Came here for a team dinner and wow was everything absolutely amazing. We sat outside on the lovely patio. I split the filet mignon shish kebab and the lamb mixed grill plate with two other teammates. The meat was so tender and beautifully grilled. The scene was set, a cold crisp Christmas Eve night. I had called ahead days in advance to make sure the restaurant was open for the highly anticipated date night. It was my return to the dating scene after a few years in hiatus, would I be ready? Could things actually go right? Why did we pick this night to go out for the first time? Am I going to completely lose my mind? Well, the original plan was Tacayo and it was closed, but we strolled past it into this establishment with me not even knowing that we were in a totally different restaurant. I looked at the menu, this doesn't look like taco's at all, what is happening here? We called Tacayo to make sure in case they were open and we could still eat there. Nope, they were certainly closed. You know what? I took it in stride and said, "what the heck, I like mediterranean food." We were waited on and placed our orders, things seemed to be moving along nicely. The only problem being we had both ordered the falafel platter and my date calmly tells me that in the past she thinks she had an allergic reaction after she ate chick peas. I was like, well we better just inform our waiter and get something else. She says, no, that's o.k. I don't want to waste food. Ummm....you want to risk your own health so as not to waste food? As it turns out she at the falafel and was completely fine. So, truth be told I have had way better Middle Eastern food. You can tell that they are trying and they make the effort to please the customer, but the food that comes out is just o.k. For a date night it wasn't terrible, but it wasn't stellar. We stumbled upon Pasha after the Shadyside Art Fest because we were starving for lunch. They had immediate availability, and they were even able to see us in their upper deck outdoor patio with our dog. Only giving it a 4 out of 5, because I thought the falafel was a little bit underwhelming and the food took about 45 minutes to come (even though we were the only guests in the restaurant at that time). The lamb mixed grill was delicious and I would totally get that again. Definitely ask for a side of garlic and yogurt sauce! Really enjoyed the food, overall. We ordered hummus to begin and found it only included pita bread; we were told you can add vegetables for an additional $4, which we declined. For our main entrees we ordered Chicken Adana and Lamb Adana; we split both meats and it was unanimous that the Lamb Adana was far superior. The Lamb was well seasoned and charred. The house salad (cucumbers, tomatoes and seasoning with a vinegar dressing was delicious. Service was swift and cordial. No complaints about our server. Beautiful dining room and delightful, friendly service. As if that were not enough, the food is on par with some of the best Turkish food I've ever eaten. The potato salad, served cold, has lots of herb and scallion flavor. The shish kabob portion is very generous, well cooked and well seasoned. It comes with a tomato, cucumber and parsley salad, grilled peppers and tomatoes, and white rich. For dessert they have a super-creamy, sweet rice pudding. We stopped by Pasha around 2pm on a Sunday and were able to get a table right away on the patio. We ordered a couple of platters to share and all got Turkish coffee. I went to Turkey last year (Istanbul, Cappadocia, Antyla, and Gaziantep) and loved the Turkish coffee there so was a little disappointed at the one at Pasha, although I bet if someone has never been to Turkey they wouldn't be disappointed. The large mixed appetizer platter was huge and delicious. The lamb mixed grill was a little expensive for what it was but still reasonably good. read more

Pasha is a cute Turkish restaurant in Shadyside. I like the interior and the decor. I had high hopes for the food. I'd say it was ok. Not great, not bad. We started with a few appetizers: hummus, kisir, cacik, spinach borek. And then we shared izgara kofte. I liked the hummus. The spinach borek is a little like a Greek spinach pie, except it's deep fried. It was fine, but I think I prefer a flaky spinach pie more. The Kofte was a bit overdone. A good kofta should have nice spice mixture and be moist, like a burger. This had a crunchy crust and was overcooked and dried out. The cacik, a yogurt, cucumber and mint dish, saved the kofta! read more

My husband introduced me to this little gem, I wasn't sure what to expect when I walked up- the indoor outdoor vibe was such a pleasant surprise. It was also the best weather to sit near the outdoor area. I was craving falafel for dinner but what blew me away was the zucchini- whoa, it was bursting with flavor. I literally savored each bite. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The atmosphere was like dining at someone's home and we really enjoyed it. Falafel and chicken kebabs were the standouts here. Pasha is one of my favorite restaurants in Pittsburgh because it is consistently good. I have been here with my girlfriend several times now and the food was great every time we went.  We love getting the small mixed appetizer that lets you try 5 cold appetizers of your choice. Their hummus is amazing and Aisha likes the Baba Ganoush even more! But we recommend that you try them both as part of your 5 cold appetizers. As for the meals, I really enjoyed the falafel and zucchini entree. The veggie appetizer is also good and lets you try all of their veggie options. Aisha LOVES the lamb chops entree and would highly recommend it. We've also been here for brunch and Aisha is a big fan of their crepe. I also recommend their Turkish Menemen if you're a vegetarian! When the weather is warmer, their patio area is the best place to sit. Would highly recommend check it out! read more

One of the best meals I've had recently! We really did it up with the appetizers - spinach borek, calamari, baba ganoush and falafel. The calamari was super tender, the spinach borek was really tasty and the baba ganoush was outstanding. I had never had falafel before and it wasn't my favorite but that's my preference, still glad I tried it! I ordered the filet mignon beef shish for my entree. I had to order it medium well (pregnant) but I usually prefer medium rare - rare. Let me tell you, this steak was SO tender and flavorful, even cooked medium well. I was so impressed. The rice and salad were also very good. We ended the night with baklava and Turkish coffee - delicious!! The service was incredible. Our server was so friendly and attentive. We had a lovely dinner at Pasha last night. It was fairly busy around 7pm on a Friday, but we were still seated right away. The dining room, and patio especially, were kind of tight - making it a bit uncomfortable if you, like me, have any concerns about keeping a few feet of personal space. Our server was very polite and friendly, and checked on us often while still giving us plenty of time to enjoy our meal. We started with spinach borek, which were really delicious! Both of our entrees were fairly good, but neither was exceptional; the fried zucchini was fantastic and the rice was very good, but the falafel and chicken were both a little dry and underwhelming. Portion sizes were also a bit small, though neither of us left hungry. Overall it was a pleasant evening at a cute spot, with nice food, and a crowded dining room. read more

One of my favorite restaurants in Pittsburgh! Top-notch service, excellent food, and lovely vibes! My favorite item to order has to be the Lamb Adana! So flavorful & I genuinely can't get tired of it, no matter how many times I eat it! I'm originally from Albania and it has been difficult finding restaurants in Pittsburgh that remind me of the food back home. Although it's not exactly the same as they are different cuisines, Pasha Cafe & Lounge really brings forth some of the key flavors of the Mediterranean/Balkan areas. My friend and I had dinner at Pasha Cafe on a Saturday around 7 pm. We did not have a reservation, but we were able to get a seat on the patio. Both the patio and inside space are so cute. The patio has fans to keep the air flow moving which is appreciated! For our apps, we started with the hummus and the cacik, which is yogurt with diced cucumbers, garlic, mint and olive oil. They were served with pita bread. For our entrees, my friend ordered the shrimp kebab and I ordered the grilled salmon. My friend also ordered a glass of Turkish wine. Everything tasted so fresh and you can tell the food is made with love. One thing to note is that there is a bit of a language barrier. I ordered a soft drink and I never received it. I tried to ask a waitress about it and she did not understand what I was trying to say. However, the food was so good that I didn't even need the drink. lol I will definitely be back for more meals in the future! read more

Went back here for dinner with my wife and enjoyed it very much. The food is still great (not that I'm surprised). One new thing we tried is the chicken mixed grill; it's an excellent value if you want a lot of food (and we wanted some leftovers to take home, partly to share with our daughter). The mixed grill has all four chicken varieties from the menu (kebab, adana, chops, and kofte; 2-4 pieces of each). The meat prices are on the higher side at Pasha (well worth it though for the quaity) so getting the larger platter helps offset that. Pasha has a very nice ambience for an early dinner. It's on the quiet side and they have a porch area with lots of natural light. We'd definitely come back for another nicer occasion. read more

Got takeout last night and would rate this a 3.5-4 star place. The apps saved our meal. The babaganoush, grape leaves, and hummus (a special meant it was free w/ our order) all were really good. The former nice and smokey ; the latter creamy; & the grape leaves (warmed in our microwave) were nice and lemony. It was the entrees that really brought the score down. They just weren't that flavorful - which is kind of shocking for Mediterranean food. The chicken kabab was tender enough, but again, it just lacked any defining flavor despite being marinated in "herbs and spices." The chicken kofte was especially disappointing. Usually the ground chicken is infused with aromatic spices, but this was more overcooked and lacking in spices. The rice did the dishes no favors -- dull white rice. Bummer! The odd half tomato (Roma) and green pepper were barely grilled. And that was it. The little chopped cucumber/tomato/parsley/onion salad that came with each helped add some freshness to the plate. All in all - a disappointing meal. If we go back - we'd stick to lunch and appetizers. read more

Most authentic mediterranean food I've had in Pittsburgh! The food here feels really fresh and healthy -- never too oily and ingredients always feel high quality. Been here a couple times and the meat is always flavorful and has a wonderful chewy texture. The portions are fairly small though, and they don't give that much rice and side salad with it. Depending on the protein you order it might be a smaller or larger quantity. Baklava was great as well; not too syrupy or sickly sweet like a lot of baklava can get sometimes. The ambiance inside is pretty serene and quiet. It's almost a little formal. Kind of feels like somewhere I should take my grandparents. Pasha has the most delightful vibe both inside the restaurant and on the patio. The inside is decorated with gorgeous Turkish lamps and the outside patio has a retractable roof and comfy seating. The music played is fantastic and the service is great. I was so excited to eat here and while some of the food was good, most of it fell a little flat. We had the lamb and the chicken entrees and both were dry and needed more seasoning. The calamari, pita, and grape leaves are why this place gets 4 stars and not any less. The calamari was some of the best I've ever had and the pita was warm and delicious. I would probably come back for appetizers and to try some of their drinks but mostly to enjoy the atmosphere and relax away from the business of walnut street. read more

The Lamb Adana was pretty good, but the portions weren't that big, especially for the price ($23-$24), which were higher than shown online. I definitely left feeling hungry. The service was pretty slow to seat us and give us our menus, but they did a good job keeping our drinks full. The restarting is pretty nice inside. It is definitely a higher end kebab place. I've been meaning to come here for so long and I finally did on my birthday! The restaurant is hidden away a little bit, looks like limited seating, but very cute inside. They have indoor and patio seating. Service was good, a little slow to get food but maybe because there were only 2 servers. We got the cosmopolitans for drinks and hummus and calamari for apps. Dinner was the chicken mixed platter and the falafel/zucchini platter. Took a bit to get food but everything came piping hot and tasted delicious! The chicken was so flavorful. For dessert we did the kunefe, which takes 15 min to come out per the menu because it's made to order. I've had kunefe before and this dessert did not disappoint today. Came here with my family on a recent weekend stay in the city, while attending our daughter's choir concert. The inside of the restaurant was decorated very festively for the season ,and we sat in a smaller back room which gave our party a bit of privacy. We ordered family-style, so that everyone could sample all the dishes we chose. Items included: stuffed grape leaves, a cold veggie platter, grilled shrimp skewers and finally a mixed grill platter. We were in a bit of a time crunch, and the servers and kitchen accommodated us by speeding up the ordering process and delivering the food to the table. Everyone enjoyed these Turkish delights and there was plenty of food to go around...and a taste to satisfy everyone there. So glad we stopped in to this spot! read more

Alert alert! This local favorite Turkish restaurant now has a liquor license & a brunch menu. Even though we went for lunch, I had to try something off the brunch menu. The Turkish menemen immediately caught my eye as I am a big shakshuka fan. While I enjoyed it, I think I prefer traditional shakshuka for its depth of flavor & runny eggs. I am still excited, though, by this expansion for Pasha & will definitely try their other brunch dishes! The new wine list isn't huge, but it includes some really interesting Turkish wines that I hadn't before tried. While we didn't try any, the cocktail list also looked interesting & includes some traditional Turkish favorites. While the menus have expanded, the ambiance has remained cozy & warm, and I love the Turkish art that lines the walls. The service is pretty good, but could use some ironing out. I think expanding the menu has caused a few problems for the service, because dishes came out at wildly different times. My girlfriend have been walking past this place forever and we finally came last night. We had a special night planned and figured we would give Pasha a try. We were instantly delighted with the decorations and the vibe of the restaurant. It was so cute and the outdoor area was open also! Pasha is BYOB so we brought a nice bottle of wine. We ordered the grape leaves and hummus to start. Then I got the falafel and rice as my entree. Everything that we had was great! It is definitely pricey so it's great for a special occasion.
