I wish I had taken pictures during my first visit today, but I was too busy looking at all of the amazing things this store offers. First of all, the items available are amazing, and most are surprisingly inexpensive . It's worth a visit if you're looking for anything to finish off your decor, or for gifts . We bought a framed painting that is perfect for our bedroom, and was very reasonably priced for an item already framed. (Going back for another next week!) Customer service... They offer water to customers, whether you purchase or not . The staff were extremely nice, but did not try to sell us on anything. They were there when we needed them, and doing their own thing while we browsed. They have bathrooms for guests . Not commonplace for a retail store I will definitely be back since I saw 10 more things I absolutely have to have. read more

I was recommended this store by a friend. I was in need of a birthday gift and looking for something a little different. Bakersfield does not have many cute boutiques anymore. It was located in the back of a shopping center but it was a nice hidden gem. I was greeted by the owner Julie who offered her help. I browsed the store and saw so many items I personally loved. I purchased a cool Cocktail book of recipes from around the world. I also purchased some really cute marble heart coasters. My friend was very happy with her gift. The customer service was great and my gift was even bagged beautifully and ready to give to my friend. I will definitely be returning to The French Quarter. read more

We love shopping at this store- The inventory always has something new to see and they do a wonderful job displaying their home goods and decor. They offer excellent quality vendor sourced furniture, artwork and home decor. Staff is friendly without being intrusive. You can buy from the display or order through them for specialty items. Items are reasonably priced for the quality of the items- other stores may be less expensive, but you also get cheaper quality goods. This shop is worth the visit. read more

Items are overpriced for Bakersfield and are more like 90210 prices. Plus, the service was very rude. The owner started to help us however our presence was ignored once others came in that they appeared to know and they started helping them instead. My friends and I ended up leaving after approximately 30-45 minutes later with no help. Big loss to them, Big mistake! Needless to say, we won't return. read more

Well, I found this place by accident and I now have a wish list for it! I had never heard of this place and had never been in the plaza before until I had been looking for a specific shop here... really happy to have found it! You would think from the name of it, it would be French goods only but it appeared to be inspired by all of Europe. Lots of of rooster type things, sheep, pigs, horses... Lots of cool art, paintings to look at, candles, coasters, pillows and vases.. etc! The place was packed with stuff without being crammed. Very clean and smelled amazing from the candles they were burning! I fell in love with some monkey lamps that I just have to return for. Not European but one of a kind for sure! Staff were casual in that they are not all over you to greet you once inside but they allow you to browse at your own pace. They are happy to fill you in about what the store is all about and their history! This is their 3rd location, they love this spot for their business best and I am sure they have a heck of a following. Some stuff was very pricey and then other stuff was quite affordable. I left after a half hour as I had to be elsewhere but it seemed every time I went around the store, I would discover new things. The store has lots of nooks and rooms within rooms, quite large! Open weekdays until 530pm and closed Sundays. Liked it here a lot because it was unique. I like stores that I can decorate my home with and also find a gift for that hard to find person! read more

I came here while waiting for my mom who was having her teeth done next door. I was wowed with their selection of home furniture and decorations . They have so many things that I would absolutely love to have in my house. If you're looking for French/Mediterranean/old world collections this is the place to go. They are slightly more expensive than Pier 1 and World Market, but they have better selections. Alas! I was able to order a beverage/whiskey tray for my house after months of searching. The staff here were very friendly and helpful. They even gave me tips on how to decorate a beautiful Christmas garland. I am definitely coming back here to get some wall decorations and maybe the lamp shade I've been eyeing for over 30 minutes. :) read more

Fantastic shop full of great decor! I found high end items, with a decent mix of mid range items as well. As their name states, it's heavily influenced by European inspired designs, though I think you could find something for anyone looking for more classic items. They stock furniture, decorative items, dishwater, wall art, etc. I haven't used any design services, but they are offered. All of my experiences with staff have been pleasant, with no pushy sales pitch. A great spot to stop in to browse for home decor of higher quality. read more

Julie the proprietor began her business in downtown Bakersfield Ca, in the old Brocks building, then business closed and became a mall with different vendors named timeless furniture this is where I came across her items when visiting BFL. She successfully went on her own without the other two partners. She opened in a hidden away area on Rosedale HWY and now today on Calloway. She's a great "soul" and it projects to the customers. I love French Quarter. Julie, the owner, went through pictures of my new home and showed me what she thought she had in store that would work. Then she even went through her books and sent me pictures of items. I was able to text her what I wanted, pick the items up, wrapped in plastic, and brought back what didn't work and kept most of the items.(: Her husband wraps and puts big items in your car for you. You can't get service like they offer anywhere else. I went in on a whim a day Julie didn't turn out to be there and the two ladies working both helped me and two other ladies at the same time. You never feel forgotten. One of them even pulled probably 10 pillows for a bench I liked so I could look at options. The benched ended up not working for me. I felt bad! She didn't get the least bit upset. She said we are here to help you find what you need not have you leave unhappy with your purchase. Wait!! What??? I'm telling you this is the only store where all working there care more about you loving your pieces than how much can they sell you. Needless to say thanks to their business ethics I have bought so many items there and will always go to French Quarter first for my home & gifts. read more

I can't believe there are no reviews for this place. It's amazing how a place like this exists on Rosedale. When I think of Rosedale I think of trucks and building supplies. Just not the location to find quality, beautiful home furniture and accessories. I love the workers there. I also think the owner makes some of the items in the store which i have purchased and is now hanging over my tapestry. I have purchased a table runner for my house. They must have over a dozen of different table runners. I bought mine for 149, this piece has textures, beads and the color is amazing. I also found this beautiful print/framed of a lady, and the frame on the corner was not aligned, I took it to the sales person and I believe it was the owner, she gave me a discount b/c of the defect. I felt valued as a customer. I also got one of their ceramic roosters for my kitchen. It's gorgeous and people who come to my house comment on it. I also got a hanging wall clock, it's double sided. I love coming here and there is something for everyone. I really hope they continue to have good customer service b/c that's what keeps me coming. The workers here do not nag you when you come in. And they also don't get irritated by questions and I have tons. read more
