My Bride and I have been to Wannamaker's over 100 times since moving to Lisle in 2015... so I have…read morea bit of a track record with them. At every interaction, we've *never* had a bad or unpleasant experience there. I read with dismay the several posts here that recount other's experiences. Not having been there with those other Commentors, I certainly can't / won't comment on what they experienced. But I do note a common denominator, folks: many of these tales include, in some way, aspects of "Caveat Emptor". Wannamaker's is a large-ish store, and from shopping there a lot, I note that many Shoppers go there as almost a "field trip" - e.g. not often, and they probably are caught-up in the joy of a store that has literally *Everything* you might want, garden-related. Thus, I posit, they overbuy, and let their Spidey senses down. Perhaps by not counting the number of shoots in a flat, or expecting (and perhaps not documenting) their plantings against a possible future Health claim. As a Disinterested Observer, the store is consistently pretty busy, with complex sales, and have NEVER been staffed to support an Investigative Staff to assist their Customers. These are, really, basic Customer Skills you need to possess (or groom!), ESPECIALLY when living under the fat greasy thumb of His Puissant Orangeness and his Clown Show administration. Trust but Verify. Consider the flip-side here, though: Wannamaker's is a Specialty Store. Sure, they command higher pricing than Wal Mart, because everyone in there is a Professional in their field. They've seen it and done it and planted it. And, regarding Product, if you want it, they probably have it, or can order it for you. I cannot recall in the past decade ever being at Wannamaker's and leaving without what I came for. To me, that justifies the pricing delta. I convey my displeasure by withholding one Star. An Educated Consumer is their Target Customer. After the Sale, it's your Documentation that counts, and - quite possibly - your attitude when seeking whatever restitution your situation demands. Again, I'm not throwing-down at the several posters here who have had negative experiences. I wasn't with you, and I don't know. I'm sorry for your poor experience. But I've never had a bad experience at Wannamaker's, and I always try to support my local brick and mortar businesses!

I had a very disappointing experience at Wannamaker's and will not be returning. After spending…read moreover $400 on an olive tree, soil, and planter, I discovered an infestation that began shortly after purchase. When I went back to the store for help, they were completely unhelpful and unwilling to offer a refund or even store credit. Instead, they tried to sell me a $10 bottle of soap that they admitted may or may not work. Beyond that, there was no real guidance, advice, or effort to help resolve the issue. For a specialty nursery with premium pricing, I expected far more expertise and customer care. I strongly believe in supporting small businesses over big box stores, but this place was a complete disappointment. Between the high prices and lack of support, the value just isn't there. I will be finding a new nursery in the spring and highly recommend others look elsewhere as well. If you're looking for quality plants, knowledgeable staff, reasonable prices, and customer care, Wannamaker's is not it.

We bought our pool table from this store approx. 30 years ago and are satisfied with its quality though it's seen better days. Inside the store looks pleasant. They have a nice selection of merchandise. They greeted us and David R. was the one who helped us find a model sufficient for us. He's knowledgable and engaged. I found something I liked, but he showed me a smaller model that actually fit our patio footprint. We agreed to it. He knocked a couple of hundred off because it had scratches on the top. And we were ecstatic. Careful! If you buy a floor model, it's 'As-Is' and it's noted on your sales receipt. Returnable within 30 days and still packaged they'll give you a full refund. We purchased it early August under these Terms. They helped us load it onto our pickup and we took it straight home not 7 mins. away. Though my gut told me to buy a propane tank and fire it up to see if it was working, we put it in the backyard on a rug and didn't buy a tank and try it until October 7th. You have to take the plastic wrap off to light it but it wouldn't stay lit. My husband, who is handy, looked underneath and found a broken wire to the Thermal Coupler. Argh! He quickly went back to the store, and of course, they nonchalantly said, there's nothing they could do. My husband was fuming, and after a little while, him threatening to return the unit for a full refund, someone found a part from another unit in the back. My husband came home, replaced the broken, and now it works. Otherwise, it would have been $800 wasted.

The one attached to the mall feels like a madhouse with the narrow aisles and big shopping carts. This one you have two different size shopping carts and it's more spacious. Parking lot is ample. The products are placed neatly on the shelves vs the other location. I do have to take off a star for customer service. We stood in line for a few minutes and most of the employees were just standing around talking. Only two were actually working. One stopped talking to check us out, by that time the line got longer. It's easier if they just clear the line instead of letting it build up.

First off, anyone with basic common sense knows you only need to scan and the system will tell you if there's another size in the store. She was post-menopausal, and you could just tell. She was highly irritated with my question of whether or not there was another size in ONE garment in a retail store. How obscene it is for me to ask such an unheard-of question. I even told an employee about this terrible experience at the store, and she told me they've been having issues with customer service lately, that employees are becoming rude towards customers. If employees are complaining about their own team, things have already gotten out of control..
