The staff are incredibly rude. My friend and I went here to purchase a few items and mind you we were very respectful and kind to the cashier. Instead she was very hostile and aggressive. Scanning things aggressively and taking off security tags very hard. I thought my top was going to rip. She mumbled something very fast and I asked her to repeat it. Literally shit they tried to charge us two times for an speaker and say "it's like that" and when I pointed it out they gave me attitude and still say "the system is like that" and when the staff removed the second speaker he just looked at me and tried to apologize. Employees were not wearing masks in this Ross. The manager Sandra was great. She continuously told employees to put on their masks today. When she walked away they pulled theirs masks down. The employee pictured below refused to put on her mask when we asked her to multiple times. read more

This review is only based on my visits to the other local stores so bare with me.... Today was the Grand Opening...can I get awhoop whoop?! no...okay. Either way the lay out was a bit different from the other three, which is okay. The location is great with ample parking on "regular days" although I went there to shop I also just wanted to see what the selection difference would be, if any. The brands were a bit more varied , which is awesome but the ahoes selection for women was not. I wear a 7-7.5 shoes and there were basically 10 pair in each size.....womp. I appreciated the expanded winter coat area for women and always their womens dress selection. Because it was a grand opening there was too many people....I mean it was a line half way around (yes around) the store so I didn't nor will speak on customer service but look for that soon. I did get a free tote for my next visit ...visit and enjoy! read more

Such a bad experience!!! Horrible customer service starting from the employees and the manager. The cashier was scanning my items and as she grabbed the bag to put my things inside she slapped it across my face, I said to her what she have done and her reply was "if I slapped you, you'll be on the floor", and yelled to the manager for him to bag my items. I told the manager what happened and he had the nerve to blame me, he said that I must've said something to her to get her mad and to make things worse he said I was holding up the line, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Wow what a horrible store!! After first visiting this store maybe a week after they first opened this was a huge disappointment!! We entered this store and it was scary how out of order and dirty it was! There were wrappers, hangers, and tons of miscellaneous littering the floors! What a difference from the first week they were open!! And you can't blame the busy shopping holiday season! There were numerous employees that were just standing around ignoring all the crap all over the place! I witness an older salesperson whip a couple hangers towards the backroom door!? Wow who owns this store, does anyone care?? Upon hopping around over all the crap all over the floors we finally got a dog bed for $9.99 and a set of cheap velvet hangers. This is not the best Ross in the area. Their selection does not seem to be as good as the one in Bolingbrook. Another thing that I did not like is that they do not allow drinks (other than water bottles) in the store. I think that's really more for them than it is for the customers. I can't tell you how many times I've gone into a store with my latte and never been bothered by bored loss prevention employees or wasted my drink... mostly because it's never happened before until now. I feel like they should have better things to do... He suggested I go sit in the front of the store with my drink until I'm done. I just handed him my coffee. I don't have that kinda time, and if I did, I would've stayed in Starbucks. Anyway, can't say when or if I'll come back to this Ross. Bolingbrook seems to be a better store. read more

I don't know where all this haterade is coming from in the other reviews. I love this site!! Take it with a grain of salt though when preparing to go here... I've been asked what the store is like to newbies, and I say "It's like Marshalls/TJ maxx, only crappier." Marshall's and TJ's try to have more higher end items. You won't find that here, but if you want on trend clothing that's cheap, you will definitely have success with Ross. I've gotten tops for presents for less than $10, dresses for myself for less than $20. It's clothing that you can wear a few times, and if you're like me and have wayyyyyyyyyy too much in the way of clothing, you don't have to feel so guilty if you only wear it a few times. But I also have some of my favorite items to wear from this store!! I will definitely be back! read more

By far the worst Ross store I've ever visited. There were clothes and shoes everywhere. Literally, there were people digging shoes out of a pile on the floor! I don't know who manages this store, but they need to be fired. I went this past Sunday afternoon and was horrified! It was completely ridiculous! I've gone to this location in the past. I understand items being out of place or in the wrong section. But the amount of inventory lying in the floor and kicked under the racks was appalling! I will NEVER go back to that location again! Decided to stop in Ross today after visiting Kohl's across the street. Found a couple of decently-priced black leggings for working out, etc.; tried them on, and decided to purchase them. When I approached the check-out area, I could not believe my eyes!There were at least 20 people ahead of me and just 1 (ONE!!) cashier! Seriously, Ross, on a Saturday afternoon...! Who's managing this store?? Supposedly, other employees were zoning and this was more important than taking customers' money! After 20+ minutes, another cashier stepped up and the people in line literally applauded!! I'm not sure how a store with service like this can stay in business but I won't be back anytime soon! read more

They totally screwed up my daughter and gave her a gift receipt but not actual receipt. When she went to return the items they would only give store credit. She tried explaining that the cashier who gave her gift receipt had screwed it up and gave gift receipt instead of regular receipt. They didn't care. That cashier was so dang rude. So you're saying you pay with cash and you have to get a store credit despite what your policy is? That is against the law. You've got the nastiest, dirtiest store with crap all over. One of the nastiest, rudest cashiers I have ever encountered. But guess what? She was the only cashier 2 days before Christmas. How pathetic. This place is a hole go across to TJ Maxx. I wasn't familiar with the Ross chain of stores until a few weeks ago. Amazingly, they open at 9:30 AM, which fits my circadian rhythms better than the 10 AM slacker stores in the vicinity. I guess if I had to sum up Ross (this is my first one), I'd say it is like TJ Maxx/Marshalls with less floor space and inventory. Similar quality, prices and brands from what I can see (though I did notice what seemed to be could have been "house brand" type beauty products purpose-made for Ross. Those may be perfectly fine, but if you're bargain hunting, I doubt that's what brought you in the door. One of my buddies says that they get new inventory often, so I plan to check in here on the reg. BTW, despite the category listing in Yelp, you can find men's clothing and shoes here. read more

I found the cutest belt at the Ross in Darien (that I've been looking for some time now) and was told I couldn't take it into the fitting room when trying on clothes. I went in to try on most of my clothes and even switched them out for more clothes. When I came out both the sales associate and the belt were missing from up front. I had to wait for some time before he came back to even address the issue. It's unfortunate how careless the staff and the manager were in resolving the issue. They both just said "Well, someone else must have taken it." Without bothering to investigate any further. Really unfortunate experience to say the least. Store has hardly any inventory. Whatever they do have to sell, is a complete mess!! They have security watching you, like you really want to steal the garbage they sell. Bathroom was sooo gross. Overall, this place reminds me of TJ Max, and other stores that sell affordable clothes. It's a good place to visit if you need a few extra cute tops or work clothes. Otherwise, it's not a place I visited a lot. Never really had a problem with the associates or workers. They also sell purses, shoes and other material as well. The only thing that's frustrating are the long lines, but that's typically at any clothing store. read more
