It was so good, we walked out of there with two bottles, their Kooper Family rye (our very…read morefavorite) and their Sweetheart if the Rodeo bourbon (90 proof blended bourbon whiskey). Both are quite drinkable neat. But we also had fun making old fashioneds with both, as well. At just $45 a bottle, it's a heck of a deal. So much better than most is the $50 to $80 whiskeys we buy. Plus, as an added bonus, the Kooper family is very hospitable, informative, fun to hang out with at the bar, and they offer nice tastings at a great price ($16 for three pours), which allows you to determine which bottle is your favorite. You can't get that experience or that level of service at any liquor store! If you find yourself within an hour of this place, you need to visit! While you're in town, checkout the big antique store in Giddiness and have lunch or dinner at Los Patrones. Giddings will soon become one of your favorite towns.

We stopped in today on our way back to Austin from Galveston (4th of July) & I walked in at 6:02, RIGHT after they closed. Although we didn't have time for drinks, I asked if I could get a bottle, & she was happy to stay open a few more minutes for me. She even let me sample a couple because I was indecisive. I realize that was her time off I was cutting into, & I really appreciated it. I didn't catch her name, but it probably won't be hard to figure out who it was. She was so friendly! Thanks again!

Edit to previous review...buckle in!! This will be...uhhh...brief? Ish?…read more In-laws are in town. The wife and mother-in-law (MIL)...I'm sure you can figure that out (Love her) adjourned (twice..more later) to enjoy an afternoon of champagne, vino, and charcuterie. Next shout is to Daniel (Good name. Not that I am biased) who went out of his way to accommodate M-i-L's dietary restrictions due to acute allergies. Well played sir. Upon their departure we dined...AND RETURNED!! The music selection included a bassist that evening which included the likes of Tool, Alice In Chains, Sublime, classic, contemporary, and all over the place music. Again. Fun. Lucky came to say hola as did both owners. So. What else can I say?!? I BS'd my way through some Greek (not kidding) had lots of wine, fun, and closed out the night. Yes. The wife and M-i-L did come here. Left. Ate. And then the whole Fam came back. Upgrading to a rock solid 5 well-deserved stars. See y'all soon I'm sure.

It's beautiful, the owner is extremely attentive and knowledgeable of the different wine options. They had live music a few good chomping options but such a wide variety of wine and a few beers. We had the spinach artichoke dip, chicken flautas, charcuterie board and a turtle cheesecake for dessert. Everything was great, I would definitely come back here. They have great happy hour specials!

Decided to be a day tripper on Saturday as it was a beautiful day for a drive…read more Friends had told us about stopping at Sixth Street Bourbon on their way to Austin while traveling on 290 Hwy. Lots of free parking available. Entered the place and we were greeted by a smiling employee and some water! This place is a great secret to exploring. They have 4 different bourbons that they give you FREE samples. And they have several others that they only charge $3.00 per sample. Husband & I each had a taste of the 4 year & the 6 year which was a great way to become familiar with their bourbon. We then decided to order some drinks. Husband had Smoked Bourbon (rocks glass) which is;2oz Sixth Street Bourbon, 1 oz Vanilla Liqueur, Mesquite-Smoked Ice Cube, Cinnamon Stick( so they smoke the ice cube) this was a great drink. I had Old Fashioned (rocks glass) 2 oz Sixth Street Bourbon, 1/2 oz Simple Syrup, Angustura Bitters, Orange Twist, "Filthy" Cherry. It's an Old Fashioned which is always good. This place is small town charm with a 'Cheers' feel. I highly recommend that you go here. If traveling on 71 or 10 or 290 make the stop and hang out with some great people and drink some great bourbon. ...You MUST try the Rock and Rye as it's like Fall in a shot glass, but you need to sip it and enjoy it. Your Welcome!!
