Furnace issues came up over Thanksgiving. I needed a new furnace. They were able to come out and update my furnace. It took a bit longer than I originally was quoted but overall they were very good. The technicians were nice and explained the issues along the way. They were respectful and communicative. There have been a few issues but the company has been responsive and worked with me to resolve any concerns I have had. The payment plan was easy to set up as a new furnace was pretty expensive. However, there were options depending on what I wanted to do proceed with and it was explained to me and I felt very comfortable with what I was able to choose. New furnace works well. read more

I am surprised at some of the bad reviews but also notice they are mostly related to home warranty claims which involve insurance companies which can complicate things. My experience was just needing a new HVAC company to do my annual servicing for our Wisconsin home as my long time HVAC company was bought out and no longer serviced Wisconsin. I called Rosenthal, spoke with Briana who was very nice and had good follow up, and she scheduled my clean and check the very next day. They use automation so you get a text confirmation of the appointment and another text the day of the appointment with a name and picture of the technician and timeframe of arrival. Alex arrived within the timeframe, wore booties and went through a complete checklist of servicing my furnace (cleaning out the trap and the burners, testing proper voltages and functions, etc.). He discovered that my humidifier was not working correctly and was not properly installed by my prior HVAC company. He is very knowledgeable and experienced and patiently answered all of my questions, was courteous and professional and put everything back together. I had signed up for their annual service plan to come out twice a year (once for the furnace and once for the air conditioner) as it was very reasonable (lower than my prior company). After the call, Alex emailed me the paid invoice and photos of the work done to answer my questions. Basically, Rosenthal did a great job and I am very comfortable using them for my HVAC needs for now and the future. DO NOT USE Rosenthal Heating & Air Conditioning for your AC and Furnace needs. I have never dealt with such a lack of professionalism. They are contracted through my appliance insurance and we're assigned to me to replace my furnace. After my insurance coverage I had an out of pocket cost, this wasn't a problem I agreed to this amount. When their technician Alex Bradshaw finished installing my furnace I asked him, do I pay you now or do I pay someone later. He looked into his service notes and saw 2 different amounts, he was unsure which one was correct and tried to contact the office to figure it out. Nobody answered and HE told me he didn't want to deal with it, that he was "trying to get out of here" he told me someone will contact me for payment. A short time after I had a missed call from Briana Holst their "customer service rep" she left a voicemail saying you "you agreed to these out of pocket costs I don't know why you decided not to pay" and then texted me immediately following saying they're going to call the sheriffs department and rip out the furnace if I don't pay in 5 days. This came as big surprise to me considering I never tried to deny payment, I am the one who brought it up to their technician asking how I pay. Their lack of communication within their own company and lack of customer service skills resulted in me being disrespected and threatened when I did nothing wrong. Then I was told to contact them today because they want to "work it out with me and appreciate my business" when I called I spoke to Katie who never even acknowledged any of what just happened couldn't even provide an apology for the threats and disrespect that was caused by their own error. At this point I just wanted to be done with it, I made my payment, said nothing, and now I'm giving them the reviews they deserve. On top of all of this they didn't even do a good job with their installation I can see light shining in from outside from my basement and the pipes are loose and held in place by zip ties. As you've seen it mentioned, stay far away from Rosenthal if you're a home warranty customer. Request a different contractor if they get assigned to your claim. On more than one occasion, Rosenthal has made it clear that they do not care about home warranty customers. In fact, when I called with concerns about our AC unit, the owner went on a rant about how he wants to break away from the warranty company because he cannot stand the type of business it brings. Rosenthal installed a brand new AC unit in October of 2021 and it hasn't worked properly since. Since our unit was installed towards the end of fall, we didn't have a chance to properly test it. The unit was covered in ice after the first use in May of 2022. When I spoke with the owner of Rosenthal, he threw it in our face that their labor is only covered 30 days after install because we were a home warranty customer. I can understand what the home warranty company contract states, however our unit wasn't installed correctly from the beginning - two other contractors have since confirmed there are 2 leaks at spots Rosenthal would have worked on when installing the unit. Two seasons later, our unit still isn't working as it should. I called Rosenthal today to see if they'd come and properly install the unit - since that's what they were paid to do - and they stated again that their labor is only covered for 30 days. The person I spoke with then said I should have called them earlier as they "sometimes extend the 30 days to a year." I shared that I called exactly 6 months after install and was refused any option other than to pay for the work to be corrected. Coincidental to have that option shared AFTER that window had passed. Rosenthal wants to get paid to do a crappy job for warranty customers and get away with it because their work isn't covered beyond 30 days. The home warranty doesn't cover the needed repairs because the issues stem from labor, not parts. Now we are stuck paying for Rosenthal's poor work and refusal to finish the job correctly. I may be a warranty customer and apparently deserve sub-standard work but I would NEVER recommend Rosenthal to any person needing HVAC work - warranty or not. This could've been an opportunity to gain lifelong non-warranty business and instead we are left paying for their mistakes. read more

ABC had initially come to my home over the summer to do a cleaning for my AC unit. They said that they would inspect my furnace for free while they were in there. The tech advised that he found a bad run cap on the AC and a cracked heat exchanger on the furnace, and recommended replacement. The tech showed me a picture of what he said was my heat exchanger, and where the "crack" was. I then told the tech that I had a home warranty and that I would file claims. I filed my claim with Choice Home Warranty and ended up being assigned to Rosenthal/Kwik Serv for the run cap. Ty was my technician and he did a fabulous job with the repair! Later I filed the claim for my heat exchanger and was assigned again to Rosenthal/Kwik Serv. The tech dispatched this time was Alex, and he was amazing! He was so thorough in his diagnosis and showed me the ACTUAL pictures of my heat exchanger. Turns out the picture ABC showed me wasn't even my heat exchanger! There was red silicone sealant on the ABC picture, and NONE on the real pictures!! ABC had shown me bogus pictures just to try and get a replacement out of me. Turns out there were NO CRACKS in my heat exchanger!! Thank you so much to Alex and Rosenthal/Kwik Serv for being honest and setting my mind at ease!! Rosenthal Heating and Air Conditioning is a disaster. It has been bought out twice in the last five years with absolutely no improvements to their business. I had Rosenthal install a new furnace in my home. The installation was defective with a one inch gap between the furnace duct work and the ceiling duct work. I requested that they fix the mistake and they quoted me a $350.00 cost to repair their mistake. I made four phone calls to Rosenthal Heating and Air Conditioning last month and never received a single call back. Last week I requested to have the owner call me and of course I've not heard from him or anyone from this company. Do yourself a favor and avoid this business at all costs. read more

Our furnace broke in January of 2020. Our home warranty sent out rosenthal. They did a diagnosis and discovered we needed a new heat exchanger. A part inside the furnace in the basement. The tech who came out to do the diagnosis decided for whatever reason, it was necessary to go into the a/c condenser outside and open it up. Something entirely unnecessary for what was needed. While out there, the tech broke our a/c unit. We've had multiple other companies come out to diagnose what was broken and the parts ruined, (suction valve and liquid service valve) were explained to me as parts that don't typically wear out, they have to be tampered with. My a/c worked great last year and now doesn't, rosenthal were the only ones near my condenser since I've bought the house. They are refusing responsibility even after admitting they went into the condenser when it wasn't necessary. They have fought me tooth and nail that even though they went into for no reason its impossible its their fault.. I am now stuck without a/c and it is 100 degrees outside. The repair necessary is out of my budget,the same cost as replacing the unit. Rosenthal is a joke, a fraudulent company hiding behind their home warranty bosses. From the moment he stepped into our home, he was rude, combative and disrespectful. It was shocking and disturbing. My husband ended up asking him to leave and escorted him out. On 5/9/22 North Shore Heating and Cooling (affiliated with Rosenthal Heating and Cooling) sent a technician named Dan Rudnick to assess a leak in the water boiler system in our house. Dan was described by North Shore Heating and Cooling as "committed to a job well done" and "among our best team members". Dan arrived at about 3PM after we had been waiting several hours. He immediately began complaining that he had a bad back and two bad knees. I showed him the boiler system that was located off our kitchen. He complained that the washer and dryer had not been moved to clear access to the boiler system. He immediately went out to his truck and called his office. While he was gone I moved the washer and dryer so he would have access. I went to the truck and told him what I had done and he left anyway without doing anything. Dan was very rude. His behavior was unconscionable. He probably is not in the right physical condition to do this kind of work. I will never use this company again or Rosenthal and on a scale of 1-10 I rate them zero. This was one of the worst companies I have ever had to work with. It only are their employees and their owner incredibly rude and irresponsible, they are unsafe. It's a long story, but worth reading if you care about your families safety. I was assigned to Rosnethal by Home Warranty of America when my furnace stopped working on June 4th, 2020, which resulted in no air conditioning in my home. They came to diagnose the problem a week after the furnace broke, and the repair technician stated that two parts were broken. He also told me that while he couldn't check for sure because the furnace was not working, it looked like my heat exchanger was severely rusted, and could potentially emit CO2 into my home and not be safe. The furnace is almost 30 years old. He said he had pictures of everything, and he would submit it all to Home Warranty as part of the claim. I waited another 3 days for Home Warranty to call, and finally called them to check the status of the claim. Home Warranty said that they had not yet received the diagnosis from Rosenthal. I called them and they said that they hadn't submitted the report yet because they were looking for parts but couldn't find them. I asked them to submit the claim so Home Warranty could do whatever they needed to do. After they submitted the claim, I had to call HWA back and they said that they had to try and source the parts. I asked them what would be done about the rusty heat exchanger and they said there was nothing in Rosenthal's report about it. I explained what the technician told me and they said since Rosenthal didn't say anything about it there was nothing they could do. I called a Rosenthal back and talked to who claimed to be the owner, and he got extremely agitated with me and said that he couldn't be responsible for what his technicians said, suggested I wasn't telling the truth, and then lectured me about how I should be nicer and not as defensive. I asked if his company would be taking responsibility for the safety of my family due to what his technical told me, and again he said he wasn't responsible for anything his technicians said because his company was so large and there were too many technicians for him to take responsibility for. He, unprompted, asked me if I had ever run a company, and informed him that I was an elementary school teacher. He asked me if I could or should take responsibility for everything that was said within my classroom by students, and I told him that I absolutely did, and even took responsibility for things that happened with my students outside of the classroom on school property. I felt personally attacked by the owner. I waited a month for Rosenthal to receive the parts, which never actually happened. I tried calling rosenthal to get updates on the parts, and for a week and a half never once answered my phone calls. All of this while I didn't have air conditioning for my family, which includes a wounded army veteran who had to have his shoulder removed, and needed air antibiotics in the home. Two days ago I was informed by HWA that Rosenthal had just decided to no longer work with me and were abandoning the work. Another company was assigned, and came to my home the next day. While there, they discovered that the circuit breaker had been off, which means Rosenthal diagnoses the "problem" with my furnace while I didn't have power. After the breaker was turned on, the furnace began to run and I asked the new technician to look at the heat exchanger. He turned on the heat to my furnace, and as soon as the heat kicked on there was a loud noise and a bit of extra flame as the heat turned on. The new technician immediate shut down the furnace, turned off the gas, and stated that I needed a new furnace immediately as the one I had was unsafe to use and was clearly leaking CO2 based on how the heat turned on. Not only does Rosenthal have horrible customer service, rude office employees, and am owner who, based on his own words, takes no responsibility for the work his company performs, they are inept in their ability to do their job. Imagine if that furnace had been fixed by them. My family would have been left with a furnace that was unsafe to operate and potentially could have caused serious health issues for my family. I would never use them for any of your HVAC needs. read more

I used them because my home warranty sent them to me. Home warranty is terrible also. They came out 2 months ago and it took the tech 2 hours and he couldn't find the problem. Then, he turns one screw inside the boiler and it worked. 2 months later it goes out again. Same problem. The boiler is only 2 years old and was installed by someone else before I bought the house. 75 dollars a pop from the home warranty company to send them out each time. This time the tech finds the problem right away. Home warranty don't cover the necessary parts so these guys tell me it will be 600 dollars! I asked why it wasn't fixed the first time and his reply was, well it worked for 2 months. The issue is, if it was diagnosed right the first time I wouldn't have had to have them come out again. The man on the phone claims there was nothing to diagnose. Really? You work on boilers for a living and you say there is nothing to diagnose? How about the problem? So on top of paying a fee of 75 again, my dampers still do not work. I called somebody else because they don't want to fess up that they should have fixed it right the first time.
