Rosewater. Is. Phenomenal. I really can't say enough great things about this place. I usually get a platter with falafel and veggies, rice, and hummus. Everything is so flavorful and fresh! The falafel is crispy on the outside and moist in the inside, the veggies have an incredible flavor from the grill, the rice is well seasoned, and the hummus is delicious. The small arugula salad that it comes with is tasty as well! I also HIGHLY recommend the hot garlic sauce. The appetizers and salads are all wonderful, fresh, and flavorful. Yum! My wife noticed this restaurant pop-up on Liberty Avenue and we decided to try it! We're we're not disappointed. We each ordered "Platter 1" which included a protein of choice, a side dish, rice or fries, salad, a pita, and a choice of sauce. I ordered the kofta kebab, baba ganoush, rice, and tahini sauce. The kebab was fantastic. Lots of flavor. The rice was great and the portion was liberal. The baba ganoush was great too. The salad comes dry, but I used my tahini sauce on it and that worked out great. My wife ordered lamb tikka, falafel, rice and garlic sauce. The lamb had great flavor (but was admittedly pretty fatty). The falafel was amazing, but wasn't a large portion. The garlic sauce was great too! Overall, the meals were filling and flavorful. The staff were very kind and friendly. They offer a generous rewards program. We almost earned $3 off our next meal from our first purchase! *The restaurant has only been open for a few days and they are giving 15% off to patrons while they get off the ground (not sure how long this will last). Well I've visited here about 10 times now since they have opened a few months ago. Pros - food is excellent and flavorful. All greens are fresh and served up to look very appetizing. Good selection of different foods to try along with sauces. The workers explain all the food you are getting g if your unfamiliar with some of the Mediterranean options. The facility is always clean and inviting. Cons - Extremely slow when you order in person at the counter. I was in there alone and it took 20 minutes to get my food... Now the food was cooked in front of me besides the Shwarma but still 20 minutes is a tab bit long for only one customer. They are pretty stingy with the sauces that accompany some of the dishes even if you pay for extra sauce. Seams as though they are trying to conserve as much product as they can given the situation around the pandemic and how it's affecting small businesses especially hospitality. They have to remember that you need to keep your loyal custom ers happy if you plan on broadening your scope in an area like downtown. All in all I'm still happy with the service and food but no matter what you do you can always improve. read more

The interior of the restaurant is quite new and well kept. Makes sense since it's only been open for less than a year, I believe. However, I took my food to go and did not stay to fully explore the place. Oddly, I wanted to try one of the desserts first. I got 3 to sample, but the mihalaya at Rosewater seemed to be the only place to get this dessert. Thus, I was intrigued. Unfortunately, this had to be one of the worst non-American desserts I have ever tried. While it is supposed to be a pudding, it actually had the consistency of jello. It tasted like it had been sitting in a fridge before, very artificial and the toppings did not taste fresh at all. But, when I actually tried my main meal, I was pleasantly surprised by the meat's taste. I don't think I've had kebabs since my last trip to Ukraine, and Rosewater's were very good! Proper amount of spice, not too hard, and you can taste the char on the tikka. The kebab was minced chicken meat which was equally tasty. The sides were rice and pita. Rice was a bit above average, as it did have a hint of additional flavor not present in other restaurant. Pita was a fine size and tasted plain, so I used it as a tortilla to add the chicken into. My order was a platter 2 I believe, since I chose 2 appetizers with my 2 proteins. The apps were 2 falafel pieces and bean salad. Falafel was crispy and had an excellent interior. Bean salad came in a somewhat oily sauce but came with many bean types, like chickpeas. Baklava had a nice amount of nuts and was soaked well at the bottom, but lacking a bit on the top layers. It was my first time trying basbousa, and I liked it! A bit like an Almond Joy, without the chocolate and with added farina and sugar syrup. Strong coconut taste. Also had a nut in the middle. One major drawback to this place, in my opinion, is the portion. Comparing to some other places I have been to, they are not very large. Bean salad container is the size of my thumb, and appetizer portions are all tiny. Meat portions are okay but empty plastic separators and arugula salad take up room in the styrofoam container to make the portion seem larger. 3.4/5 read more

We love Middle Eastern food and have tried many places in our local area (Michigan). This was hands down the best Middle Eastern we've eaten! This place doesn't look like much from the outside but I promise you it is worth the stop. I ordered pick up through DoorDash and was quoted a time that was about 30 minutes when I placed it. I got there about 5 minutes before my quoted time and was told it would be just a little bit longer. The eating area was clean and there were a few patrons eating even at the later hour (around 7ish). We ordered a platter with chicken and a gyro. The platters are huge and could easily be considered a large meal. You get an incredible amount of food for the price. The staff was very friendly despite being obviously busy. I visited Rosewater at 1pm on the Monday after Father's Day and I was the only customer when I came in. The gentleman running the restaurant greeted me immediately, offered me a sample of their chicken shawarma and asked if I had any questions. I ordered the large platter with kofta kebab, chicken tikka, rice, hummus, salad, pita and yogurt/cucumber sauce. My meal was ready in under ten minutes. Based on another reviewer's comment about small sauce portions, I ordered extra and was glad I did. One sauce would have been adequate for the small platter with a single protein, but not for two. At $0.50 for more, it's a no-brainer, but the larger platter really should include more. Overall, the food was excellent. The rice was light, fluffy and fragrant, with a nice subtle flavor. The kofta was nicely spiced and held together well, indicating it was all meat and no filler. The chicken tikka was the highlight of the platter; it was juicy and very flavorful. Rosewater's hummus is quite good and is served with a nice light drizzle of olive oil. The yogurt/cucumber sauce was also tasty, and added a pleasant zing to the meats. Delicious authentic middle eastern food. Yes the chef is middle eastern, of course that's a plus, which means not westernized . Very kind and hospitable, something you don't see much often. Very clean place! Portions were somewhat generous. Their rice and it's aroma was delicious. Falafel crunchy from outside and soft from inside. Their babaganoosh and motabbal hit the spot, authentic and rich in spices and garlic. Shawarma was delicious and crunchy, order 2 if ur hungry-more on the smaller side. I'll post what we had.
