    Nopal y huevo plate
    Raquel A.

We ordered breakfast, the nopal and eggs plate and the huevo ranchero with barbq. It was busy when we got there. Service was pretty attentive. Our food did take a long time to be made and not as hot when served. Tortillas are hand made and very good. Overall, taste was good and service good.

    No debit or credit yet!

So first off FYI, as of 6/25/17, they only accept cash at this place and has been that way since it opened but credit/debit usage will be coming soon. When we first arrived I was surprised that the lighting was low and made it a little calmer and relaxed for me. The menu was simple and had some similarities to other restaurants in Harlingen such as Mi Rancho and Tejano Grill. I know the owner has a 13 restaurant empire or something so it's possible they own those other places. I opted for a breakfast special on the menu, but I forgot the name :( that included nopales, chicharrons, barbacoa, and egg all on the same plate. Whoa. When we received our order, they sent out the wrong food for the table. So they had to take it back and get the correct order. Once we got the right food, plate was huge and I enjoyed it! My mom's GIANT taco looked good as well and the fajita had definite smoke flavor as if it was cooked on the bbq. My wife had a Tejano plate which was 2 enchiladas with carne guisada. She said she enjoyed it but it wasn't as good as Mi Rancho. I would probably come back but hopefully once they add credit fuctionality.

    Enmoladas

Extremely pleased with the food and service here! Our server Rachel, made our late lunch enjoyable and constantly made sure we didn't need anything! We got the cheese enchiladas and enmoladas and they did not disappoint. The food had a very delicious homemade taste and the tea was amazing! The place is big enough to not have to wait around for a table and Rachel provided quick and friendly service which made our dine in a breeze! Debit/Credit card are accepted as well as cash. (Noticed in previous review that it was cash only! However, that is no longer the case!)

We came for breakfast and found that this is a busy little spot! Food was great, portions were large. I have no complaints.

Everyone seemed to like what they ordered. My Two Meat BBQ Plate had brisket slices and some smoked turkey breast. The turkey was a little dry but had good flavor and there was a lot of it. The brisket was nice and moist but unfortunately two slices were sliced incorrectly WITH the grain instead of across the grain. This made them tougher than they should have been. Kind of a rookie mistake. But the flavor was good. The grandson's spicy fried flounder was very good. He loved it! The spicy Chicken sandwich was excellent and shared between two of our party. Overall the food was good and the service was very good. The place wasn't busy because it was midafternoon which was nice since it's usually packed on the weekends. We definitely will return when we travel to Harlingen to pick up visitors at the airport.

The AC vents are caked in dust like they've never been cleaned, and there's what looks like black mold throughout the building. If this is what's visible to customers, I can only imagine what's happening behind the scenes in the kitchen. Then came the service, which somehow managed to be even worse. The girl taking my order was unbelievably rude from the start. I ordered exactly what's written on their menu--a parrillada--and she acted like I was out of my mind. Instead of just ringing up what I asked for, she kept pushing a botana, which is something completely different, looking irritated the entire time. To make it even more ridiculous, I asked for chips because apparently an $8.99 order of guacamole does not come with tortilla chips and was told it'd be $4.50 if I wanted some. You've got to be joking... Between the dirty environment, the attitude, and the absurd upcharges, this restaurant is a hard never again. Save your money and your appetite bc there are way better places that actually care about their customers and their cleanliness. I'd go across the street to La Playa. Great customer service and food over there.

I ordered a plate that had a cheese enchilada, rice, beans, guac, a beef fajita taco and I got a carne guisada taco on the side just to try it out. I also got chips & queso because I wanted to try that, too. I think I'm too used to crappy fast food Mexican food like Taco Cabana, because I was expecting everything to be on the smallish side. I was dead wrong. The tacos are large and the carne guisada one was stuffed to overflowing. Two people could easily split the dinner, and the extra stuff was just wasteful on my part. I ate a fraction of what came. As far as the food goes, the rice is seriously good and so are the beans. That's typically where most restaurants just throw some filler on the plate and call it a day. The guacamole was good, too. The homemade chips are also delicious. I did enjoy the queso, but wouldn't put it too far above average restaurant faire. The fajitas were very good as was the carne guisada, although I thought the beef chunks were extremely large. I didn't care for the enchilada sauce, so I ended up not eating those. But, that's just personal preference, so take it with a grain of salt. Overall, I thought it was good food at a good price and I'll probably order it again when I come back through Harlingen.

They boast a very large menu with your typical Texmex items. Portions are not only large, they are also quite inexpensive. Flavors are authentic in part due to the use of very fresh veggies not previously canned. The food is noticeably NOT overly salty, something that should be of value to those on restricted diets. Even the chips are not salted! Portions are abundant. Today we were a party of four. My friends were very pleased with their dishes. One of them is a professional cook so I was especially pleased. Our waitress was pretty, warm and vivacious, we could not have asked for more. Lunch for the four of us including two breakfast tacos with refried beans and several salsas and pico de Gallo with excellent corn chips and two luncheon plates with coffee and diet Pepsi came out to under $18.50! You can't grow the food as inexpensively as that! Besides, how would you grow a diet Pepsi? Or any Pepsi for that matter? Great place for really good eats, super comfy environment, and you can't help but feel good long after your visit.
