Surprising little carryout place with great food! Very fresh and delicious! Cash is preferred; 3% surcharge for card transactions. I'll definitely be back.

This is my first visit and won't be my last. The service and food was excellent! I placed my order for Chicken Shawarma wrap, Spinach pie and Mouttabal dip and it was hot, fresh, and ready in less than 15 minutes. The check out process was quick. The food was phenomenal. The spinach pie was a nice appetizer size portion with ample amounts of seasoned juicy spinach with a tad bit of walnuts for texture. There were just the right amount of other ingredients to compliment the flavor from the spinach. The chicken shawarma wrap was a nice sized wrap with generous amounts of filling-chicken, sauces, pickle and not too much garlic. My favorite was the sauce, which reminded me of warm cream cheese. It was yummy! The mouttabal dip was cold, but had a great flavor and texture. The smokiness of the grilled eggplant, countered by the acidity made me want more. I highly recommend this place for fresh, friendly and authentic Middle Eastern 'Tasty' fast food.

    Chicken salad and shwarma..yumm!!

I really like the chicken shawarma in pita bread here. I usually pair that with the mini chicken rolls with garlic dipping sauce. There are always the same two people working when I go in and I'm pretty sure the guy at the desk knows what I'm about to order when he sees me lol. I've also had the grilled chicken salad which is good and unique made with kidney beans, sour cream and some other healthy foods. My food has always seemed fresh cooked, made to order. Their menu has lots of vegetarian and gluten-free options as well. They have no tables inside and offer take out only. Maybe call ahead to order if you don't want to wait for your food to be prepared. Catering is available. A great option for tasty and inexpensive Mediterranean food in the Penn Hills shopping center.

I stumbled upon this place early on and I am hooked! I absolutely love this place. The food is fresh. You can tell it s made it with a lot love. I have to recommend their chicken shawarma wrapped in tortilla. Wow Wow... The flavour is solid and so rich... I'll have to try everything on their menu. Of your in Penn Hills, order from this place... Taste for yourself!

My husband and I ate one lunch here. Indoor and covered outdoor seating was available. The employees promptly greeted and seated us, and I appreciated that they recommended specific menu items to help me choose. After a reasonable wait, the foods were brought to our table. Here are my ratings for what we ordered: Grilled Shrimp - 5 stars - Several large, juicy shrimp were on skewers and had been perfectly cooked. Sides were mixed vegetables and a mix of rice and bulgur. Chicken Shish Kebab - 4 stars - The chunks of chicken were large and juicy and had a mild seasoning. On the side was rice pilav. Turkish Tea - 4.5 stars - This black tea was a good size and was served hot. Packets of sweeteners were available. The total price was $55 plus tax and tip.

Falafel appetizer was very, very hard and chewy. Even with a serrated knife it was difficult to cut! Shepherd Salad was fresh but was mostly red and green bell peppers. Very little tomato or cucumber or onion which I was expecting. Not their fault but mine for not knowing about this salad. Again they were super nice and offered to take it back. Donor Kebab was over cooked. Dry. Chewy. Tzatziki sauce was fine. I ordered two extra mini-cups of tzatziki to help me finish the donor kebab. (Extra $1). Bread was very good. I ordered the Turkish Tea but it never came : (

We were confused as to where the actual restaurant was. There is a sign on Route 8, so we parked there, looked around, walked downstairs, only to find it was offices. We then walked upstairs and found that the entrance was actually on the other side of the building but accessible from the front. It's an interesting place when you walk in. We were quickly greeted and seated. It seemed as though the owner and family were working. The menu was interesting, not real large but sufficient. We had, who I believe is the owner, come to our table and ask what we typically like to eat and then she was making suggestions. We thought she was just being helpful. My wife finally looked at her and said, I'm sorry are you also taking flour order now? She replied well that's what I was trying to do. To me that was a little off putting. We all took her suggestions and ordered. The food came out fresh and warm. It was good. We all tried each others meals. We felt that what my wife ordered was the best. The place isn't huge inside but it was fairly busy. It was a little pricey but not bad.

Am looking forward to being back! My server was Tolia (sorry if I'm misspelling/misremembering) and she did an AMAZING job. She was super friendly, made awesome menu recommendations and was a delight to chat to. She recommended I start with the char grilled octopus and this was delicious. It came with capers and a grilled lemon and olive oil and was beautifully presented. The potion was easily finished by just me, so if you have more than 2 people I'd recommend getting more than 1 order of these. It's so delicious. I was then picking between the pastitsio and the moussaka. I was told they both have a strong nutmeg flavor which was not a problem for me. I decided on the moussaka and it was so delicious. It did have a strong nutmeg flavor but not in an overwhelming way. It came with a bechamel sauce on top and layers of eggplant with ground beef tomato and potato. It sort of reminded me of a shepherds pie if you're not as familiar with Greek food. The portion was HUGE - could easily split between 2. I ate almost half of it but couldn't eat the rest although I wish I could've. It was so good. The cocktail I ordered was a nectar spritz (something with "nectar" in the title at least) and genuinely was one of the best cocktails I've had. Definitely beat every other one I had in Pittsburgh this week by FAR. So yummy. I was so impressed with every aspect of my dining experience and would definitely be back!

Seeing him still there, working hard after all these years, was genuinely heartwarming. We visited over a busy holiday weekend, and although things were hectic, I couldn't help but feel for the owner, who was doing his best despite his age. I just wish the younger staff had stepped in to help him a little more. The food had some great highlights. The lamb kabob was tender, juicy, and full of flavor, the hummus was delicious, the lemon potatoes were amazing, and I enjoyed the sampler platter with the stuffed grape leaves. Overall, Christos has a lot of charm, history, and heart. I truly hope this Pittsburgh staple is around for many more years. The server, Christos, who is 86 years old, came out to greet me as I was looking at the menu on the window. He certainly has a lot of charm and decided to take a chance. He doesn't understand English too well but definitely knows how to upsell. He asked me if I wanted hummus and bread, so I naturally thought it was part of the meal, but it was an additional four dollars. I ordered the great version of the Shepherd pie and he asked me if I wanted boiled potatoes since it was his grandmother's recipe. Again, I should have asked, but didn't realize I was going to be charging another five dollars as well as for anchovies on the salad. He seemed a little offended when I said I didn't really enjoy the Onassis dessert which he raved about and suggested that if I didn't like it, he would not charge me. Because I did not, and wanted to try the baklava sundae, he instead deliver the regular Baklava although it was not very crunchy and actually pretty soft and soggy like it had been sitting around and then microwaved. Probably the worst I've ever had. But he didn't charge me for the Onassis dessert. The salad was actually very good, particularly because of the added anchovies. The boiled potatoes were not anything special so I would pass if offered another chance. Sorry, grandmother! The main dish was also not very fresh and the Lamb tasted a little gamey. The "complementary" vegetable with the meal was green beans, which were very soggy and overcooked. Similarly, the rice tasted like it had been sitting around and prepared days ago. I also found two hairs on my plate. For $50, I would've expected a little bit more other than some interesting stories of how he used to work for Jackie O. But the worker who was sitting in the dining room and doing his own belching contest certainly added to the ambience as he was organizing the cutlery. Now I can understand why the place was so empty. I had planned to go to gaucho's down the block, but the wait was 30 minutes. Next time I will go to gaucho's instead.
