Beatrice and Emmet were my gracious hosts on 4/2/21. There vineyards were barely starting to grow new leaves but the wildflowers on the property were at peak beauty! It's a lovely place to stop during a road trip. The tasting room- a plain if not industrial looking building from the outside but cozy and inviting once inside. The wines- nice selection of sweet whites and reds. The Lenoir grape is a southern special and definitely worth a try! Pricing- $8 for a flight of five 2oz tastings of your choice. We came here on the Texas Independence Wine Trial. This was our last stop after Blue Mule and Rohan Meadery. A simple tasting room. The hosts were friendly and we enjoyed the wine tasting. The meat and cheese plate left a lot to be desired, I would pass on that if I ventured here again. read more

We are so glad we stopped in. Super friendly hosts and delicious wine. We enjoy dry reds and were not disappointed. They end the tasting with the Ruby Port, made from their Lenoir grapes they grow. It was extremely smooth and very tasty---even to the dry red snob. read more

Drive by this winery every few weeks from Sugar Land to Austin where our daughter attends UT. Decided to stop yesterday. My wife and I were greeted by Beatrice. "Do you go by Betty?" we ask. No, call me B. So we explain that I am into reds and my wife into white or blush. Wine tasting starts and I end up liking a Lenoir. My wife likes a white called Blanco du Bois. My preference in reds starts at shiraz, then cabs. However, B's Lenoir is even than some good cabs I have had. I get a bottle. My wife, who plays safe with white zinfandels, likes this white which is not as dry as a chardonnay. We get a bottle. Good local wines. read more

A very quaint Texas winery with some very nice wines. The elderly gentleman (and his wife) who own the place are a pleasure to chat with. If you have a few extra minutes it's worth the stop. Note of caution. If you use Yelp for directions (instead of copy pasting the address directly into Google (or similar) it will take you to the wrong place. Yelp directions take you about 5 miles west of La Grange whereas the vineyard is located 5 miles east. This is not the first time using the Yelp directions link that I've had issues. read more

Small mom & pop winery, very unassuming. I enjoyed every single one of their wines, but my favorite was the Blanc Du Bois. I suggest stopping by to partake in a wine tasting. The owners are on site and very friendly. It's my new pit stop between Austin and Houston. read more

Always fun to stop at a local winery and taste a few. Sometimes you find a wine that just knocks your hat in the creek. Sometimes it's just the joy of hearing the owners talk about their wines and their love of making it. The older gentleman that opened the door for us when we pulled up was so excited to tell us about where they get their grapes and how they make their wines and how they got into wine making. It was worth the stop on our road trip Memorial Day weekend. We tried a flight of 5 dry wines. It's $5 for a tasting...they do not take the $5 off if you buy as some wineries do. Their chardonnay was a very light chardonnay. Not that over buttered California variety. And BTW all their wines are 100% varietal grapes. I wasn't a fan of the Cab Sav but we did buy a bottle of their Merlot. And their port was really pretty tasty too! But of course everyone has a favorite so what I like may not be what you like. But for $5 you can try some nice local wines and enjoy the conversation with the owner. The wines weren't expensive .. $15 to $25. The tasting room isn't fancy. There's not a big gift shop. The grounds aren't much to look at...they will let you wander through the sparse vines and your dog will enjoy the break on the trip down 71. Pull in, stretch your legs, enjoy some Texas hospitality and maybe you'll plop down a few bucks to buy these young, home made wines. read more

cute little place off the side of hwy 71 on your way out of La Grange but well worth the stop. Wine tasting was 7.00 each and well worth it for all the spectacular wines they make. The owners were very kind and knowledgeable about grapes and wines. Some of the facts I never even knew. We will be back and plan on spreading the word about this gem of a winery in the beautiful hill country of Texas. We will never miss a stop in while passing by. Bought a bottle of the Cabernet and also a very unique Lenoir wine that has a subtle but delicious spicy taste to it. read more

Rosemary's offers $2 wine tastings that include 9 wines. I found their wines reasonably priced and staff humorous and personable. It is kind of in the middle of nowhere but worth the drive. They also sell wind caddies, bottle ornaments, and other gift shop type merchandise. Quite a charming little place! :) read more

The elderly gentleman that runs this place is so sweet! My friend and I stopped in on a cold and rainy day on our way back to Austin. The elderly gentleman who I assumed is the owner, was so hospitable. He must have watched us drive up because he had opened the door for us before we were even out of the car. Finishing up our celebration the same way we started - tasting wine. Friendly owners and easy locale. Prices are reasonable. They grow some of the grapes on site. We liked the Merlot and the White Zin. Just glad to have a winery not too far from H-town. read more

We stopped in here on a stormy day on our way back from hiking in Austin. We just randomly wanted to stop as we had just seen it and thought it was a cute place. The vineyards are gorgeous and they let you tour them yourself. The older couple running the place are very pleasant and extremely knowledgable about the wine they make. They make nearly all of their wine there on the grounds which is a rare find these days! The port and dessert wine were the absolute best! But literally all their wine tastes amazing and you can really find the homemade flavour in them. We plan to come back on our way to Austin again next week! They're open 7 days a week ( another rare find with wineries ).. We gotta get a few more bottles! :-) read more

While driving down the highway on our way to Galveston- i wondered if there were any wineries on this stretch of the road. Amazingly- this appeared just a moment later. It was a small quiet place, with some really delicious wines. I did a tasting ( well worth the 7 price), and we wandered around outside to see the vines, and bask in the quiet. The wines were unusual, but delicious. For sure worth a stop on your way out of town. read more

Now a stop along the Texas Independence Wine Trail. We visited Rosemary's on our way home the Brenham Wine Swirl on a quiet Sunday afternoon. We had the place to ourselves and the owner was very attentive. The tasting room was a little austere, more functional than decorative. We tasted all of the wines, but didn't find any of them to our liking. Our group's consensus was they were a little young. Several wines had a slight vinegar flavor to them. read more

This was hands down the best wine we tasted on our weekend. Their tasting was $5 each for 10! I felt a little rushed by the staff. They were friendly. Another disappointment is they would only ship a minimum of 6 bottles. Then when we bought the six bottles they didn't even wave our tasting fee like most places do. read more

The folks here started up this winery about seven years ago. Located along the rolling hills on HWY 71, they are situated just east of the town of La Grange. Owner, Emmett Schulze, started out with some estate grape vines in 2000, but learned by "experience" what grows well and what doesn't for this area. Most grapes now come from west Texas or the high plains, but they still have a few locally produced, as well. Currently, there are about seven wines for tasting located in the new bigger tasting room. Much better than the smaller one many people may have visited before. They have your traditional Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot plus some nice Muscadines. They have both red and white Muscadine wines that are surprisingly smoother than some others made in Texas. Check out the Lenior, too, as its flavors should be palatable for most red wine drinkers. We think the White Zinfandel is the one you might remember most at this place. It's a very pleasant that is a lightly crisp wine that when chilled would be perfect for those hot days. This is a nice little stop as you're heading back and forth between Austin and Houston, with a country setting just off the highway, inviting you to sit a spell and relax as you enjoy the wines and the pretty scenery. The tasting room has ample space, so feel free to stop in and visit a while. read more
