This definitely was a drive to get to! The wait is long but all dmvs are. However it's clean and the chairs are further apart so you don't feel so claustrophobic or too close to people. The parking lot is big lots of places to fit your car. They have an available restroom to use in several kiosk machines to do your application for your ID or your drivers license and they also have a vending machine where you can do your tags I believe Wait time for I.D and Drivers license Real IDs was 1 hour and a half. read more

I was there to get an ID real. When I approached the counter, I was already greeted by a disgruntled woman who was angry that I couldn't understand her accent. She kept interrupting me, not letting me get a word in. Furthermore, she was constantly chatting with her colleague, and I stood in line for about 20-30 minutes just because of their chatter, which was completely unrelated to the work. I went to the Roseville DMV to make some changes and renew my Real ID. I wasn't able to get an appointment online since all the nearby locations were booked a month out, so I decided to try my luck as a walk-in. I arrived around 8:15 a.m. on a Friday and there were about six people ahead of me in the check-in line, plus a few dozen already inside waiting. I've been to this location before and it continues to be my favorite -- it's clean, organized, and well maintained. It usually isn't too crowded either. To my surprise, I only waited about 10 minutes before my number was called and another 30 minutes to finish my paperwork. The employee helping me was new and needed a bit of assistance, but she was very sweet and apologetic. Even with that, I was out the door in just 45 minutes! Overall, this was one of the smoothest DMV experiences I've had. Definitely worth going early -- and this Roseville location continues to set the bar for efficiency and cleanliness. read more

Somebody shoot me! ...Once again I have an appointment and..... and actually, I was in and out in less than 30 minutes as long as I checked in early. Not bad. Lots of seating, very nice staff, and I quickly got through with the appointment and I made sure that I did do their suggestion of checking in 10 minutes early. I know DMV gets a lot of bad rap, but this was actually not bad. The only negative part was getting an actual appointment was more than 30 days out. I can deal with that as long as I don't have to sit there and walk in and wait for hours. I was only here to change the address on my drivers license and it cost me $36! Seriously, $36 just to change my address. There goes one star on the review. I wish they had a large screen TV with something on to pass the time away. It doesn't even need to have sound since they're calling out numbers, but it would be nice to have something to look at. read more

I finally jumped on the bandwagon to get my Real ID. I had uploaded all my paperwork online ahead of time and even tried to book an appointment, but the earliest openings were two months out. Knowing the DMV's reputation, I decided to just go without one on a Wednesday morning around 9 a.m. The non-appointment line was out the door, but it moved steadily I waited about an hour before checking in. After that, I got a number and only waited about 30 minutes before being called up. I showed my documents, took my photo, and was done! They told me I'll receive my Real ID in about two weeks. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised at how smooth and quick the process was. I expected to spend half the day there, but it really wasn't bad at all. My tip: upload everything online ahead of time and bring all your original documents. It makes the whole process much easier. read more

This place is terrible. While there are a few genuinely helpful and kind associates with outstanding attitudes, the overall experience is an absolute nightmare. The customer service here has completely gone downhill. The majority of the staff lack basic decency, empathy, or even a sense of professionalism. In a moment where someone is already feeling embarrassed, vulnerable, or struggling--whether it's asking for help or inquiring about fee relief--there is no humanity, no care, and certainly no understanding shown. It's like they've forgotten that people come here often in stressful or difficult circumstances, and rather than offer solutions, they meet you with cold stares and dismissive tones. The management is by far the worst part. Stella, the manager, is absolutely terrible. Rude doesn't even begin to describe her. She is one of the coldest, most unkind, unhelpful people I've ever encountered in a public service role. In a time of crisis, when someone simply needs guidance or a little grace, she offers nothing but attitude and condescension. She is an embarrassment to humanity and should not be in a leadership position, let alone representing the State of California. The DMV is supposed to serve the people of this state, but the majority of the staff in this location have forgotten that. Frankly, they should be ashamed. 4.5/5.0 Stars. We're transplants from MD and came in for appointments at 2:20 and 3:20. By 4:45 having filled out nothing ahead of time we left with temporary licenses and three vehicle verification packages. Each of these packets will require returning with a vehicle and standing in line twice for verification. This is CA law and no reflection on this location though these return trips will drag on. read more

The I passed my driver's test and was treated with clear disrespect by the employee assisting me. She made sarcastic comments about my previous attempt and behaved in an unprofessional manner. On top of that, she entered the wrong height on my license (5'5" instead of my correct height of 5'10"). This mistake has caused repeated issues when my ID is checked. I expect a corrected license issued at no cost and a review of this employee's conduct. As a taxpayer, I expect professionalism , not attitude and errors by low IQ people who are not suppose to be working there in the first place read more

The security guard on duty was a young black male extremely unprofessional--speaking disrespectfully to customers, using inappropriate language, and even laughing at people in line. Since the CA DMV field offices don't renew your standard Drivers & Vehicle registration. It would be wise to renew online. However, if your vehicle is on PNO for more than 12 months, you have to visit a Field Office. The CA DMV Website is not updated to handle this type of renewal. No matter the newly Website services. You still have the CA employed employees still working at their own pace. Seasoned employees are still not SME (Subject Matter Experts) & still require assistance from their supervisors. DMV Renewal Kiosks create a line and the most helpful non-employee that is not a CA DMV Employee are the Security Guards who seem to know the Kiosk more than the Employees. On a Monday afternoon on October 2024, non-appointment lines, when I was here, were 10 minutes. Kiosk lines 10 minutes. Waiting for your alpha-numeric numbwr to be called was 55 minutes (your actual visit time will vary). 9 windows were closed, where 9 was open. This isn't counting the Driving test area or ID section. So, with License & Vehicle Renewals/Registration all being done online. Why is there still a lag in a field office? Still, its not as bad. But the CA DMV needs to do a private analysis of their procedures and employees. Is there a staffing issue? Who knows. Best of luck!! read more

Considering it's a DMV office, this place is great! The one thing I didn't like about my driver's license renewal process was that I had paid the fee online when booking the appointment, but on the day before my appointment, I still got an email reminder to pay in order to continue processing my application. That was a bit disconcerting. I was afraid a false party was phishing for payment and had all my DMV appointment details. I had to double check that I had already paid then decided to ignore the reminder and discuss with the DMV in person. The DMV clerk in the appointment check-in line said this was normal of the DMV to send email reminders for you to pay. The parking lot is packed, so make sure to go early enough to find parking. I just took the first open spot I saw, but as I walked to the entrance, more parking spaces had opened up. There are also spaces to the side of the building, so you don't have to park in front. I was surprised by the number of walk-in customers. I guess this DMV can handle the line efficiently enough that people are willing to just walk in. I, on the other hand, booked an online appointment for the following week and got to stand and be helped in the much shorter line. I think I was in line for about 10 minutes. I can't remember how long I waited before my turn occurred, but given the number of people in the waiting area, I feel like my turn happened much sooner than theirs with my appointment. I probably sat for 10-20 minutes at most. If you are getting a REAL ID, don't forget to bring your paperwork (e.g., passport or birth certificate and 2 bills showing your current address). I liked chatting with the DMV clerk in station 16 who helped me! This man seemed happy working there, employed for 5 years. He took his time taking a nice photo for my driver's license. I noticed the stations seemed to have the same eye chart, and the eye chart repeated the same 5 or 6 letters in every line, like F, L, O, and P. When I asked him about the eye chart, he answered that most of the eye charts were the same, except those around stations 19 and 20. I also asked if he had all the eye chart lines memorized, and LOL, he did!!! read more

Renewed my license January 7. The gentleman that took my picture and said your license will be in the mail in 2 weeks. My temporary license just expired 3/07. No license in the mail. I even double checked my info with the employee at DMV to make sure it's right. They spent all this money moving into a new building to expand their services only for 90% of them to take their "mandatory" 10 minute (more like 20) breaks on the hour and stall services for everyone. In the past, I have Dreaded having to go to the DMV! I made an appointment this time to get my drivers license renewed after living out of state for several years and I am so glad I did!!! Now mind you, it took a couple of months to get the appointment But thankfully we did not wait til the last minute to try to get in. I actually had a pretty pleasant experience here! I've been to 4 other DMV offices all over California, and this was probably the easiest time & most comfortable setting. The wait area only had a smattering of people when I went, and the whole place is very spacious. Everything is clear to see and hear as you wait your turn. Came on a Wednesday morning with an appointment I had made less than a week prior and did as much as I could online. I had encounters with 3 different workers, and all of them had a positive, friendly vibe. There was Halloween candy and cute decor displayed at the window where I was primarily helped. Two of the ladies were chatty and funny, and I appreciated the conversation versus just waiting there handling business only. I got assisted as needed and got my questions answered. read more

It's the DMV what do you expect!! No lines!! for real, Im used to DMV lines starting at 7 am and DMV opens at 8. And waiting hour or two or three a whole 1/2 day affair. I've even took a day off to go to DMV but this is an enchanting experience for me. This DMV is coordinated, efficient and open. They have the system and it works. Out the door 10 minutes. Also helps in #B3 Chatting up with the DMV clerk about the crazy weather but she did inform me it takes longer with "incidents" like episode of leaving registration in the garage for a decade or selling title to sister then nephew then cousin etc issues. Even though I was unable to schedule an appointment online due to some weird computer errors, we were still able to enter the facility in person without any delays or long lines. I had to bring my elderly father here for his driver's license renewal application, and then return a few weeks later for his on the road driver's test. The employees were always polite, helpful and even friendly! The efficiency there brought my stress level down enormously! Nothing like I was expecting from all the TV news reports on how overwhelmed all of the DMV's were said to experience! My main concerns were about my dad passing his test, despite all of his old age restrictions, but the driving instructor who assisted him was extremely nice and patient through the entire process. Fortunately, dad passed the tests to my happiness, relief, and yes, surprise! My dad, however, was completely confident and not nervous at all! I think he just wanted to have his driver's license at least one more time before he is considered too old. (He hardly drives anyway). Not all DMV offices are created equal! I love this location! We've come here for driving tests, transfer titles, renew license and now....handicap placard! My podiatrist gave me the forms for a temporary handicap placard. I've been trying to get an appointment online and the system has been down the last few days. So, I take a gamble and venture here w/o an appointment. I was a bit apprehensive when I pulled into the parking lot at noon. There were so many open spots for parking, I couldn't believe it!?! I thought the place was closed?! Lol was it a holiday??? Nope! I go in, there's a check in area, I tell her what I was there for. She asks if I have an appointment, I tell her no. She hands me a slip with my number and I go and wait. Had to do another transaction here. Had my partial application online, had to do the rest in person. Went here 9am past, waited for one hour for me to be called. There was a time that there where only 9 windows staffed, out of 22 windows.I got called when there was 15 windows finally serving the crowd. I cannot say if it is average time for DMV service or what. What a relief that my lady staff, Renee was awesome in servicing me. She was accommodating, cool and very patient with my inquiries and my case. Got lucky I would say that she did not make it hard for me, as it is already. I went to DMV to ask a simple question about registration because there was a recall on my vehicle. I waited a total of 2 1/2 hours, while I watched DMV employees play around and laughing, etc. I was treated rudely and then lectured; my question was not answered! I've been to this DMV 5 times in the last couple of months. Diff issues with 2 diff people. First two times was ok. I went in with a minor to get the drivers lic. We, after two failed computer test were told to request the written test. Went in the 3rd of July, parking lot wasn't full, no line outside (I find that going in day prior to holiday is a good time, no people as they are all on the road getting to the Holiday destination). I never saw it so empty. He walked in, right up the the test line, no one elce was around, He was told by the very rude employee, NOT TODAY, NO WRITTEN TEST, its the day prior to holiday, come back next week. It wasn't crowed at all at this time, yes it was a day prior to a holiday, but the building wasn't full like a normal day. We went back in on Monday, it WAS busy, he waited, asked for the written test, same lady said, NO, not today. I then asked to talk to a manger, (I wanted to know how to avoid this game of crapshoot, will he get it, will he not??) she smirked a little smile and said, sure, whats your phone number I'll put you in the system, it will be at least 45 minute wait, with a hugh smile, gave me my wait number and said, next person in line. She was very rude to my grandson on Thursday, so I went in with him on Monday, she was very firm in her NO and seemed to find pleasure in my wanting a manager. We didn't wait for the manager and are going back in tomorrow AGAIN for a written test request, we are so at DMV persons mercy. Its a judgement call for them when to administer the written test and when to say NO. I called the 800 number last week (oh thats another fustrating adventure) after a couple of tries I reached a person, was told by a very nice person ALL DMV's give written test, no appointment needed, just ask for it. She failed to tell me they can turn you away if the feel like it. While waiting for the manager I Googled the written test request at DMV and it said they can turn you away if busy, it's always busy at DMV, it's part of the experience. Such a great experience here like no other! I would say it's probably the BEST DMV experience with the friendly customer service; the attendant behind the counter looked and sounded happy to be there! That's not something you get at the DMV, am I right?! The lady who helped me was so nice, she even suggested some things to do on my form to make everything work out expeditiously. The place also looked very clean, bright and comfortable. In fact, when I waited there was barely anyone there. I must have come at a decent time but it was a weekday, a little after lunch. I had the best experience at the Roseville DMV. I know, going to any DMV has it's challenges but this one was perfect. I moved to CA. so I had to go through more of a process. I had such caring and kind help. Sandy was phenomenal. She went beyond what she had to do and was posivitve, encouraging and smiling the entire time. I didn't have a long wait time, I had a wait time that I expected. It went as smoothly as possible and no complaints. In fact I am grateful it went so smoothly and it was because of the people working there, especially Sandy. Everyone was professional and respectful.
