The store was torn apart, and with the exception of the young man at the front doing security, the staff was unhelpful. I asked one woman a question and she wouldn't even look at me and just walked right past me. I am a please and thank you and excuse me, kind of woman so I was definitely being kind. Then they wouldn't let me use their public restroom either. Definitely don't need to come back to this store ever! I've passed through this Ross a few times after some Sunday AM gym time next door at 24HF. Their clearance rack with sales items is a good deal. I found a pair of PSD boxer briefs and a pair of Peanuts socks for relatively cheap. PSD is not a cheap brand and I got them for more than half off. My daughter spilled a few drops of juice, which I wiped up with the wipes I had, and even then, I kept telling her to stop. She glared at her from the moment I got to the register. She was angry, I don't know why, and I don't care, but she's a real bitch. If you want your kids to be treated badly, go to that store, especially the one with Valentine, that damn, miserable woman. I must have forgotten about this Ross, even though I was here almost a year ago, what did I buy here last time, probably nothing because while I was in the area today, I decided to come for a visit again, and it was pretty messy, a lot of stuffs were laying around unorganized and yes either stolen out of the boxes or just damaged beyond recognition. Luckily I found one or two things that was worth buying, and yes at least to make up for all the craziness, they have 5 cashiers at the register. Not a bad Ross Store and definitely one of the larger ones I have visited. I came in looking for a brown belt and although they did not have much of a variety, they did have what I needed and in my size (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/ross-dress-for-less-el-cajon?select=eVTMSmec6p5Bl8D5eSL_3w#kF5cAPKGr9-FaZ1ur7YoKw). So, after picking up the belt, I browsed for a bit, but not not see much that interested me, I headed to the cashier. The lady at register was a little on the shy side, but after a few comments she livened up and offered up a smile, hooray. Anyways, the belt, a Calvin Klein brand was made of brown leather and only cost $10. The store seem to carry mostly women and children items, but that was okay with me because I got my belt, and that's was all that matter on this particular visit. If I could leave zero stars I would. Do not come here. TERRIBLE customer service. The cashier left the security tag on one of my items and I realized when I was cutting off the tags at home. Went back to the store to have it taken off and the security girl tells me I need the receipt because it's policy to make sure I actually paid for it. Why would I steal something when I'm asking them to look at the security tape so they can see the items I bought. I also showed them the transaction on my phone which had the time and date. It was so embarrassing they made me feel like a thief when it was their fault. They should make it a policy to do their job correctly!!! read more

I visited the store of Ross of El Cajon and I bought an item which was not fit. Then I want to return it the customer service his name was Ali and he was unhelpful and he only said to go on long line to return it without any eye contact with attitude . I saw before few seconds that there was a woman standing on the return line and she returned many things. While when also stopped on the same line he told to go to the purchase line I also asked the supervisor to help me to return the item she only told to go to the long line for purchases. I was at this Ross today and I needed to use the restroom I got buzzed into the restroom because the door was locked to any homeless people which I completely agree with. But when I got inside the bathroom it smelled like a homeless person was living in that restaurant. I do not understand why the employees that work there cannot clean a restroom to anyone satisfactory. There was shit stuck to the toilet seat and toilet it smelled like people were peeing on the floor you could tell that no one has clean the restroom and weeks. In my opinion you should not be in business if you cannot keep your restrooms clean. Even if you have to outsource the cleaning to a cleaning company because your employees are too lazy to do it. I spent hours shopping at multiple locations (including other Ross stores) last weekend, only to end the day exhausted, frustrated, and with a couple of items that cost way too much $$$. I expected to spend hours doing the same today, but one stop at Ross has me going home with 15 items @ an average of $10/item. Trista at the fitting room was an angel. I originally didn't expect to find much, so I didn't grab a cart upon arrival. She held my items as I made multiple (successful) trips to the fitting rooms, then continued to hold them while I went to browse other areas of the store and brought back a cart. She was so sweet and friendly, that I had to find a manager (easily found!) to praise her outstanding customer service. read more

Absolutely AWFUL customer service. I had to do a return for a few items I had purchased a few days prior. Seeing as I was in the area on other business, I decided to stop at this location. I waited in the return line and a couple got behind me. The lady at the register called them to her register first, which to me, was already a bad sign. After they finished, I was finally able to begin my return. She removed my items from the bag and looked over my receipt. She called over the Loss Prevention lady and they whispered something amongst themselves. After looking at my items and receipts REPEATEDLY, she informed me she could not exchange them and I would need to go to the location i bought them at to CONFIRM I PURCHASED. I love Ross , always have . It's always somewhat of an adventure . You have to dig and dig and hope you find a gem , that happens to be an amazing bargain . They have a good selection here and I always find at least 1 thing I love and have to have . So why not more stars ?? Because the customer service is awful ! It's so bad that you have to prepare yourself for standing in the long line . Listen there's long lines at bargain stores I get it , however here it's different . Here the cashiers are so slow and have zero pride in their job . There could be 1 person in front of you and you will be waiting a long time , because most likely the cashier is having a conversation in a foreign language to a coworker that should be working and helping other customers as you're standing there wondering why they are having a conversation while people are tired of digging in Ross for an hour and want to do the other 100 things they have to get done . I always forget that this Ross is over here next to the 24 Hr Fitness. It is a decent store and there is adequate parking when there is not an event taking place on downtown Main Street. The employees are busy like all of the other locations so you don't really get any help on the floor unless you seek it out. I don't know if it's because these places are in bad neighborhoods or what. And one of their spawn actually whacked me with an item on my shin! I glared at the old lady of the bunch thinking maybe she still cared about manners, but nothing. The lines here get very long, very fast. So get in line as soon as you're done shopping. They carry everything here. Clothes, shoes, cooking tools, pet supplies, toys, hats, perfume, purses, bed spreads, photo frames, bathroom sets, lamps. Everything! I love it here. I come here very often. You're always going to find a good deal here. My most recent purchase was a plate set which was gorgeous for $26. Great deal. Try to avoid the bathrooms as much as you can though. I called El Cajon's location and Gretchen answered and went and checked for me before I made the trip out there! She even came back and asked me what size I needed and she pulled all sized 36 board shorts for me because she knew I was desperate I ended up buying 3 pairs! Oh my gosh this place is a joke. There was a very long slow moving line on a Saturday night. Only 2 cash registers open while some people including the manager were just pretending they're busy by putting out fall decors. I approached the manager asking for additional registers to be open. Low and behold nothing happened. She basically just said the other person is on lunch break. Well missy as the manager u should've went out of your way to open up and help out with the cash register while you wait for the other person to come back from her break.
