I'm very disappointed with my experience at this store. We shop here quite often since I live nearby, but the way the manager (or the person in charge) treated my children was unacceptable. She has glasses and streaks in her hair - I forgot her name, but if I remember it I will gladly share it. My boys are children - sometimes they are a little noisy, but nothing unusual. On one occasion, they were simply standing in line and talking a bit, and she immediately told them to be quiet. I honestly didn't understand - is this a hospital or a clothing store? On another visit, she literally followed us around the store. No matter what my children did, she kept finding reasons to comment and correct them, to the point that they started feeling uncomfortable and even afraid of her. No customer or child should feel that way while shopping. It doesn't matter how good the merchandise or prices are - this is not how you treat customers. The store is large and often messy, yet instead of managing staff or organizing the store, she seemed focused only on my children. When I asked for her name, she loudly said my name back to me and told me I was welcome to file a complaint, as if this is something she's used to hearing. So the one thing that I really can't stand about this location is you come in. There's like 15 minutes left before they close, sometimes 30 minutes and they will sit and keep announcing. We're closing in 10, we're closing in 5, and sometimes it's a whole 15 minutes, maybe 20, and they're literally announcing half of the time. How are you gonna tell me that? I have five minutes left when you don't close for fifteen minutes just to rush me out of there? knowing that I have more than enough time and rushing people out while were shopping because you wanna go home early! The customer service here is poor as well. The store is very disorganized. All of the people that work here seem like they hate their job.But truth be told no one's forcing any of them to work here! It actually should score a -1! I went in to return a pair of pants that had been torn by the previous store while try to remove the security tag thingy. I didn't realize they were torn until I wanted to wear them...Darn! I had the receipt, the pants and even the tags I tore them off so I put them in the pants pocket. The manager was AWFUL while standing on the other side of the counter TALKING to another employee , she told the cashier to give me a Ross gift card, I asked why they couldn't put it back on my card.... the manager says "that hole was not caused by the remove electronic thingy! That why we have to give you a gift card the pants are damaged.I asked the unprofessional manager " do you think that I would tear them on purpose "? She didn't answer instead she addressed the clerk and asked "are the tags on them the clerk states"she has them they were in the pocket.. The unprofessional manager said "oh that's why we have to give you a gift card ". I asked her what her name is she stated "Paoula" . All of this happened with Paoula standing on the other side of the counter TALKING, she never ended her conversation with the employee or did she "personalized" the transaction by walking over to counter where we were.....Paoula was extremely unprofessional and she lied as to the reason for giving me a Ross gift card! It is very hidden in the heart of La Mesa city, the building was kinda old, not sure but maybe used to be a super market in the past. This Ross has a huge collection of anime toys, other than that everything else were very little to nothing, they seriously need to restock, they could also use the space to put more shelves in, I can see a lot of empty that did not get use to the full potential, because if I was at another Ross, my shopping cart will find a hard time to squeeze in between the isles, this place just not having that, it's not dead, but it was slow, and the line of shoppers were also shorter than most, I am surprised, but I hit big on toys tonight. read more

Tidy, spacious, stocked Ross store. Compared to other other Ross this is One of the cleaner Ross I've shopped in. The aisle are very spacious and free of debris. However just like other Ross stores, the customer service is horrendous. One cashier with 6 people in line. Outrageous. Great buys!! I bought 2 pair of Calvin Klein jeans for $17.99 each. I would have gotten out of line because the wait was soooo long but I have been looking for this color too long. Customer service was average. The lady was as friendly as excepted considering she was the only cashier working. I guess Ross clothing stores prefer quantity over quality of customer service. There's a high probability that I will return in the future especially since it's clean here and offer amazing deals. Hopefully the customer service will improve by then. Doubt it. But I'll give them another opportunity. read more

I like this store because it's normally not as busy as the other ones. Although I usually come at night so I can't say the same for the day time... Whenever I'm here, the late night cashier is always nice and friendly. She loves making conversation and makes you feel welcome. The few times I've had interactions with the closing manager she's also been approachable. Doesn't have as much as other stores, but I'd gladly come here to avoid the lines! read more

This location is getting better all the time. Great little jewelry section as you walk in and the best gift selection to choose from. Check out the clearance items. I came to this Ross to see what they had. It's a large store but were limited on clothing for me. I had gone to a previous location and they had so much to choose from. I definitely like shopping here as it saves me money. So many brand names for less. This location is not fully stocked. They have so much space but so little to choose from. This Ross location is huge! It is much larger than most Ross stores I have visited however there is a lot less inventory. I came in to look for a hand towel and sheets which I usually find with ease. This location had hardly any towels and only one side of an isle for all sizes of sheets. I also looked at storage bins and the selection was tiny as well, probably 1/3 of what any other Ross would carry. The only plus to this store was the line. There as no line, so there was no wait. There was also ample parking. I don't think I'd visit this location since I couldn't find what I actually came for. read more

EDIT Ok Ross you have redeemed yourself. All the sh*t employees are gone. Everyone here is really friendly especially the two door men who are always super nice. While Ross isn't my favorite for clothes, you can occasionally find some nice brands. The have some nice skincare items and jewelry. They also have some gems in the shoe department. I love how late they are open everyday if I want to do some late night shopping -- I don't know why I bother returning to this Ross. I do occasionally find some decent stuff but the employees here are ridiculously rude. Not all, but enough to where it's a known thing. Today I tried to return something that I bought just a couple of days ago and the lady "helping" us basically laughed in our face and turned around to talk to another employee pretty much accusing us of switching tags and trying to return this shirt. I was so irritated as I went to go look for the same shirt to prove to this rude lady that it was in fact the same price. I have worked in several customer revive jobs and there is a right way and a wrong way to treat customers. This store was stocked with a good assortment of items to go through. I was able to find some items here that I wasn't able to find at other stores and I'm very grateful to have found them. This store is easy to maneuver and looked clean and organized. I liked walking around and looking at their different items. I will agree that this place can get busy. By the time I went to pay at the registers, there were quite a few people in line, with only one person (and then a second person coming to help) on register. The people at the register seemed more keen on getting you rung up and having you pay. I wasn't done putting my money away and taking my purchases when another customer was told they can be helped (making me move out of the way so the next person can put their purchases down). Well, let me tell you! WHOA! HOLD UP! I was so exhausted mentally and financially after spending 2 hours in this dept. store. I spent a grand total of $96.13 but left with a grin and a bag of goods! Gosh, what a steal! I got a skirt, a dress, 2 shirts, jeans, leopard shoes, a jacket, a blue handbag, some business clothes, and some accessories! Talk about a wardrobe makeover. So if anyone wants to take me out on a date, I'll be Rollin in style! The dressing rooms, well they are more like a curtain and a glued on mirror on the wall. Fuck their aren't any hooks to hang your clothes or any lighting. Is like really, how the hell am I suppose to try these garments on fool. The amount of items is 8 which is pretty high and generous because I had like 15 items to try on. I tried to sneak all of them so I would only make 1 round, but the dressing room Nazi caught me. Besides clothing for any age: men, women, babies, maternity, elderly have stocked the place with home decor, bedding, furniture, ETC! I love this location! The store is enormous and the selection has always been great. I have scored some of my favorite cocktail dresses at this place for far cheaper than I ever expected. This store has a nice assortment of housewares that will guarantee to keep your mother busy for hours. The only gripe that I have is the employees have to be the most unfriendly people to ever grace the Earth; the dressing rooms are a disaster, and the lines at the registers take longer than it did to find what you were looking for. But I think after paying 10 bucks for a dress that normally costs 50, the wait in line makes up for the price difference. read more

My mother bought a handbag here, which she asked me to return. Somehow, the price tag label became misplaced, so she did not have it. She still had the receipt, though. When I attempted to return the item, the customer service rep refused to take back the handbag because there was no price tag label. She also said the bag looked "used," which it wasn't because the handbag had been sitting in a box all this time and never left my mother's bedroom. The customer service rep also scrutinized the receipt, but claimed she did not know which item it was, even though I directly tried to show her which one it was on the receipt. I departed the store in a fuming and somewhat agitated state... The next day I phoned the store and spoke with another customer service rep. I explained what happened. This rep apologized for what happened and told me to bring in the handbag, which I did a short time later. She was able to look up and locate the handbag information in the Ross computer system, which took a whole two minutes. Lesson Learned: If you think you've been wronged, just try talking to someone else--or a manager!!! read more

Its Ross. If you go in, expecting it to be neat, organized, and sorted correctly by size you have a whole 'nother (yes, a whole 'nother) thing coming. For a Ross store however, everytime (I've been about 20 since I found this location when I moved to my new home in La Mesa in January) I go here its clean, there's never an abundance of clothing on the floor (which is the usual program at Ross stores nationwide) and even the shoe department usually has all the shoes up on the racks and not strewn about to and fro. All that said, it seems to be the inventory is ALWAYS the same. I don't know when they get new shipments, or maybe I just shop too much, because everytime I go I see mostly the same stuff I passed up the last time. The employees are kinda strange and not too friendly either, which I don't really care about too much as long as they charge me correctly and ring up the merchandise expeditiously...which they do. read more

My sister and I used to frequent this place back when she worked at West Coast BBQ. Based on other Ross stores this one does rank superior. It is clean and organized for the most part. Selection is always better at this store clothing wise and house items wise. My sister and I found some great blinds here, we have also gotten reasonably priced jewelry and clothing items. Sad I don't come by here more often... The mission valley store doesn't cut it, but as long as I have Tjmaxx I can stay looking decent enough I hope! read more

I just CLEANED UP here. My friend and I went shopping over the weekend to get clothes for Coachella (weekend 1, bitches!) and my trip with my husband to Vegas. I got 6 dresses, 2 thin cardigans, and a top for $138. She got a few dresses and a few pairs of shoes for just under $100. Don't get me wrong, Ross can be really hit or miss. Some of the styles are terrible, and the quality is all over the place. It's hard to beat the prices, though. When you're paying $12 for a dress, who cares if it only lasts for a few months? It's surprisingly well organized and clean for a place that gets so busy. Women DGAF about putting things back where they found them, and they'll knock clothes off hangers and keep it moving like nothing happened, so you know the staff tries to stay on their job when most things are on hangers and in the right size sections. You can take up to 8 items into the dressing room at a time, which is nice since you'll probably find that many things that are worth trying on. You can also try things on right in the main part of the store (things that go over your clothes please, this is a family show), because there are full length mirrors at the ends of the aisles. Overall, it's a great place to go if you have a discerning eye and want to look your best on a budget. read more

This Ross doesn't have the best selection of clothing for women (especially petites!), but I have always found great bargains here when not looking for anything in particular. Today I scored a nice dress for work for $12, that aluminum wallet that is waterproof for $8, a device that lets you charge 3 items in your car's cigarette socket for $6, and 4 pairs of underpants for $1.75 each. I found this is one of the cleanest Ross's, but that's not saying much since I am from LA where it's like crack babies pooping in the fitting room. I also have always had nice conversations with workers here ranging from the fitting room attendant, cashier, and loss prevention guys. Main con is what Alina said about the lack of variety. I also had a really cute dress that I got there get like 6 inches shorter just from rinsing it in cold water and not even putting it in the dryer! read more

I got here before the store opened to see all of the front parking lots full up, save for two. And those two could not be used because the cars beside them were parked badly. Sooo I'm there before the store opens, and there's no other store around, and no people hanging around outside? This means that the employees took all the good spots. Now, when you are not allowed to take the carts outside because of their security bars, you might want to park as close as possible. Plus, back when I worked in retail at TJ Maxx and Nordstrom, my high school jobs, we were told to park far away to save the good spaces for customers. Even if you had to take a BUS to get to the store through rings of fire whilst wearing stilettos. Because customers keep you in business, no matter if you're high end or low end or in the middle. Anyway, the selection inside seemed pretty sparse and not well tended. For example, there is a large piece of "wooden" furniture with a completely smashed in side still on the shelf, not marked down. And one broken lonely lamp in the lamp section. See, back in MY day, my TJ Maxx manager would have forced us to cull such atrocities. We frequent this Ross. It is organized and not at all crowded in the late evening. Would like to see more variety of shoes for small women sizes like 5 considering this section is by a window you would expect to be filled with shoes and not bare. Otherwise it would be a 5 Star. I had never been to a cleaner and more organized Ross before! I was able to immediately notice that this store has a wide range of variety including: clothes, shoes, kids toys, home decor, furniture, among others things, all for reasonable prices. I went in here to look for picture frames and ended up walking out with a few clothing deals I found and I was still within my budget! I swear, if this store had been a mess, I would not have had the energy or patience to stay and look around and would have never bought anything extra than what I was looking for.
