I've been to all of the Ross stores in Bakersfield, and this one is my favorite out of them all. Every time I come here, I almost always find what I'm looking for in certain categories, like, shirts, sweatshirts, socks, bags, or random household stuff I didn't know I needed until I saw it. Now, is this store the most organized? Nope. Is it always super tidy? Also no. But honestly, that's kind of the fun of it. Shopping here feels like a little treasure hunt--if you're willing to dig through the racks and shelves, you'll probably walk out with some awesome finds at crazy low prices. And that is exactly why I keep coming back. The employees here? Honestly, I don't have much to say--nothing particularly great, but nothing bad either. They're just kind of there, doing their thing, which is fine by me. What I did notice is that they have a lot of security, which makes sense because, well, it's Ross. And they even have self-checkout now, which is awesome and so convenient when you don't feel like waiting in a long line. Just scan your stuff, pay, and go! Tired of the inconsistent treatment at this location. I've shopped at this Ross location many times, usually with a coffee or energy drink in hand. Like most people I'm exhausted and trying to get errands done. Never once was it an issue until now. Out of the blue, the security at the door told me I wasn't allowed to have drinks in the store after I finished my drink and asked where the trash can was. The security accused me of "sneaking" in a drink when she was busy greeting other customers. Nawh, I just walked in with my drink in hand and visibly drinking. Not my problem she was so into her gossip that she wasn't paying attention. No signs posted, no prior warning, and zero explanation. Just a random policy being enforced with no consistency. It felt more like being targeted for someone's inability to do their job than an actual rule. If this is a real policy, then why hasn't it ever been mentioned before? Why isn't it posted? Why is it selectively enforced? I'm not walking around with a Big Gulp -- it's just a coffee like any other tired adult running errands. And during the summer, it's a bottle of water. Yeah, I do this all the time. And it's Bakersfield. Did they want me to have a stroke walking from the parking lot to the store? There are many other places to shop at with better service and clearer communication for me to waste time here again. The deals aren't worth the energy anymore. I know I have reviewed this store before. I am not sure what happened to my review. The store was actually not as cluttered as it usually is. I didn't find anything for my project, but I did find a really cute outfit for my granddaughter. This store always made me angry due to the long lines and lots of closed check stands. Tonight, Tuesday, January 13th, at approximately 9:30 p.m., a young security guard and store employee behaved in a manner that was blatantly racist and unprofessional. After I completed a large purchase, the employee requested to rescan all of my items as I was leaving. I cooperated without issue. During this process, both the employee and the security guard began laughing and mocking my wife, who is eight months pregnant. I felt like we were targeted because of our skin color. read more

I went to this Ross today because it's usually my favorite one to go to and I must say it was super stocked up with a lot of Valentine's Day stuff that was all very cute. I shopped for baby clothes and some dog toys as well, the selection was very nice and really good pricing. However, the reason for my review today was the service. The girl that helped us check out on register 5 was super sweet, she kept a fun conversation going with us and made our visit 10x better! I didn't catch her name but she had black hair with bangs and a braided ponytail, she was wearing a holiday sweater and holiday earrings. Was shitty. I pay and one my items did not have a price, but I seen they had more items that where the same. They where 9.99 but they wanted to charge me 15.99 I wouldn't mine paying if it was that price. They said if I wanted that item I had to go get the item, I am sorry I don't work for you guys to go get price check. So they said other you go get it or they will match a price that is not. I work customers service we are short handed many times but I am sorry we are not rude, so it would be like me saying go make your own food because I am short handed. You have people standing around doing nothing literally and you said you have no people to get price check. Now their customer service suck. Worse than Walmart! If you use the self checkout the cashier scans the first item and then you finish and pay. I only had one item and she had me scan it and lay on my own. I don't mind this Ross at all. This location and the Rosedale one have been my favorite. I feel like even though the line is usually long it goes by fairly quickly and the cashiers are pretty quick. I also think this Ross and the Rosedale Ross have the best selection of items. I love that Theres always tons of parking here too. read more

I like this Ross, it's well kept and the associates are quite nice. The female security at the entrance does a wonderful job of welcoming you with a smile instead of making you feel suspect just for entering, lol! Also, I was in the dressing room I had 18 items and can only take 8 at a time. During my second swap out of clothes the attendant Maria said to let her know and she'll hand me the swap out so I don't have to keep struggling. Never experienced this in my life not even when I lived in Watts (Los Angeles ) While using self checkout Security (Caucasian/Hispanic dude didn't even get a chance to see him good , Stands Right near you and sees you scan and pay all your items and still has the the nervous to ask you for your receipt while a few inches away from you while paying which I find it really disturbing. why have self check out and still have a security in that area checking receipt while the other customers that check out with cashiers don't get asked for receipt at all makes you look stupid and people around just stare to see that's embarrassing especially when you are with your Family read more

So I stopped by to check out this Ross at the SW location and Ross is Ross. You either love the place or you don't. I for one love a bargain and I do not mind shopping at Ross if the price was right and if something caught my attention. The store is pretty clean compared to other Ross's in town which I found was a plus. The store seemed bigger than the other locations too. I normally come in just to browse and see if I can purchase something for my home, but for some reason... I always walk out w something for the kids. I'm a pet owner and I noticed a section with a good amount of toys and things for your pets and I liked it. I found my pup a gigantic snake which would normally run about $20 at petco and I got it for $8.99 here, so that to me was fabulous. Ross has more clothing selections for females, but clothing prices for either sex is usually pretty great in price. This Ross is definitely a 3.5 in my eyes. read more

Went in to encounter this elderly man discussing some issues with another lady right in front and middle of the store. I don't know what was going on exactly but there's no need for that, be professional and take it to the back. It's no ones business to be listening. Anyway I went along my way towards the back to look at baby items. As I was walking the same elderly man swung open the door super fast and nearly hit me. Mind you, I am 6 months pregnant and he literally almost hit my stomach. Did he say anything?! No he didn't even look, cared, and my friend said he rolled his eyes. He kept talking with another associate and walked away. How rude to not even say I'm sorry or something. :( I found out he is the store manager and his name is DAYTON MILBRATH. I'll go ahead and notify the district manager Christi of this incident as well. read more

I have been to this location a few times. I seem to be in the minority but have had good customer service. I understand why they need it but the security guard always greats customers as they walk in and when I have checked out the cashiers have always asked if I found what I was looking for. Maybe I just got lucky. The woman in the back near the dressing room, Diana, was extremely nice and didn't give my son any trouble when he asked to use the restroom. I personally like this location! It's is much cleaner than the Ming store and more selection then the California store. The one in Rosedale is nice, but too far from my home for me to be a regular. I like that the from security always greets us and I've seen them often cleaning the front area of the store so that it looks clean. The staff is helpful and nice. You really need to search for a bargain but if you can find one...it's a good day. Pretty much hit or miss if you find that treasure. I use to work here for 3 weeks and am happy to say I'm no longer there. DAYTON MILBRATH is the WORST boss I've ever had the displeasure of working for. He needs to be removed from his position IMMEDIATELY. He is demeaning, yells at you infront of customers, and withholds money from checks. I feel like at every Ross I've been to the customer service is bad. Especially the cashier registers, they don't even acknowledge me, smile, ask me how things went. It's just poor customer service. I rarely go, but when I do it's always the same, it doesn't matter which one it is. And they are all a mess. Just because it's a barges store doesn't mean it should look a hot mess. I was so excited for this to open and what a disappointment. The parking lot, entry, and inside were equally littered with trash. Inside the store had candy wrappers, half empty water bottle, and dirt all over the store. This was soon after it opened for the day, so it didn't seem like it was cleaned from the night before. I shop at Ross all the time! Although, on Tuesday August 28, 2018. Me and my mom went shopping we bought some stuff and then we are short on cash. My mom went home 3 minutes away, to get it! (Yes, go into buy a few things, and end up with more.) Anyways, she brought the money and handed it to, at the door to purchase the items. We went to pay for our things over $140 worth of things and my mom was sitting behind me, because her legs get sore, as we all know the lines are so long! Well, were going to pay for our items, and I called my mom over to use her senior discount 10% a great deal. So, I handed the clerk the cash! And she shook her head! "Oh, I can't take that?" She said, "why not?" I asked, "well, you gave her the money?" She said. I live with my mom, we share an account what's the big deal, if she saw our ID's we live together! What's the deal? "Well check you camera she handed me the money by the door!" We were offended and We left everything on the counter. We told the lady "we are not buying anything from you!" I don't usually shop Ross due to the jumbled mess of clothes, but today walking in, I really appreciated how clean, organized, and maintained the store was. It was quiet, everyone was super friendly, and professional. I will continue to shop this particular store for the great deals, customer service, and cleanliness of this store. I especially appreciated the customer service of Deshell and Ausencio, even asking for their names so I could write this review. Excellent workers.
