The crew that showed up at my property to do the work were diligent, hardworking, and performed their job to the max. They removed my old 4.5' fence and installed a 6' fence with 6x6 posts, which is unusual if you look around, as I did as I was out and about around the area, I haven't seen anyone with 6x6 posts, all of them have 4x4 posts, which means that this fence is going to last a very long time in my opinion. Also, the cap and rails on the top of the fence are beefier than most of this style, (2x6). The word I use to describe this fence when I tell my friends about it is Diesel! When the inspector came out to look at it, he walked the fence and was done in about 2 mins, with no questions as I'm sure he was impressed with the quality. if you're shopping around for a fence, make sure you talk to Spencer and the folks at Heartwood Fence. We had two small trees taken down and a large limb off another tree and some dead wood In Hampton. The crew didn't pay much attention to surrounding plants and damaged some, they could do better. They also were to grind stumps, which was sorta done. The person that came out to look at the stumps to be ground stated the small stump grinding machine would be used so not to destroy the surrounding area and plants. The roots that were around stumps would be done as well. Also, we were told the grinding debris would be cleaned up and taken away. This is what we ended up with for the stump grinding. A large stump grinder was brought to the job, one operated by remote, not the small unit, the grinder tore the yard up in several places and the borders around the area. The stump in one area were pretty much ground down but the roots around the actual stump, still there and damaged plants. The other stump, about 1/3 taken down. The debris, about a trash can load was taken away, but we have hauled away 5 wheelbarrow of debris that was thrown in the holes or mixed into the mulch. When we contacted the office with a picture of the grinder and asked if this is what they consider a small grinder we were told no, this was the best grinder for our job. Not sure how the person sitting in an office knows what is best when their representative STANDING in your yard looking at what needs to be done states what will be used and how. If you need trees removed, get plenty of estimates and details of how and what the process entails. If you need stumps removed, call around, just skip Smith's Tree Service for that work, just not worth what happens or doesn't happen.

One was an issue noted by a pest control estimator (which turned out to likely be nothing). Yarkey came out, inspected, explained the reasoning and added metal flashing to ensure it was not a problem. Additionally, our gutter guard is from the 80's and there were problems with nails falling behind it. Eventually the nails showed up hanging between the facia and the gutter. Yarkey removed all the hanging nails before they left. We love the job they originally did on our roof, but can't say enough about them backing up their work down the road. Yarkey is a quality company and has ended up being a cost effective value for us.

After finding them online and seeing my city listed, I called to schedule an estimate. I was then told that because I live more than 30 miles from their location, I am outside of their service area, even though I live in Williamsburg. The website should be specific and state that they only service parts of Williamsburg or mention their mileage limit. This was a complete waste of my time. I recommend they update their website to be more transparent with potential customers.

Jeff & his brother John talked a good game when it came to their work. When it rained, we realized we had been lied to & scammed. Our foundation was flooded, the fence line was flooded in an hours time of light rain. TSP came out w/ a laser level, ran new underground lines & we have not had a problem. Unlike Jeff Melick, they used a level to make sure the water drained away from the house & cleaned up above & beyond their scope of work. Very professional & I do recommend them.
