travel to this little store. I bought some produce, nuts, flour and ordered several free range turkeys in the past years. This year was a huge disappointment. Ordered our fresh free range turkey. The delivery was incredibly slow. Then when I finally got my turkey it was not fresh. It had obviously been frozen and thawed. It baked up beautifully however was the worst. It might as well of been a plastic prop. Terrible. I will vow never to trade there again.Very disappointing. read more

I always love stopping by Bill's Farm Basket, and the best thing is always the customer service. The employees are very kind, honest, and helpful. I've asked about product ingredients before (as I have food sensitivities) and they went out of their way to answer my questions. Same for when I can't find something! They often have beautiful flowers for sale too, both cut flowers and sometimes even plants in pots. My personal favorite is the selection of local and organic fruit- the local raspberries (when in season, don't expect them out of season) are the best I've ever had. I've never had a problem parking here, and they will even give you a box if you need one for your groceries. read more

I once talked with a business contact in Colorado, and when I told him I lived in Sebastopol he said "I remember being on vacation in Sebastopol, and there was this CUTE little road stand shop, with this great produce and these really nice people..." Bill's Farm Basket is definitely memorable! I've been buying here for over 8 years, and love the freshness and great prices on the produce. If you stop by in winter, ask Jim about the Navel! The owners sample anything and will frankly tell you what they like best. Coffee on the other side of the parking lot is superb, organic, and delivered via pony espresso. The clerk was pleasant enough, but I guess the locals love this place for the convenience of buying products that are at my local Whole Foods. We just picked up some apples, chocolate covered blueberries, English toffee and honey sticks on our way to the beach and wow...yummmminess! The produce is so fresh and I was ecstatic to check out this spot, I have so many memories from way back when, of stopping here with my family, when I was oh so young...lol. :)) Memmmmmories. :)) The people are so friendly and it feels really good shopping there. If you are on your way to the beach, I highly recommend this gem to stop for snacks or drinks on the way. :)) This is definitely my new favorite place to stop on the way to the coast. :)) They are even reasonably priced!
